It's almost appalling to think that the writer for AgK is the writer for the Maji de watashi ni koishinasai series of VN's. I suppose the years spent writing romcom H-games has permanently screwed up the guy's psyche.

We got Esdese out of him though!

Concentrate more on her and the manga would be truly amazing.

I can't believe I'm the one who has to defend Mahouka as just dumb fun Gary Stu whose plot genuinely doesn't give a fuck. It's fun to watch because it's even more ridiculous Gary Stu to the point it's not even viewer fantasy because, unlike Kirito who happens to be this godly motherfucker for something as dumb as fast reaction time, this guy nobody could ever hope to be.

Most people here have like one show that's considered garbage that they enjoy, which is why it's a shame that all of a sudden we're going to pretend that this is the worst of the worst when again it's supposed to be dumb fun with good action and Gary Stu.

I'll continue to watch because onii-sama is like Batman levels of ridiculous cheese. Sure it's LN trash, but at least it's more like trash food because of the ridiculousness and nobody pretends it's anything else, unlike SAO.

I like broken Tatsuya.

But I can see why people aren't big fans of gary stu MC's.

The SAO comparison when never reading the LN? That I have a problem with.

Weird. I've seen them talk about it every thread. Why would you continue to read something you hate. Either your a masochist or your not being honest with yourself.

Many reasons.

For example, some of us still keep up with Naruto just to see the ending, even though there's a big dislike with the direction its taken since Part 2 (or before) started.

Kamigami no Asobi Episode 1:

Good to know that pandershit can indeed go both ways, yea, this was so dull and lifeless I could only care to watch like the first half before jettisoning it.

There really are a variety of different nonsense shows in the world though, Mr. Woofington. They aren't all made equal.

Sure not everything is made equal. Kill La Kill is like Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus. Mahouka is like Birdemic meets The Room meets Sharknado. The ultimate so bad it's good. And what's SAO you may ask yourself? SAO is The Walking Dead TV series. Where it's crap and people I respect have dropped it, but the general population doesn't seem to mind how crap it is.

Some people just don't appreciate the love of a good waifu.....

I like me a good waifu show. What I don't appreciate is introducing a girlfriend character only to have her all but disappear and whose entire purpose in the show is to be that ball and chain for the main character so he doesn't go for another girl who has more screen time because "he has a girlfriend" which you never see. Seems like a cop-out excuse to not have any progression in the romance department and just keep deconstructing harems, which I don't really care for.

The question they had on Twitter was "What's the children's song the mysterious girl with a backpack played with her recorder?" and the answer they want is "<insert answer here> 星". So the answer should be きらきら (Kira Kira), since it was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Lol.

Thank ya very much.
Speaking of which, the only thing I dislike about this series so far is those two insultingly-dumb designs (you folks who've seen it probably know which two I'm talking about).

It's not that I don't get why we always call LNs trash. I just can't live with all of 'em being trash as long as I still got FMP out of em.
There's outliers to the rule such as Kino's Journey, Spice and Wolf and a few limited others but when it's surrounded by trash of the highest caliber such as I Can't Believe I End Up Fisting Every Sexy Lady I Meet!, you start to despair for the medium.

A shame that the only LN series that I've ever enjoyed, Hakomari, will probably never get an adaption.

Yeah I can understand why some may not like Tatsuya, just like people didn't like Medaka from Medaka Box because she was op. And on the SAO comparison your definitely right.

It's worth repeating that this map represents how lazy this show seems to be. Pay careful attention to East EU and West EU.

That said, I don't know if it's actually a cancer like Sword Art Online turned out to be. Maybe a really bad infection?

Like I said it once already, Mahouka doesn't have incest and theirs a reason why they are so close because it had to do something with their past which is explained later on. And do you really know what incest is because it's where you have a sexual relationship with your relative which is not the case here. Hope that helps.

"So bad its good" is really a very subjective label. For those who don't fall into the "so bad it's good camp" all you're left with is a bad movie/show/whatever, which is why people complain.

first 3 minutes of Mahouka:

- the protagonist nukes a fleet off the map with his magic as his sister tearfully watches:

- efficiently establishes how badass he is at everything:

- incest pandering:

I'm sure the harem will be introduced in five minutes.

