According to the quick travel screen I'm missing two bonfires in Drangleic Castle. I've got the first one and the central one, but there's apparently two in-between that I've missed?

One its in the area next to the first bonfire, where the Ruin Sentinels are. Its in the farthest left room, go inside and the floor will colapse.

The other is in the stairs before where the Queen is, theres a ladder somewhere there. Its behind an illusory wall, I think theres an enemy where the illusory wall is.

oooh, alright. And where do I acquire these?

three of them are located in the tree memories tha you can find in the Forest. The other in the Black Gulch, drop down where those giant worms appears. Theres a cavern underneath with two giants. The last one is by killing the Ancient Dragon.

With 4 you're good to go though.

So I finished my tour of duty in the Grave of Saints. I will never forget the times I had with my ratbros. I have so many Pharros' Lockstones I don't know what to do with them all.

Just finished the game (at least the main quest) and I must say I prefer DS 1 to this game. I like DS 2 but it just wasn't as memorable as DS 1. Only two really hard bosses in this game that I can remember.
Smelter Demon and Ruin Sentinels
. I still need to clean up 2 optional bosses, but I don't know if I will run through the game again. It just isn't as fun as DS 1.

i made it to the final boss guys! i chickened out because i still want to beat the optional bosses. Btw if i beat the final boss do i go straight into ng+?

There's 1 (
you have to fall through the floor in the room with all the ruin sentinel mobs to get to and another behind an illusory wall between where the painting of the queen and the actual queen - down a ladder
).

Arigato!

So I just entered
the shaded woods
and I think I heard the Claymore was near... Beginning to salivate a little bit. For my strength character that will probably stick with a greatsword and not an ultra greatsword...

Which end game weapon should I start upgrading (I'm coming to a point where I am ready to go +10): Royal Greatsword, Bastard Sword, Claymore or Drangleic Sword? I'm leaning toward Claymore, but I'm open to having my mind changed. Thanks Gaffers!

Drangleic Sword has the best 1 handed movest of any of the greatswords that I've used, along with the best stats for the swords that have the same moveset, like the Royal Greatsword. The Claymore has a very similar moveset, but not as good imo, as the followup to the strong attack leaves a gap and seems to come out slower. Mastodon scales really well with str and would be better I'm sure if it didn't have the overhand slash strong attack instead of the thrust but it is definatly better then the Bastard sword if you are okay with the overhand slash strong attack. . Black Dragon Greatsword has about the perfect moveset all around, but dosn't scale with anything sadly so will not be better in the long run. Most of the other greatswords have some gimmic strong attack that I just don't like. Haven't been able to see the moveset of the Ruler's Sword to know what it is, but know you need more then like 500k souls on you for it to have the same bonus damage as an upgraded Drangleic. At a million souls carrying around it does a bit more damage then Drangleic.

That is my overview of the greatswords that I've used.

It has been interesting seeing Yahtzee's view of the Souls franchise evolve. When he first reviewed Demon's Souls it pissed me off, not so much because he panned it with his usually snarky asshole remarks, but because it was clear he didn't even bother venturing past stage 1-2 before writing it off. Then somehow, he gets into Dark Souls and not only changes his view on the series but actually enjoys it. He even remarks in his review that he should go back and replay DeS.

His remarks on DS2 are spot on and I think a lot of fans will agree. It doesn't break a lot of new ground but it's not a bad game by any means, it's just more of what we love.

Wasn't only how little he played it, but how he got things completely wrong, like some comments about how dodging and rolling worked. Still seems to think they are trial and error games, but whatever.

Im not getting invaded by roy the explorer. Why is that?

If he is one of the ones that invade in rat covenant areas, go offline. Something about being used as an invader for that covenant makes it so the npc red phantoms don't invade you.

Thanks, that was just what I was looking for... I think since drangleic requires twinkling and claymore normal I'm gonna try to fully upgrade both. I am working my way through
Iron Keep
and I feel like I'm coming near the end of the game. Ha, this game is crazy long.

Looks nothing like the epicness that we see int those gifs lol. Its pretty much the same lame punching in previous Souls game except with more combo abilities, a broken infinite stunlock, and higher damage.

question:
Anyone wanna help me remember these doors that I can now open with the King's ring? Already done the one in Forest of Giants and I know about the one in Drangleic Castle.

Have you tried the one accessible from the
Shaded Woods
?

Middle path at the bonfire that leads to the foggy forest

The fork road in the Shaded Woods has one.

