My friends (including IrishNinja) pitched in and got me a really nice copy of Cubivore for my birthday last week. That was really nice of them!

I sold it off long ago when it wasn't worth shit so of course it went up in price. Just like anything else I've ever sold.

And this is why we never sell things...

Those are some great friends!

I never sell anything now. Luckily the only thing I ever sold was my boxed Sega Master System II and the 10 games we had with it, well it wasn't mine per se, it belonged to our family, and we all agreed with my Dad to sell it for $100 and that would mean we would get some rad Christmas presents that year (we didn't grow up with much money).

I say luckily because I snagged another boxed Master System II for $75 (with Alex Kidd built in; I snagged a Sonic one CIB for $10!) a few years ago and all the games I miss are easily obtainable CIB. Still gotta grab the Mickey games and I think I'm done.

But the moral of the story is, never sell anything! :p

What you pay for it?

I managed to get mine for uber cheap.

$15 for one and $18 for the other.

After i bought them i told the store rep the going price. Gamestop rep was surprised but did not care much. Gameover rep was bit more irked that they priced it so low.

Was that recently? If so, well done!

I paid $100 NZD shipped for them both. All the other listings on eBay I've seen are nearly $200 NZD just for one (not even boxed). They were never released here I don't think, so my only option is importing.

I got one a few years back for $60 with a rougher box. Might sell that one now (I know I know I just had a rant about not selling things, lol).

makes sense.

Plus most people (me included) think most reprints are pretty ugly. I think I only liked "The Best" reprints for PS2 Japanese games because they had silver cases. NA had that ugly red, and I'm not a fan of the Gamecube yellow. Oh...the Nintendo selects thing they have going on with the Wii reprints are pretty nice too.

There were the American releases right? IIRC they're much more scarce to find with the North American box and English inserts.

They were open but like new. One was 8 yrs back the other 2yrs. Still managed the first one at $15 and they were already scarce by that time. Play-Asia was out and I think Lik-sang was out as well.

Did they release in the US ? I never saw them.

Yeah, they saw a limited release in North America

here's what the English language box looked like:

Wait, what!? Didn´t know those were released over here, I was so much into GBA games when the GB player launched in 2003 and all the way to 2006, and craved those controllers so hard, I didn´t know about this. Wasn´t able to get a couple of japanese pads back then.

Heh didn't know they came out in English either, even in limited release I never heard that!

I got a black one from eBay or Play-Asia/NCSX or something back when they were new. It was the days when I was younger and I had my parents credit card number lol... so I just ordered so much cool shit. Feel a bit bad now thinking about it.

At least I used the stuff though, I played many games on that thing. Whole GBA games that were much cooler on TV than the original GBA model.

Or the Phantasy Star Online keyboard controller that got maaany hours of gametime!

Better than now-a-days where I still buy stuff but with my own money for it to just sit on the shelf waiting to be used. o_O

Has anyone seen a gamecube like this before? Or know anything else about it? Someone on another forum has it but I'd like to know the story behind it and how rare it is.

Are there any decent alternatives to those hori controllers? They're so expensive. :(

So weird, I wonder what that little window is?

Maybe its a hologram or maybe its a Gamecube core GPU, maybe some of the left over ones.

Pelican made a clone back in the day.

It's shit though, lol.

I say get a SNES->GCN controller adapter. The Hori digital controller is pretty good, but a standard SNES pad feels bettar, and you're not beholden to the GCN action button arrangement for retro compilations and 2D games.

Are there any good ones? I saw a 2-in-1 SNES/NES adapter floating around but then I saw the video...

Hmm, one should think these would be available online, but I can't find them.

I may have missed it as I read through the end of the thread quickly, but I use these on all of my games. Helps keep them from getting shelf wear, dusty, and damaged and keeps them looking brand new. You can get them on eBay for less than $10 for 100 and they are well worth it if you are at all OCD about your games condition. Just search "resealable DVD sleeves" and you should be able to locate them.

Protip: The CD size works excellent for DS and 3DS games, as well as older systems that use Jewel cases (PS1)

I'd def assume it is supposed to be the flipper GPU. Wish I could find some sort of documentation about this. Looks neat as hell.

Did Pelican ever make any quality products? Everything I ever owned from them almost broke instantly. Mad Catz and Nyko def have a better track record even though they can sometimes be hit or miss.

Pelican made an excellent PS2->PS3 USB adapter early in the PS3 life cycle. Totally lag-free, and a lot of fighting game players used them to play their PS2 arcade sticks on PS3 games like Virtua Fighter 5 and Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection HD. IIRC it even had a memory card port that allowed you to carry over PS2 memory card saves for backward-compatible PS3 consoles.

Still, their track record is otherwise awful. So much so, they changed their name to PDP a few years back, and they still make shitty products.

I have some resealable "manga" sleeves I found in a comic store which do the trick, but nothing that is particularly snug fit. I tried asking videogameboxprotectors.com if he would make covers, but he said there isn't enough demand. His PSP-covers fits, only it leaves about an inch gap on the top. But then the games wouldn't fit on my shelf :p

I can't speak to much else, but they made a completely awesome 8-port Component/Composite/S-video switchbox, that I've been using since 2003-ish. I have 3 of them hooked up, actually, and a spare. I hope I'll have them forever.

Agree, they work as advertised and have for over a decade. I even have a baggie full of the extra nameplates. :)

will do...damn, i remember seeing all those quality looking USB dongles a year or two back & thinking i should just buy them for every system to have em, right? but you always tell yourself nah, they'll be around...

Wasn't F-Zero GX like $5 everywhere? It tanked horribly and they made a million copies. Shouldn't be hard to find.

Just won an ebay auction with CIB copies of PSO ep 1 and 2 Plus and PSO ep 3! As well as a loose disc of regular ol' PSO ep 1+2. Will probably sell on the non-plus version. I got it all for under $90, because the seller listed it as "Phantasy Star 1, 2 and 3" without mentioning it Phantasy Star Online in the title.
