While i would love it, lol, at least the dojo announced the smash release date MONTHS before actual release (even longer w/ the delay). Not gonna happen, haha.

They announced a december release in JULY.
If they announce release next month, I expect August at the earliest.

Yeah, worldwide 2014 seems to be the best choice for both versions.

That's fantastic! I'm so glad you're part of this thread.
Can everyone just sit back for a moment, and just think about how great smash hype is? It's one of my favorite events in videogaming. The speculation, the hopes, the dreams, the ideas, the creativity, the fanart, the rumors, everything! 6 OTs before release confirms my thoughts. No other game generates this much hype in such a great community. Sure, maybe technically, GTA generates more hype in the world at large, sells more copies, but GTA doesn't have pre-hype communities with speculation, ideas, etc. Just enjoy this all while it lasts.

I think this is now the new standard Direct time. My guess is they were testing the waters with a new, American friendly time in the last Direct and they ended up getting many more viewers than normal. I'm fairly certain Directs going forward will be at 7am Japan time.
This game will be out on May 10th I'm guessing. There's nothing to suggest otherwise, and they need SOMETHING to fill the gap between April 26th and May 14th.
I think it's all pretty meaningless, but I don't se why the game wouldn't be out by May.
There is some reason to it: a pattern of game specific directs (mostly) happening close to game release, and a pattern of the official twitter account for two other games being made one month before release.

How would a summer release shorten the window on this? All we know is that it's launching in 2014. That's a twelve month span.
I think it's mostly a joke, but they're basing it off nintendo having game specific directs a month or so before release, as well as game-specific twitters being a month or so before release. That said, unlike every other game like this, smash is a different beast, and is designed to generate hype over long periods of time, like most 'mascot' fighting games are.
You are wondering about baseless speculation yet come up with same stuff yourself?