Oh my god

So close to killing Smelter Demon and that shockwave attack he does not only hits further than I think it should, it fucking OHKs me. Jesus Christ, dunno if I'll ever make it.

e: oh my fucking god, it happened again, except this time it was literally two sword hits from dying. fuck this shit

I didn't grab a single bonfire in Brightstone. Went from Pharros all the way through the level and beat the boss.

Really didn't like the area.

1.Get a Gyrm Greatshield
2.???

Ok this has been bothering me since last playthrough. The elevator between
No man's wh
arf and
The lost Bast
ille
has an item on obvious display when you go up the elevator, however the elevator does not stop there. How the hell do you get there? I've tried putting the elevator down and using a homeward bone to get back to the bonfire after the elevator, thinking I could just jump down the elevator shaft, but that looks like suicide.

Mess around with the swords since you may favor the Claymore, and it is defiantly easier to upgrade. For all the love I have for the Drangleic it does seem shorter then like every other Greatsword, but since it is the one I've used the most I have gotten use to it. I was really disappointing by the move set of the Mastodon one since I have no doubt it will do a lot more damage, but I just love that thrust attack for how fast it is and t he range on it. The followup circle swing on it punishes anyone that rolls near you or that rolled into a wall getting away from the first attack. I've also killed two bellbros at the same time with it who though that me missing the thrust meant it was time to go in for the kill. That was originally what made me realize how good it was. With 20 end you are able to do the thrust and the followup with enough stam to roll away if you mess up both, or finish with another thrust. With a dragon ring on you can do 4 full strong attacks in a row. For non playable characters if you can stun them with the strong attack you can just full combo them, but got to watch out with the bigger things who don't get knocked out of their hits.

Also the running normal attack is great for all the greatswords that I've tried so don't forget about using that. A quick horizontal attack that leads right into the normal combo can clear people out.

At the top, run into the elevator then run out before the doors close, then get on top of it as it lowers.

Doh! Didn't think you could get out before the doors close. Thanks. Shame the item was so worthless, but there are other elevators with the same trick. Thanks.

Si heard someone mention i could maybe do something in freya boss room, is that thing? if so what do i need?

If you have the ashen mist heart, use it on the dragon.

I'm so stubborn I'll use the same tactics till I die (literally)

Nonetheless, like this shit always goes, I beat him right after posting that. With the help of two online summons, thank god for them. I even sent them thank you messages.

I didn't grab a single bonfire in Brightstone. Went from Pharros all the way through the level and beat the boss.

Really didn't like the area.

Didn't like it because the
spider and spider-hybrid
enemies are freaky?

Or didn't like it because the level design was uninspired and the entire area was kind of bland?

I feel both ways to be honest.

Well there's of course
Vengarls Body walking around in the little room near Freya with the bonfire

Though there us something else you can do but if you've only just gotten to Freya you can't do it yet

Is anyone parrying in this game? I feel like I was doing it more effectively in DS1.

I've seen plenty of people trying to parry me. Only 1 or 2 actually had any success, the 2nd one is doubtful because all he did was stun me and not get the critical hit. But yeah, they nerfed parrying.

I have tried a few times and got smacked down, but I did it a lot in Dark Souls 1.

Though I am just now getting to the point where I can consistently backstab, so maybe I just need to mess with it more. The stuff they changed around really messed with my playstyle.

I feel both ways to be honest.

The second more than the first. I liked the bosses for sure.

But yeah, although I like the implied story based on the enemies and the look of the area, the design was very mediocre.

Keep thinking man, there is something else you can do. Think outside the box.

edit, oops missed other person's post.

Decided to join the bell guarding bunch for the hell of it. Also, free chunks. Whenever I have the Bell Keeper's Seal equipped, I can be summoned, right? No matter where I am?

Yes, but I find myself getting summoned every two minutes or so if I'm in the Iron Keep, so maybe the closer you are to the Bells, the easier it is to be summoned.

Welp, i'm in the room near the first bonfire in Drangleic Castle (the one with the statues) and killed some foes to "activate" the two giants, but the door didn't open. Do i have to kill them all?

If it's the room I'm thinking of, you have to kill one before each door to open them.

You have to activate the doors by killing foes near them, activating the giants only lits the room.

Speaking of bugs, sometimes when I use a homebone, my spell/estus use is not restored and other times it is - Which is it supposed to be and which is the bug, or is it conditional? (scratches head)

Also, what's the general consensus on bellkeeper pvp, am I supposed to follow these bow, be nice, don't heal rules or can I just go all out?

e: if yes, what are the rules actually? lol
