30 minutes until we know if the players boycott and do the right thing.

Get him to sell immediately.
They already said they wouldn't, don't be dumb, they are not boycotting or coming out in black panther gloves. They play for their teammates and city and to win.

DS: It's the world! You go to Israel, the blacks are just treated like dogs.

V: So do you have to treat them like that too?

DS: The white Jews, there's white Jews and black Jews, do you understand?

V: And are the black Jews less than the white Jews?

DS: A hundred percent, fifty, a hundred percent.

V: And is that right?

DS: It isn't a question—we don't evaluate what's right and wrong, we live in a society. We live in a culture. We have to live within that culture.

V: But shouldn't we take a stand for what's wrong? And be the change and the difference?

DS: I don't want to change the culture, because I can't. It's too big and too [unknown].

V: But you can change yourself.

DS: I don't want to change. If my girl can't do what I want, I don't want the girl. I'll find a girl that will do what I want! Believe me. I thought you were that girl—because I tried to do what you want. But you're not that girl.

--

V: I don't understand, I don't see your views. I wasn't raised the way you were raised.

DS: Well then, if you don't feel—don't come to my games. Don't bring black people, and don't come.

V: Do you know that you have a whole team that's black, that plays for you?

DS: You just, do I know? I support them and give them food, and clothes, and cars, and houses. Who gives it to them? Does someone else give it to them? Do I know that I have—Who makes the game? Do I make the game, or do they make the game? Is there 30 owners, that created the league?

"I'm hearing Clipper players will be turning their team-issued gear inside out (except for uniforms) for all of Game 4. #DonaldSterling"

I dont see how, as a man, you could go out there and play for his organization and look your kids in the face in the morning.

He's disgusting.

They must refuse to play today.

Dont be so sure...

What makes you so sure that they are going to sit out? Some of them are probably playing for their next contract, their only chance to win the championship. Why can't they go out there and rub it in his face on the success they are having? Plus I'm sure there will be a huge fine if they sit out the game or series.

Not to pick on you and others who keep saying this shit, but I think it needs to be pointed out how warped and ignorant many people are on what racism is. This mentality that you can't be racist if you associate with blacks or hire them (or have black friends) is simplistic, and highlights how views on race have shifted over the last few decades.

Sterling isn't banning black players from playing on his team or burning crosses in black people's houses, therefore he isn't racist in the eyes of many people. Or in the case of this post: Sterling is racist yet pays black people millions of dollars, therefore there is "cognitive dissonance." That's simply not what's going on here. Sterling sells a product, and black people help him sell it; they make him millions of dollars every year. He can be racist while still profiting off the people he dislikes. People are complex, race is complex, and racism is complex. It's not "I hate all black people and will never shake their hand or associate with them." Not even the KKK worked like that for the most part.

He repeatedly infers those players are his proper, his wards. He sleeps with and sponsors a "mulatto" girl. His behavior is 100% consistent with a cartoon slave owner. Southern redneck racists would blush at his behavior.

If I was a Clipper there's no way I'd play after reading this.

A boycott would not only aim to shitcan Sterling but embarrass the NBA, who sat back while this guy said and did stuff that would get a player suspended.

Bill Simmons ‏@BillSimmons 4m
As @jalenrose tweeted, the Clips just came out for Game 4 warmups, dropped their jackets at midcourt + came out with their gear inside-out.

PS - all of the Clipper warmups jackets are in a pile at midcourt as they warm up for Game 4 with no logos. Pretty amazing scene.
.

What is the league gonna do? Sterling owns the team, its his property. And how the fuck do these racist mofos hate other ethnicities and be with the same people they hate. Like fucking Lou Dobbs. Doesn't sterling know his gf is fucking stunning bec shes half black?

Self pride probably?

Championship means fuck all when you hate yourself and nobody respects you.

How does winning rub it in his face?

Every game they play makes him more money. The advertising, merchandise, tickets, etc.

If the players boycotted, the backlash from advertisers, fans, the media, etc would force the NBA too take quick action and try to remove him of ownership as soon as possible.

They're not going to sit out. I guarantee that. It would be stupid, and probably would be in breach of their contracts with an asshole who loves litigation even when it's obvious that he doesn't have a strong case.

Not anymore stupid than wearing warm up gear inside out like it means shit.

Hit him where it hurts.

Sit-ins and other civil disobedience actions are usually breaking the law too. Goes beyond even employment contracts.

I know that, but I'm not risking millions for that gesture. Likewise, not being able to eat at an establishment or have violence committed against you isn't the same as some dude mad about instagram pics with blacks.

Some of you are making this out to be the civil rights issue of the day. I hope he loses the team, but I'm not expecting or requesting the players to pretend they're the MLKs of the 21st century.

Damn listening to the game on the radio... shit is going down. I hope they're able to force him out as owner. I, for one, had never heard about this I think. What a piece of shit.

I think a lot of people including me would like to know who are these friends of donald sterling that judge his girlfriend based on who she has on her instagram. He is a billionaire so obviously he is friends with fellow people who may own teams or be owners of companies.

Are you reading the shit this man is saying?

I'm sorry, but fuck the cash. Any black man who would play even one second for this racist fuck after his ignorance just got aired out for the entire world to see ain't got no self-respect and sure as shit ain't getting any respect from me.

But, they're getting paid, right?

Coon train is comin...

They should be allowed to wear generic gray jerseys for the rest of time if they want to as long as this piece of shit still owns the team

Was there this much anger when that housing discrimination thing with Sterling was going on a few years back?
No because it was only screwing over poor people. People care now because it involves celebrities. It's stupid, but at least something should be done about it now.

So be it. I doubt he'd win. Besides, they've already been paid their salary money right? Playoffs are a bonus.

There are athletes who suffered far worse to defend their beliefs.

DAT CAPITALISM.

Muhammad Ali stood up against the US government for what he believed in and lost his title, boxing license, and was almost sent to prison. The whole excuse of them not boycotting because of a contract is garbage.

Most of the team are all multimillionaires, boycotting one game in the playoffs would go a lot farther than losing a 20-30k bonus that they would receive.

Sit your ass down, and take a deep breath. Until you show me you'd make the same choice, you're just a mad keyboardist in my opinion. Playing social activist with other people's money. You want a list of every organization with racist top executives, so you can speak with your wallet, or nah?

Thing is, folks dont want to fight for anything anymore. They want to have it given to them without giving anything for it.

I'm sorry, but if these dudes go out and play for this racist scumbag today they are sellouts in my book.

Damn my cousin is at this game... I would have gone just for the drama but the NBA is dead to me.

Unless they also wear their jerseys inside out, it seems like an empty gesture. What makes the jersey different from warm up clothes that they'll wear one showing the team branding but not the other? And now there will be a circlejerk from ESPN's usual NBA fanboys about how brave and heroic their meaningless gesture was...

How much money does one need?

I'm no expert, but I'm willing to take a stab in the dark to say most of these guys have been in the league for a few years and thus are all millionaires already. Do they need to be as rich as Jay-Z and Bill Gates? They're already made.

How much is self-respect worth?

I suspect there is a 0% chance of him being allowed to keep the team after this.

The employees are letting their feelings be known, and letting the process work itself out. If the NBA doesn't force him to sell, that's when they'll bring out the heavy artillery.
