What's the recommended memory card? I remember one of the sizes caused troubled with some games.
I'd go with a 251 (the black one), there is a 1019 but it sometimes had trouble with saves. The 59 is a little small, fills up in no time!

I mix PAL and NTSC-U all the time, but you want a separate card for Japanese saves, if you are planning on having any.
1019 does have issues with a few games. Nintendo has some details somewhere on their support site.
The 1019 card was also prone to losing data when used on the Wii but I can never remember if that was a problem on the GC or not.
My 1019 corrupted and never worked again one day a few years ago, and it'd never even been in a Wii at the time... so yeah, stick with 251s, unfortunately.
Wow, I never knew about any 1019 problems, just the capacity-related 59 ones.
I don't know if they're hard to get now, but there are some USB-capable memory cards that allow you to back up to PC. I have one, it's slow and the PC software is written in extremely poor English, but it works:
There are also official SD adapter cards, both from Nintendo and 3rd parties:
If you see one of these, don't get excited: they're useless. You can't use them for saves. They're officially just for Animal Crossing, unofficially for homebrew. But none of them, to my knowledge, can be used to store or backup normal game saves.
I don't think there would be enough demand, I totally wish this would happen though. There's a chip in the cable so that would need to be reverse engineered, I don't know why anyone would find a reason to at this point unfortunately.Did anyone ever think to reverse engineer the GC component cables?
Too much work? Maybe. It has the potential to make lots of $$ though. A much cheaper alternative to the retardedly expensive cables.
Has anyone tried "Road Trip: The Arcade Edition"? There are very few reviews floating around online and it's a gamecube exclusive. It's also known as Gadget Racers in europe and Choro-Q in Japan. I'm kind of interested because you it apparantly has some GBA-GC link functionality? I dunno what it is, but that linking feature is a game seller for me.
Animal Crossing e+ (Japan) can. I think it's just for stuff like patterns, not town data.Animal crossing can read SD cards?
Data from Dōbutsu no Mori e+ can be transferred via a Nintendo Secure Digital Memory Card Adapter that can be used to duplicate and save data on separate SD cards and use that data to upload on the PC or via photo printers.
My friend and I got way into it in our early teens. It's not terrible. I don't think it would be much fun playing by yourself. As mentioned, the single-player has a kind of career mode where you purchase upgrades to your car. The Choro-Q series has a lot of fans (mostly in Japan). Yeah, the Choro Q series is really interesting. The one that you're talking about is more of a racer while the Road Trip on PS2 is more of a sandbox game. The game that was released by Atlus in the US as Choro Q was billed as a "car-PG," which is a cool concept. The GC one is definitely fun.

It's not well known but it had the best football game of the generation too.

Thanks guys, I wouldn't be playing it by myself. It seems the deeper I look into the GC library the more hidden interesting titles I find myself wanting.
In other news, Gotcha Force is way too expensive on ebay. Yikes.
What do you already have?Pal gamecube collection is coming along slowly. What are the rare games I should keep an eye out for?
Made the decision recently to pick up a gamecube instead of a next gen console. Here's what I have so far:
(* marks finished since purchase)
Indigo Cube
Grey Wavebird
Orange spice and White controllers
Zelda Collector's Edition
Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door*
Super Smash Bros Melee
Super Mario Sunshine*
Mario Kart Double Dash
F-Zero GX
Resident Evil 4*
Rogue Squadron 3
Jedi Outcast
Star Fox Adventures
Timesplitters Future Perfect
All collected for just under $300
Nice haul, might I suggest Wind Waker, Killer7 and Viewtiful Joe as potential additions? Wind Waker could be overlooked if you have the Wii U version, but I actually miss the Tingle Tuner of the GC version.
I do have the Wii U version, and that marked my 5th play through. No interest in adding to that now.
I love Suda 51's work, although his more recent advances in gameplay leave Killer 7 lacking.
And I absolutely do need to grab Viewtiful Joe, I had forgotten about that game.
Anything else I'm lacking?
Let's see off the top of my head: Eternal Darkness, Chibi Robo, Star Fox Assault I like it more than Adventures myself), Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (Wii version is good too but I love the bongos), Skies of Arcadia, Baiten Kaitos (original and origins), Battalion Wars, Luigi's Mansion, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes and the Pikmin games (I guess? Wii versions are better IMO).
Some expensive picks there though! Twilight Princess I'd say is worth getting the GameCube version of too but that depends on your preferences.
So I just bought a spice Gamecube to use with my Japanese GB player disc (which strangely was a similar price to just buying a PAL disc) and I'm just wondering, is it safe to use a PAL power supply with a Japanese gamecube? I would guess so since the power supply is external but don't really have a clue about this sort of thing, anyone tried it?
So which one of you paid $436 for this? Quite the collection.

What do you already have?
Wow good price on that though. Component cables alone are like half the price of that entire lot.No F-Zero GX = Not ME.
Keep in mind TP on cube has no widescreen support. Has progressive scan though.Edit: Also I've been keeping an eye out for Twilight Princess for around $30. It seems like the definitive version with the proper left handed Link, and it's the only 3D Zelda I haven't played.
Get the other Rogue Squadron as well!So far I have all the Resident Evil games (1-4 + Code Veronica + Zero), Wind Waker with Ocarina. luigis Mansion, Mario Sunshine and Rogue Squadron 2. I will definitely get F Zero GX even though I sucked at it when I had it originally. What else is worth grabbing collection wise?
Turnkey awesome collection. I almost feel sorry that someone felt the need or want to get of it. The original owner obviously was a person of taste. (I assume the Wavebird was put in another auction. So which one of you paid $436 for this? Quite the collection.

Guys, I may have the glorious opportunity of getting an XRGBmini soon.
I have my gamecube connected through component cables. What adapter should I be looking for if I want to connect it to the mini. ¿Component to scart? Is that a thing?
Because my CRT is starting to show it's age and I want to keep playing on my LCD when the time comes. If you already have component cables for the GameCube, why would you use the XRGB?

I tried to play with it already on my LCD, but without scanlines it looks like crap.

I also recommend Killer 7, Eternal Darkness, Metal Gear, both Metroid Primes (if you don't have them on Wii), Starfox Adventures, Zelda Twilight Princess and both Pikmins (again if you don't have them on wii), both Viewtiful Joes, and some big guns if you find them at a good price:
Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia, Skies of Arcadia Legends, Fire Emblem, Paper Mario 2...
There are other good games worth getting if you find them. This thread is a good read for that.
Max lets you enter your own codes. You can't with the newer, much cheaper one for some reason. Is it worth getting the Action Replay Max versus the vanilla Action Replay? It seems the price difference is quite considerable, but that difference may be due to collectability instead of function. I'd rather spend the money on function, but if that means the Max version so be it.

I had a Gamecube-related scare last week. I was missing a set of component cables - 2 are permanently attached to my console rack on my Gamecube and Q, and I'm supposed to have a 3rd set in my "travel box" with my other Gamecube. I noticed they weren't there.
After scouring my room and storage, and having a heart attack at eBay prices, I grasped at one final straw - maybe I'd lent it to my girlfriend's daughter when she borrowed a couple of Gamecube games, months ago. I asked her, and she did have them. She's a sweetheart, obviously I didn't mention how rare and valuable they are when I let her use them.
I'll never lend them out again, though!
