I thought he was at 343 slaving away at Halo Infinity.
Same thing. I worked with phone team on Cortana as well.

I'm sorry but naming it "Cortana" is super lame.
Nah, it's perfect. It's certainly no worse than Siri and Google Now is just boring as fuck.
it's lame because of the Halo fan-service.
So they didn't even talk about plans to bring it to any other region?
She just replied, "hire juices"
No but it is coming to other regions. They would of course not necessarily use Jen Taylor.
Do you know if I'll be able to switch my language settings to get it on US release?
What the hell is wrong with you?I'm sorry but naming it "Cortana" is super lame.
I'm very surprised this is only for WP. Why not replace the unnatural Kinect voice in Xbox One? Or how about Windows 8?
to all my fellow nokia 520's
no, it won't work
that's not how or why it happened. Verge has a good story about the origin.
What the hell is wrong with you?
Wait what? They said it was coming to all Lumia devices.
It works on 520.Wait what? They said it was coming to all Lumia devices.
It certainly comes across that way.
Sorry I think fan-service is lame. Also, if MS had actually created Halo I might feel differently. But it's simply an IP they bought and exploited. It just seems lazy.
Cortana supports TYPED commands too. That and third party apis makes it a megaton imoDoes anyone, apart from tech buffs, really bother with voice "assistants" and the like? I never use Google Now as I find typing info quicker and more convenient. Besides I'd rather not have anyone in the house know my entire browsing history. I've always felt people who use such software are really just pretentious twats, ditto for those who walk around with their phone arm out in front of them on loud speaker.
Now at least we know that after 7 years your phone will start acting up.
God Microsoft, so transparent.
I think Cortana works well because not only does it sound good but it fits her character. MS owns Halo and is using it well in this way. The people who know and love Halo will love it and the people who have no idea won't know the difference. Its a great name IMO.

Hahahah what?
Pity it's US only to start but I can't say I'm surprised.
I think there's still some sandwiches left at the party for you WinPhoners, but Android got the last of the cake.
Stinkles
Where can I buy that Cortana shirt?

Actually naming it "Cortana" is ridiculous.
Pity it's US only to start but I can't say I'm surprised.
Really? I don't think I ever stood still so I never heard them.Cortana was great in Halo 2 when you refused to move forward. Such as High Charity in those gravity lifts. She would say a number of things to make you jump down one.
So nerdy it's awesome.
Really? I don't think I ever stood still so I never heard them.
I'll do that when Anniversary 2 comes out.
Cortana reminders work really well so far. Some examples of things I've used it for which worked without fail on the first try:
"Every Thursday at 9PM, remind me to take out the trash"
"When I get to QFC, remind me to buy milk"
"When Patrick texts me, remind me to tell him that he smells like butt"
"On April 4th, remind me to cancel my Netflix trial"
"When I leave work, remind me to pick up the dry cleaning"
El Oh ElNow at least we know that after 7 years your phone will start acting up.
