Sega PC ports campaign continues with petition (Vanquish, Bayonetta, VF5)

Petition is like a blast from the past.

After all, if it weren't for SEGA's drive for quality PC ports (back in the day) nVidia would have never gotten its kickstart.

Remember, the NV1 was designed with the intent of making it easy for SEGA to bring games to the PC. ;)

What was with the pickup in signatures over the last few weeks? There was nothing specific I could gather at the time, but it seemed to stall at around 8-9000ish for a while. Then boom!

I and a few others have been doing giveaways on Steamgifts.com to promote the campaign, I firmly believe that played a big role in pushing us over 10K, once we hit 10K Taro sent out a message to all supporters via Change.org encouraging everyone to spread the word. We have also had some press coverage after we reached the 10K milestone.

Ah, that's right... I remember the giveaways. Surprised they made such an impact.

Muchos gracias to yourself and sundry for ponying up for those giveaways! Myself and other PC-owning Sega fans salute you.

Not to sound greedy, but I expected a much bigger impact. The six giveaways that I created had a total of 21948 entrants (excluding the one I did on behalf of ArjanN).

I can't really fault people for not giving a damn about the campaign, Steamgifts.com is a free-for-all sort of affair after all.

Holy shit, 22000 entrants? I mean, I'm grateful for the ones that eventually made it to the petition, but you'd think more than 10% would've put in the effort.

You would think they see after the release of MGS:RR and Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed that there is a market on PC for Sega games. Besides that there are plenty of PC games that buy games they have no intention of playing just cause it's on sale.

Siliconera reports on this but not our petition because it's not "concrete" enough. Still, it is actually rather good news and a positive sign for anybody who wants more Japanese content on PC though (koei hinting at PC releases).

Well it does come from their official Twitter account run by a community manager and does look like they are interested in more games.

When Yaiba did come to PC I kind of assumed it was a feeler to test the market. I was worried about using one of the worst games in the series to do so.

NGZ was not a test, It's not for Ninja Gaiden fans and It's not by Team Ninja. also it's not for Japanese action games fans (you can't even jump) the game aimed for the western action games fans and I think Tecmo knew that.

I think they just put it on Steam because it's a UE3 game and was dirt cheap and easy to port it to PC. if they want a real test for PC gamers, let us have Ninja Gaiden Black.

No way this is going to work

Lets hope it work.

I just wish this petition was more focused (like on only two games -Bayo and Vanquish- for now) instead of asking to other things.

Maybe we could uh... start back up again when we hit 12,000?

It would be sad to see all this effort go to waste.

The twitter campaign need a reboot and maybe even the petition as well. it need to focus on less games at first, also this time drop Bayonetta (as there is no way in hell Nintendo will be ok seeing a PC port of Bayo 1 when they want to sell Wii Us using this IP) and it need to be about Vanquish and Valkyria Chronicles only since it's the only way to encourage SEGA to do it.

I don't quite understand this logic. You can still buy Bayonetta digitally through PSN and XBL. Vanilla Bayonetta being on PC isn't a threat to their sales of Bayonetta 2. If anything, exposing more people to Bayonetta might get them interested in buying a Wii U for Bayonetta 2. And of course the Wii U version of Bayo 1 has all these bonus extras like the costumes and the Japanese audio and the touch controls which you wouldn't find in any other version, including an eventual PC port.

Valkyria Chronicles seems like a poor choice as it would be much more difficult to port than the three games the petition is focused on. If we really need to focus, we could single out Vanquish, as it's a shooter and would be a natural fit for mouse and keyboard, unlike Bayonetta or Virtua Fighter.

It would be silly to throw away nearly 12,000 signatures now. But perhaps a twitter campaign for Vanquish could happen, with the petition for it and the other two games along for the ride.

Nothing has gone to waste, even if we don't hit 20k, just be patient. As for when we do hit, 12k I'll likely tweet the same suspects I've tweeted in the past (as in the outlets who have thus far not covered our effort) but we won't see a particularly notable increase unless we get more press coverage. Some of the previous outlets who've given us coverage might be willing to give us more but given 12k is hardly a milestone vs. 10k they're unlikely to assist us again.

Signed.

How did Sonic Transformed do on PC? I have no idea why these awesome games haven't made the jump onto PC yet. Come one SEGA!

Btw, just saw that Valkyria Chronicles thread: heartbreaking.

Given the number of exclusive characters the PC version ended up receiving it's been surmised that it's done rather well for itself.
