Well, its weird then, because I could go to the first bonfire inside there without a problem.

Will look around anyways, thanks !

No, I didnt

What's your Soul Memory? Some folks have reported that
if it's over a million the door will open even if you don't have all the Old One souls.

I did, and realize in retrospect that it was a mistake. You can beat him at that point but you're really putting undo stress on yourself. You do get some pretty decent gear for beating him though, which might make it worth it to kill him early.

I have to admit I had some problems with the
Giant
too, so I'd rather not even try right now. Where am I supposed to go next?

Really disappointed with heavy armor and strength in this game. Completely useless in PvP because poise doesn't do anything against player characters, and underwhelming in PvE. Several boss encounters so far have just straight up had unblockable attacks that kill you in one hit. A lot of them require fast movement and dodging. Whoops, you're wearing heavy armor, you can't do that.

I can take my armor off and dodge the whole fight, but really what's the point of my build then? I've had to do this on three of the major bosses so far, and it's a real bummer.

One of the things that separate souls games from other crawlers is the punishing, almost trolling of tank style players. You could tank through Demon's and Dark, but I think they finally had enough and forced people to raise their stats to get fast roll. If you don't roll fast you are not going to have as much fun in Souls. I cant beat it so I just join it, and have been a Ninja/Jedi character ever since part way through Dark.

That said, is it really that impossible to roll with an awesome STR weapon, just have some more respectable light armour? I wear the lightest armour I have found the lightest armour I could find in early game anyway, and likely wont take it off much.

Someone may have answered this already, does anyone know what you get if you kill
the Pursuer the first time he appears in your game world, when the Griffon drops him down on the ledge

Exactly what you get for killing him later unfortunately...bragging rights though....next character will kill him there I hope!

The path of least resistance after
giant
is to go right after the bonfire in majula rather than left.

I'd personally recommend going
down the stairs in Majula that have the weird mechanism at the bottom. Ignore that and continue down the patch that leads to Heide's Tower of Flame. Bosses there are a lot easier.

With the weight of armor in this game, I don't think it's possible to wear a heavy set and fast roll, even with like 99 VIT.

Yeah its slightly over 1 million

Well, I found the way
rat boss confused me, I though it was the end of the area...

I hope being able to enter there isnt a glitch and I can finish the game normally.

Hmm, I'm having quite a bit of trouble with fighting
Hollow King Vendrick
. He has so much health and does so much damage, but I think the thing that's really killing me is the range he has.

Circle around him counter-clockwise and roll when he does his horizontal swings, I was lucky that he never used his magic attacks though.

It's not a glitch, don't worry. There's unique dialogue specifically for gaining entrance to the castle without all four souls. You're fine.

I guess the enemies weren't interested in my presence here, they just stood there I was able to walk right past them lol.

So, in a later area, past the Sh
rine of Amana, you eventually get to a keep. There's a prisoner there that you can release - who is he and what are the implications? Is it NeoYurt??

Exactly, so use a heavy weapon but don't feed the troll by tanking the armour! Follow the link in my last post! The whole set weighs 3 units for craps sake and gives a small equip load bonus even. It's not the best defense in the game, it may even be below average, but trying not to get hit is a fun way to play the game (dare I say quintessential?) I am using heavier weapons with this armour on now, demon machete and Knight halberd, for example and my roll is still decent. I just gotta get a way to upgrade new weapons!!

Just wanted to clarify something I'm a bit worried about: I've consumed
The Lost Sinners Old Soul
, I now see that
Old Souls
are technically key items in a way, have I screwed myself over at all?

Nevlaan? Yeah, he's sort of like Yurt, though I don't think he actually kills NPCs in Mejula. Instead, he continuously invades you as a black phantom wherever you go. He does give you assassination missions, though.

Without being 100% sure, i really doubt that you're screwed for consuming that soul. That would be a really bad design flaw at least.

EDIT: I fixed a typo.

Nah. Though there are in the game 5 Souls that go by the same name which I recommend you keep in the inventory at all times.

Huh, could you spoil this! I am interested.

The Emerald Herald says this at the entrance to Drangleic if you have all four souls:

"This castle is isolated. But nonetheless you must forge on. To bring an end to your journey... and mine."

But if you go in with the Soul Memory she says this:

"Your soul is still frail and pallid... If you proceed regardless, your fate will be more terrible than mere life or death. But I will not stop you, if that is your heart's desire."

Ring spoilers:
Man, the Ring of the Dead is the greatest thing ever. I don't even care about being Hollow anymore outside of when you die too much and have super gimped HP or want to summon. I don't look like a fucking zombie anymore and that is the most important thing. XD

I'm in the same boat. I just ate
The Rotten's
soul after solo'ing him. What do I need all of them for?

I feel the locales are steadily getting worse and worse. Going from
wharf
to
bastille
to
shaded woods
to
pharros
to
brighstone cove
its just uglier and uglier and more and more annoying. Really disappointed in that sense.

It's.... Nothing!

On another note, (special blacksmith)
whats the best weapon/shield to get from the harpy in your guys' opinion? I can only get one right?

I think you can get any one, it's just that the first one is for free (i.e, no soul cost). I'm not completely certain though, I haven't used it.

Having the exact opposite experience.
