GiantBomb: Titanfall Quick Look is Live

Holy crap, the game looks to be an unoptimised mess. Constant slowdown in menus and crashing to dash?

Yeah, recorded that earlier on my XBO:

Giant Bomb wasn't exaggerating with the single digit fps. The game definitely needs some polish. (It's still awesome, tons of fun, everybody should buy it, yadada)

3 server crashes and 1 hard lock so far.

game looks fun though. not sure if it was the map or whatever, but definitely looked more fun than I played of the beta.

They said it dips? Dam respawn i thought fps was key? They need more time. Patches will come but i don't want this to be a trend.

Jesus. What even causes that? It looks like nothing is going on there.

did most of those reviews not experience this stuff because there was the review event? sheesh

Yeah, looks like some background loading. Nevertheless, that map (Boneyard) wasn't running brilliant, anyway. Frequent dips into the 40ties, especially outside and when a lot of smoke was on screen. I really hope that they focus on that instead on resolution.

Thats awfull. I wonder how GB noticed it and the other journos missed that.

Depends on how often it dips that low. I'm not ready to over react yet. If that's something that happens like once a match, no biggie, but if it's happening every time two titans explode at the same time...

Thought my net hiccuped then it replayed. How did this shit slip past reviewers?

Yup. Outlets that don't hold their review score until experiencing launch performance for multiplayer-only games, and instead take 'review events' at face value, are gross and responsible for games like BF4 launching in the state they're in.

I think they forget who their audience is (hint: it's not fellow industry buddies or publishers) and what purpose they serve.

I can look past some of these issues but doing that once every match would be way too much for me. Once every 1-2 hour play session would be too much for me. I have the game and have not experienced that kind of issue yet, but if it starts to feel common, I will put the game down until there is a fix.

I can't help but think deep down inside, Vince Campanella is angry that his new "baby" Titanfall isn't on the PS4. I guarantee you it would be running MUCH better than it is on the XB1.

It might not be full 1080p on a PS4, but it sure as hell wouldn't be dropping to a single-digit slideshow when just walking around a corner inside a building...

He'll never admit it publicly, but I just have this feeling from the tone of his Tweets that he's not happy about the XB1's hardware issues. Or EA's backroom deals with Microsoft.

Thats exactly the sort of thing that happened in the beta, but very rarely (about twice in 11 hours for me), it really did feel like something that was more of a bug that could be fixed because as with that gif, there's very little going on that we can see to cause it.

dont know, the gif could be network related. Also do remember Respawn is a tiny team, doing 2 games on brand new systems in launch window won't be pretty for anyone.

Yikes, I was watching PC streams for a while yesterday and it seems damn solid on that platform unless these are launch day server side issues that didn't rear their ugly head yesterday.

Some server issues (people who thought Azure would get rid of it were delusional), some framerate issues too, but tearing takes the crown. Good lord.

Normally, I'd love to blame Microsoft for this stuff, but this is also on Respawn and EA. This is a clear-cut rush job.

The PS4 is clearly more powerful than the Xbox One, but dipping to single digits in fps when turning an indoor corner is not the fault of hardware - it's the fault of software.

That's the exact thing to happened to me in the beta. It didn't seem like a normal fps drop, but some kind of bug.

Are there still server issues? I thought they were worked out within the first hour or so?

I hope the PC version isn't like this.

It is and it isn't. By this I mean screen tearing is a significant issue and there's a bit of lag when there's a lot of smoke effects BUT third party utilities help minimize the issues. It's a real shame XBO has no recourse but to wait for a patch for these issues because it's certainly not going to help the console's image with those undecided on picking it up. =/
