That's because TIH was a semi-sequel to Ang Lee's Hulk. It picked up where Hulk left off; Banner in Brazil.
Yeah, that's the case. Ang Lee's Hulk technically isn't MCU, but The Incredible Hulk left off from that one.
I also agree that if Sony needed to do the origin story again, they could have played it less safe and did more interesting things with it. But on the other hand, I think Spider-Man's origin is just in such a collective consciousness at this point throughout our culture that they could have done an intro summary and skipped straight on ahead, with very little ramifications.
I don't think Batman vs Superman is going to "reboot" Batman again, even though it's a totally different one from Nolan's trilogy. People just know why he's Batman and what Batman is, they can stick him in that movie as-is with no real problems.
