Do you find the controls enjoyable and easy on the Vita? I am going to get this game anyway for Vita as I'm a big fan of MGS and want to support it now that it's on sale. I missed the last sale being away. To be honest, I played MGS2 so much I'm not even going to play it but I really want MGS3.
It works very well on the Vita, considering.
I miss the analogue face buttons on the PS2. I used to love the feeling of slowly releasing my thumb off the [] button to not fire a around. On the Vita, this is done by pressing down on the d-pad when you're already pressing []. So a workable solution.
The lack of L2/R2 is a bigger issue. To open up equipment or weapons (or quickly select/deselect), you have to use the front touch screen. That's fine. But to change equipment or weapon, you have to keep your finger held on the screen and scroll up/down. This is pretty fiddly, so not something you;d want to do in the heat of battle.
The small, sunken Select button the Vita is hard to quikly find, but that's no big deal really.
As for the rest, general controls are great. No issues there. Haven't found the analogue sticks too fiddly or sensitive, which was a complaints I'd seen made by others.
Out of curiosity, what is the opinion when comparing Tactics Ogre to the Fire Emblem series?
They're different games really. TO has far more depth. Of the handful of FE games I've played, once you have the basics down, the game becomes a breeze. There were a bunch of stages in TO which took serious thought about tactics and squad selection. In FE, my team would always be based on personal preference rather than strategical need.
I love FE to bits, and rate FE:Awakenings up there with TO:LUCT. But TO was the more affecting game to me, and I have no hesitation in saying it's the best SRPG game in the whole genre.
