Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. |OT| Tahiti is a Magical Place (to...Hey guys, I found it!)

I feel like Ward's actor is much more comfortable (and likeable?) as a bad guy than a straight-laced agent. This show is definitely more interesting, shame it took them so long to get it going. I guess they had to wait for Cap 2 to get the ball rolling.

so Fury trust Coulson enough to let him know he's alive, but didn't tell May about it, and yet told her to watch Coulson because he's a potential risk?
something doesn't add up .
Fury trusts Coulson. Fury doesn't trust what the GH Chemicles did to Coulson.

Also, we got to see the opposite side of why you don't break protocol. The 2 guards guarding The Fridge are excellent parallels to the 2 guards at the Guest House. If they stuck to protocol, they wouldn't have died and HYDRA would have not gotten Fridge access.

I think a shorter season with a tighter storyline would also help, especially if it leads into something related to Avengers 2.

I would prefer it if they did what Grey's and Scandal did this year - one 12-ish episode arc in the fall and one 12-ish episode arc in the spring. So, basically two seasons in one.

If anybody is interest, here is ABC's press release about the ratings.

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/20...-of-s-h-i-e-l-d-is-up-in-adults-18-49/254640/

some quotes:
S.H.I.E.L.D. won its hour with Adults 18-34 and ranked as Tuesday’s #1 TV show with key Men (M18-34/M18-49). In fact season to date, ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D. is Tuesday’s #1 TV program with Men 18-34 and Men 18-49.

S.H.I.E.L.D. posted ABC’s highest Adult 18-49 rating in the slot with scripted programming since season-premiere Tuesday in September – since 9/24/13.

and the strangest spin:
ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. doubled its lead-in (+100% over an encore of the prior week’s episode),

Well the overall ratings did jump almost half a million.

At least the new number is not as terrible, and the spin shows that they are probably committed to the project.

Rating increased as the show got better? Whoa, that's like some MIT shit.

I assume you mean it got better with the more recent episodes.
There was no live+same day ratings increase.

The show started of very high (hyped, etc.) and then was going down sharp for quite some time. this year it has averaged at around the 2.0 mark.

and the spin shows that they are probably committed to the project.

I am not so sure about that,
because I am not so sure what those press releases accomplish and who they are targeting.

Will Ward smang Skye before he is killed?

I'm now really curious about those female demo numbers.

I looked at the press releases for NCIS:LA and the NBC comedies.
The CBS press release did not provide any helpful numbers,
but the NBC release did.
I shortend it a little bit.

“About a Boy” [...] is up +12% week to week despite special competition this week from ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” [...] In the time period, “About a Boy” tied for #1 among the Big 4 nets in women 18-49 (2.3 rating).

“Growing Up Fisher” [...] grew +7% week to week despite special competition this week from ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” [...] In the time period, “Growing Up Fisher” ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in total viewers, women 18-49 and women 25-54.

I guess that means that SHIELD is below 2.3 with women,
and at third place behind NBC and I guess CBS.

They need to have Ward and Triplett shirtless like every other episode then.
This isn't a bad suggestion.

One thing I've said from the start is that SHIELD needs to start showing off it's male "assets" more. One thing that helps the MCU movies a lot is their constant parade of male eye candy. This is something the show needs to mirror.

This show definitely got better out of nowhere. Glad I stuck with it. The last two or three episodes were great.
I keep thinking Agent Ward is just doing some deep cover Triple Agent schtick and Fury or some other agent put him in that position to infiltrate Hydra- but that's looking less and less likely due to all of these agents and Shield security he is killing.

So a prison holding the greatest villains and the most powerful weapons in the world (in the same place, wth?) is guarded by only two guys and a single secured door?

so Fury trust Coulson enough to let him know he's alive, but didn't tell May about it, and yet told her to watch Coulson because he's a potential risk?

something doesn't add up .

I got that too. Fury trusted Coulson and gave him his badge a long time ago. Since then Coulson went to Tahiti and had May check up on him in case Hydra messed up with his mind. I get the badge is activated remotely and is probably the only way to bring the team to the secret base, but the big Fury reveal? It should have been made to the most trusted agent, the one ordered to check upon the other, once trusted agent. May should have had the reveal, not Coulson who may or may not have Hydra stuff implanted in his mind.

BTW I still don't get why they had to mess with Coulson's brain in Tahiti. They used the drug to have his heart and body regenerate, why would they have to pry open his head and put false memories in it?

They gassed the entire facility. It's assumed the rest of the staff was taken by surprise.

(That's not to say that that's entirely bunk, but they've got less than an hour to tell their story and I don't think they've got the budget to show a prolonged battle in the Fridge.)

You're conflating ideas. Fury wasn't using May to check for Hydra's influence. He was using her just to see how stable he is after the operation. After TWS fallout, Coulson starts to act shaky and May tosses out the idea that it's possible Hydra's tentacles could've reached to his operation.

So far, the idea behind the brain reprogramming was to scrub away any memory of the operation.

So do we think Triplett is SHIELD or HYDRA? I think he might end up becoming the permanent replacement for Ward, what do you guys think?
Before the Ward reveal me and a few others were saying we wish he'd replace Ward- and lo and behold that's exactly what he was brought in to do. The scene with Hand indicated that he's almost certainly SHIELD.

That's what I was thinking too. They just need to flesh him out more, which I imagine they are going to start doing.

They absolutely should. Someone commented on how Captain America 2 had way more female fan service than male fan service, and Marvel is pretty good about that. Honestly guys will put up with a ton a beef cake in a super hero movie because it is also a testament to the heroes being all strong and manly, and on average a lot of girls will need a lot more convincing to get into a superhero media property than a guy will. My girlfriend just goes to her room when SHIELD is on; she told me that if Agent Ward was hot she would probably watch, and I am sure that holds true for a decent amount of other potential female viewers.

I watched 16 and 17 to see the tie in to Cap 2. It's amazing how much more interesting the show can be when it actually feels like it is connected to the MCU outside of saying New York and Avengers a lot.

I will be bummed if it turns out that Ward isn't HYDRA and did what he did to double agent and end up the good guy.

I really want to buy that Providence poster so badly because the poster is so awesome.

I hope it's still in stock in a few weeks. I want to buy it then.

Edit: Nevemind. Looks sold out. Damn. Guess that means I have to buy a generic from Allposters. Dwah...

Get ready for next week!

This is the way they explained it to me:
This guy, Marcus Daniels, a.k.a. Blackout, was shrouded in darkness, his soul, everything about him was shrouded in darkness until he comes across this Cello player. And the music was the only light that came into his soul, and it gave him hope and it gave him some sense of what light was. I thought to myself, oh my god, you don’t even need to explain anything else. Because music, to me, is what gets me through most of the time. My kids, my wife, and music. That aspect of it totally intrigued me. I thought that was quite beautiful and very interesting, that aspect of the character.
