Gameboy 25th Anniversary Thread - April 21

Game Boy still feels good in my hands. The same can't be said about the DS/3DS. Anyone feel the same?

The DS lite would always put one of my hands to sleep after 20 or 30 minutes of use.

My first was the Purple Game Boy Color (the see-through one) which I got for my tenth birthday in '99 along with Pokemon Blue, a game I have spent more hours on than any other except for World of Warcraft.

This year I got this guy on a goodwill.com auction for $15! Gotta admit, it was the near-mint box that made me buy it more than anything. Came with everything inside too except the headphones. Pictured here with my copy of Pokemon Blue. (And yes, I have since cleaned the speaker lol)

Not sure if this doesn't go against self-promotion clause, but seems relevant to this thread...

I have a personal project dealing with music from handheld systems, which at the moment should have pretty much every available music rip from both Game Boy and Game Boy Color.

That's... uhh, more than 1500 games. You're sure to find at least some tunes that are to your liking there. Not all games have had a GBS/VGM rip available, but it's really as close to complete as possible (more than 75% of system games at the moment).

Just go here, or if you don't like dynamically loading system the site uses, you can always go through this link and just use the previous/next buttons to go through games.

Man, I still remember getting a Gameboy and Kirby's Dream Land for my birthday. Probably the best birthday of my life lol.

My first video game device. Got it for Christmas when I was four and also received Tetris, Mercenary Force, Side Pocket and Jordan Vs Bird: One On One from my relatives. I still have it to this day but it sadly no longer works. The plastic has also turned yellow from age. Still, growing up with a Game Boy was awesome. Pokémon Blue, Wario Blast and Dragon Warrior Monsters were my most played games.

Look what just arrived in the post........

Total cost of £33, and the Gameboy itself is MINT. This is one of the only cases I can think of where you look back at something with rose tinted specs, only to get you hands on it and realise it's STILL friggin awesome!!!

Mine still works great (except for that yellow bar on the left sie of the screen), but let's not kid ourselves, it's downright impossible to play in this day and age. I couldn't last more than 5 minutes.

I absolutely adore my GBA SP AGS-101 and still play it on the regular though.

This is amazing! I'm gonna have to get some of these soundtracks for long road trips.
