MGSV: Ground Zeroes - Spoilers Thread - #TeamBowie

Didn't it also look like the sky was getting brighter in that shot? Hmm.
possibly, looked more like early dawn than whatever time of night the ending of ground zeroes happens at. but again like i said, that could have just been in there as a 'beauty' shot.

however, looking back on the gdc trailer and comparing it to the ending of ground zeroes, it's the only shot in that chronological space that didn't make it into ground zeroes, which may suggest it's actually part of the phantom pain.

I SWEAR TO CHRIST WATCH THEIR FUNDING COME FROM BLOOD DIAMONDS

OH GOD I CAN SEE IT TOO, I CAN LITERALLY SEE THE CONVERSATION ON CODEC UNFOLD

Snake: Kaz...how are we able to afford all of this anyways?

Kaz: Snake while you were uh...away...the sale and trade of Diamonds has become rather lucrative. So we just got it from certain sources and then-

Snake: Certain sources? Kaz this sounds like we're involved in an illicit operation here.

Kaz: Haha, well isn't that the nature of all black ops anyways? Well you may not know, but the situation in the Congo has deteriorated rapidly and without much regulation obtaining diamonds has become rather simple. All a matter of coercion and intimidation

Snake: Desperate times I guess call for desperate measures.

Kaz: Our funding is a means to an end, the end of Cipher, don't lose sight of that goal Snake.

-CUT TRANSMISSION-

GET IT? DIAMOND DOGS? CONFLICT DIAMONDS?

KOJIMA PLSSSS YOU'VE BROKEN ME

Loooool this makes too much sense.

Diamond thing is pretty well hinted at in the E3 trailer with the diamonds the kids show Big Boss.

They really should have done that epic hand grab with the opposite arms, the ones that they would soon lose, it would have been amazing symbolism for... something, I don't know.

Wait! What does he say about Ghost Babel?!
From what I understand, the non-canon/spinoff/sidestory games (AC!D, AC!D2, Portable Ops, Rising, Touch, Ghost Babel) all get the same lines on repeat:
"Metal Gear... something something..." & "I don't think I remember that one"

The Hideo Kojima games all have the character say unique quotes from the title respectively or give trivia about those games.

But Kojima likes Rising, I don't know what to believe.

Ghost Babel is better than MGS 4. Kojima is a dickhead.

I really like Ghost Babel. The storyline doesn't even get in the way of Kojima's damn canon. Seeing him put it down so often makes me so sad. Putting it on the same level as NES Metal Gear 2 and Metal Gear Solid Touch is just plain insulting.

Yep.

YEP.

That's Kojima.

What were people saying earlier about Portable Ops being canon? Kojima despises that game. Why? Because he didn't write it. Despite it being better written that any Metal Gear game post-MGS3.

Hahaha, that is awesome.

Still canon though. He just treats it like a red-headed stepchild since it's one of the only canon titles he didn't write. Same with Rising, evidently, even though they came out and said that was totally canon too.

Yeah, this ad seems to confirm that there's no lip sync in the Japanese version, like I thought.

It's weird. The dialogue is translated Japanese (where the awkward "Kept you waiting, huh?" is the Japanese phrase "Mataseta Na?" and sentences like "She knows our true nature" might not sound ridiculous), which is lipsynced to Kiefer's reading of the lines. Which is then dubbed in Japanese.

No region gets the best cut of the cake. English speaking areas get weird, directly translated Japanese dialogue, and everywhere else gets dubs without lipsyncing attempted.

It's good, better than I expected. Main problem, though, is that it keeps making me think "that's Kiefer Sutherland" rather than "that's Snake/Big Boss". Pulls me out of the experience a bit.
That's been my only issue seeing videos. He's way better than Hayter for me, but yeah, I gotta try not to picture Sutherland.

You do realize that if canon is ignored, it's no longer canon, right?

Just calling it canon doesn't make it so.

Canon is what you do, not what you say.

Canon is what the series' creator says is canon. Kojima just recently stated that Portable Ops does indeed happen in the timeline. So it is canon, no matter how much some people try to deny it.

It's canon and has had 0 impact on anything thus far.

Except maybe the creation of FOXHOUND.

Ishida I'm just going to warn you now that if you ever again post a useless "no you're wrong and I'm right" post with no reasoning like you do in every single Metal Gear thread, you'll be feeling a Phantom Pain of your own.

Wow, c'mon, so everyone else is just allowed to say "non canon", "it's not", "Kojima doesn't like it" and stuff like that without proof, just because they agree with your point of view?

You know what? That's ok then, I know how it works with you. Why do I even bother. Leaving the thread.
