Yeah, that's the case. Ang Lee's Hulk technically isn't MCU, but The Incredible Hulk left off from that one.

I also agree that if Sony needed to do the origin story again, they could have played it less safe and did more interesting things with it. But on the other hand, I think Spider-Man's origin is just in such a collective consciousness at this point throughout our culture that they could have done an intro summary and skipped straight on ahead, with very little ramifications.

I don't think Batman vs Superman is going to "reboot" Batman again, even though it's a totally different one from Nolan's trilogy. People just know why he's Batman and what Batman is, they can stick him in that movie as-is with no real problems.

It's on HBO Go this month, haven't seen it since it came out when I was 11, wanted to see how it aged after all these years, especially since I just did the same thing recently with the first Spider-Man.

Time was kind to neither of them, but I suppose FF was never actually a good movie. I didn't even like it back then

What are Gafs thoughts on the Ghost Rider flicks? Those are like, never brought up here lol.

Also, did people think Rise of The Silver Surfer sucked more than the first? I actually thought it was way more entertaining, even though it wasn't good.

I actually watched FF2 not so long ago. Its not complete garbage; I'd put it on the level of the IH and Thor1+2. Its kinda fun with dorky characters. Silver Surfer looks amazing in it. The only thing completely awful is that Nip Tuck guy as Doc Doom.

It always amazes me in these threads just how many people say that Spidey being a smartass isn't integral to the character. The only way you could have that opinion is if your only exposure to Spider-Man was through these movies.

The end of the train scene had it's problems, but Spider-Man 2 was awesome in it's own way.

Glad I stopped watching trailers and features for this after the first one. Sounds like they spoiled pretty much everything, just like they did with Spider-Man 2's trailers way back when, where everything but the last 15 minutes was spoiled.

I thought it was kind of cool and I could see it happening. I mean he just saved them from getting mangled in a horrible train crash. They were thankful. The least they could do is keep his secret.

It wasn't THAT out of the ordinary.

There have been panels at Comic Con where the presenters will ask their audience not to film/leak any footage shown, and they'll abide by that. "We won't tell" isn't super unbelievable, and it's not as if there was a huge amount of people who saw him unmasked anyway.

Andrew Garfield is playing Tobey Maguires character and ASM isn't a sequel to Spider-Man 3. Characters get rebooted all of the time in comic movies.

Well that's the point he was making -- Incredible Hulk was a reboot, not a sequel to Ang Lee's movie.

Some people focus on the Banner in Brazil connection as a link between the two, completely forgetting that every other detail of his backstory was changed from one movie to the next.

In an age where people sold stories to gossip-papers, in an universe where the Daily Bugle is giving out big cash for Spidey's identity, you think it's believable that an entire train worth of people keeps their mouth shut about Spider-Man's true identity?

My point was that just because a movie has the same characters doesn't mean it should necessarily be assumed it ties into other movies like he implied with his post.

The problem is that the part with the people on the train was that it was cheesy =P
Nothing against him losing the mask or anything ...

smh. So much effort to prop up such a mediocre movie like ASM. SM2 is flawed and Raimi's movies in general suffer from a little too much cheese, but ASM is just so damn bland. That one joke that Garfield tells that one time in costume doesn't make him 'comic accurate'. This trailer for ASM2 has me much more positive about the film than any of the other trailers have however.

I'm with you on SM3 though.

I'm reading through Hickman's run in FF right now and it strikes me as the best way to do Fantastic Four; but that probably wouldn't translate to film (or even be attempted).

3. Doesn't care about the comics all that much and recognize the fact that Spiderman 2 is a really great comic book film.

Because they realize he was just some kid who just save their lives while endangering himself?

And even if one of them decides to be greedy afterwards, I doubt JJJ would gives out money to a mere description on how he looks.

IIRC, Spider-Man takes advantage of this in the comics too. "This looks like a job for anonymous white guy!"
 
Is there any chance that the blonde girl won't die in this series? Didn't they talk about her being the main love interest instead of MJ?

Even when that movie came out, a ton of people could have simply snapped a quick image of Parker's face on a phone and sold it to the highest bidder. In this crazy age of lawsuit happy easy-way-to-profit people, that scene seems out of the ordinary to me.