This really looks so run-of-the-mill. whats supposedly special about it?

liberally saber

Saber? What show is this again?

World Is Still Beautiful ep.1

There's a lot more comedy in here that I thought there would be.
Okayish start. Will keep trying it.

I keep thinking of "This ugly yet beautiful world" which is a terrible Gainax show everyone should completely avoid.

It's worse than SAO. The hero of Mahouka makes Kirito look reasonable.

Wait...I dont like that description..

Can't stop looking at this >_<

Me neither. But its Shaft. Memorable visuals are what they do.

I honestly don't think there's much point continuing this line of discussion because it's fruitless. I will let the audience at home decided how whether or not this show is literally dripping with incest-laden subtext. I hope this image will help warm their cold hearts:

Saber comes from the dragon riding show. The one I was saying looks like generic harem with special MC who will somehow get every lady after him.

And no it's not the same as Mahouka.

Onii-sama is love. Onii-sama is life.

I never realized Mahouka would be so controversial.

I actually really liked how they explained Magic in the novels and manga.

It's controversial because people see it as a high caliber studio settling for LN crap. But if KyoAni can do it, why can't Madhouse?

I'd have loved to see more of her, but I appreciated the fact that
them dating/ being in love was never in flux or a source of drama at all. They're in love and that is never doubted. There is progression, but it is definitely slow (they take it to the next level in Nise, she gets a chance to protect Araragi in S2, etc).

I understand where you're coming from though.

So by all means this was a pretty bad first episode. Having this show based on an MMO was never a good sign and it turned out to be mediocre after all. Looks bad, action scenes are derivative and boring, the story is average. However, these character designs pander to me a lot. They do look ugly in the show, but the general design gets my approval in trashiness and pandering levels. Either way, I won't bother watching the rest, time is too short to waste it on this.

Mayumi!!!!!!!!!!

Nice to see best girl finally animated.

Didn't like how they changed her first meeting with Tatsuya however.

Already read the beginning twice with the LN and manga, but I still enjoyed watching the beginning all over again. Really glad they kept Tatsuya's self monologue when commentating.

Yay! Mayumi fans.

LN put me to sleep so I hope the anime is good.

Well, here in America we have a saying, if it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...

Even So, The World is Beautiful Episode 1:

Hmm, I am rather torn on this one, on the one hand this might have been the finest episode one I have watched this season and I rather like Princess Nike as a character, this whole arranged marriage to what appears to Lelouch Lamprouge might be the dealbreaker though. I shall certainly need to watch more episodes to better articulate my feelings.

Or how SAO isn't about incest because they never bone, although as I recall someone actually did attempt to defend it that way

One or two of the lines in Genshiken kinda made me wonder:

When did "This is like out of a (bad) light novel" slowly start replacing "This is like out of a (bad) anime/manga"?

I understand where you're coming from though.

Even if there is no drama, I wouldn't have minded if she had a bigger role. This reminds me of Nichibros when one of the main characters, and the one supposed to be the protagonist, disappears completely after a couple of episodes. The creators insisted that "all of the MC's are still friends and regularly hang out" but that those stories weren't interesting enough for the show itself so they focused on all the minor characters.

Either ways the only reason I watch harems, unless they were really funny for me like Baka Test, is to see romance development. If there's none or it's pushed aside for the sake of harem hijinks I lose interest.

Can't wait to find out

guaranteed cutie

From that day on AnimeGAF was divided between people who will enjoy cheesy trash, and those that pretend they're better than that and still watched Kill La Kill the whole way through

Theres still a "faction" of us who will watch almost anything if its entertaining.

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru is the best Shaft anime and one of the best comedies ever made. You should go watch it.

Not the best but one of the best. the problem is Shaft makesl ike 6 best shows and one BEST SHOW...which is

Hidamari Sketch is Shaft's actual best series, which isn't a surprise considering it's the greatest of all anime.

this right fucking here.

It's based off an MMO, so just know already that its probably going to be 'meh' in the story department. The ladies on the other hand... well that's a different story!
