I hope the tearing gets fixed later or at least reduced. I remember that I couldn't play Serious Sam on the first Xbox because of the tearing issue. It was unplayable in the "WTF is going on here? I can't believe they released this to retail!" sense of the word. In some games, it isn't that bad though. But I'm one of those that are sensitive to it and I'd rather play with a slower frame rate than have tearing.

I hope they can patch it. I totally know what you mean too. Some games are completely unplayable due to tearing. BS1 on the 360 was one such game until they patched in v-sync. Saints Row 1 was another.

I have to say, I was surprised at how dower Jeff Gerstmann's outlook was on Titanfall. Not only was he getting bored already, but he didn't even think it stood a strong chance of moving a lot of Xbox Ones (Though they did add the caveat about the number of people that would be getting the game for free). I don't think Titanfall looks like anything special, but even I think that based on advertising momentum alone it's going to make a dent.

Over the years I've learned Jeff's indifference towards certain games isn't traceable to a reliable list of things he prefers in games. He has some of the weirdest combinations of games he likes and games he feels are ehh that I've seen out of gamers in general.

I had real bad hangs during titan sequences last night. I'd get into a titan, stomp around, and things were OK. But the minute I got close to an enemy titan the frame rate would plummet and then the game would completely hang for 3 or 4 seconds at a time.

I played one quick round this morning and didn't have that problem. We'll see how it goes tonight.

This is true. I've often puzzled over why he seems to completely hate some types of games, but just gushes over others. That's not saying I don't think he has a logical view of things, only that I clearly don't always understand those views. However, given his love of CoD, I still expected him to be more into this.

SP Campaign?

The only real catch is that the single-player is almost shockingly short. If you've been keeping up with this style of game, you'll probably shoot your way to the credits in under five hours. While you can raise the difficulty to give yourself more of a challenge, the main thing this does is make the enemies frustratingly deadly, which sort of detracts from the fun.

Final bit?

It's a shame that the single-player is so brief, but you should only skip out on Call of Duty 4 if you're the sort of person who doesn't appreciate great first-person shooter multiplayer. The quality of the content in the campaign is totally top-shelf, and the multiplayer is some of the best around, making this a truly superb package.

Let's go into MW2.
SP campaign?

It'll probably take most players somewhere around five hours to get through Modern Warfare 2 on its default difficulty setting.

Final bit?

Since it's building on such a strong framework, it might be hard to go completely nuts over the release of Modern Warfare 2. But if you've played a significant amount of Infinity Ward's last game, the improvements are numerous and they are supremely satisfying. If you've ever been interested in a first-person shooter, buy this game.

I put 10 hours into it and I think that's as far as I'll go. I'm going to ask for a refund

For what it's worth, I actually didn't have any real problems with BF4 but I would never suggest it wasn't completely broken for a huge number of players.

Yeah, I too had no issues with BF4 online during its really broken days(around the time of the PS4 launch) but that doesn't mean that I didn't recognize the fact that there were massive problems with the game.

Oddly enough, it was the BF4 single player that kept on crashing for me

No offense, but how the fuck did they not get it? Sitting right next to the servers they played on? Because even in the beta I was getting slide-shows during rounds on the PC version. I chalked half of that up to the terrible cloud-servers/dedicated servers or whatever they were trying to matchmake me through or whatever and half on the connections to the other players/P2P gameplay.

...what? That's not even a little accurate. You can look at the reviews to see that. Just recently there was bristling in a conversation they had on a Bombcast because he thought Brad was being to reductive in how he talked about shooters.

There's definitely some leaky code in there. Seems like the beta build is what they pushed through as final and they figured they'd patch it later. Hopefully the patch come soon.
