Point n Click Adventure GAF 2014 No longer in our dreams, memories or just Germany.

^Hmm makes sense. Anyway I finished the 4th game and DAT FINAL CUTSCENE!

Gonna take a break from the series a bit...like until Playfire offers rewards for beating/playing Epiphany. I've spent maybe 4ish days playing through the 4 games and had a blast, this is now among my fav. PnC games along with Monkey Island and Broken Sword =D

just started Blackwell Epiphany, won't put time into it until tomorrow, but got butterflies at the boot screen. I loved this series so much, sad that this is the last.

Puzzle Bots was pretty short and sweat at 2.5hrs. Puzzles where very logical and it was great game.

edit: anyone wanna make that Tesla Effect OT? I honestly can't be bothered.

I can make a quick 'Discussion Thread' like I did with Moebius.
Keep in mind that I am on media blackout on the game ^^;

Ideally whoever does the OT needs to have played at least one of the big three - Under a Killing Moon, Pandora Directive and Overseer - recently enough that they can get across what's so great about the series to those who've never played it

That's not me. :/ I really need to replay them all before Tesla hits.

True, true. I think that's what I'm gonna do soon. I'll replay the past Tex Murphy games I got off gog.com in preparation for Tesla Effect.
Non the less if no one's stepping up to make the OT within the next 24 hours I'll make a Discussion Thread in GD.

I have recently played all the FMV games but I haven't got great photoshop skills to make a fancy OT. Anything I will make will be basic and copied from the Steam page and official website like all my OTs.

We should make a pastebin and collaborate on the OT. I can start with something basic and if you guys want to expand on it then feel free.

Hey simple can work! A banner, simple details, links to images and videos; all hat would be enough for an OT. I can try and make a noobish simple OT banner too =V

Sorry for the double post but I ran overseer just to change its options and the intro cutscene does not play right! It's 2 small green boxes and the video is messed up, how do I fix this? I'm running Windows 8.1

Jolly Rover it's not actually that bad.
It's a bit amateurish and looks kinda short but it's enjoyable nonetheless. Some nice puzzle, decent enough story, but a bit lacking in the art department and the main character is pretty anonymous, as are the musics (voice acting isn't bad anyway). But it's still fun... I think it's worth its price.
Also, the hint system is pretty nicely done.

I wish I liked 90s FMV. I thought it looked hideous at the time, and still do - I cannot enjoy the Tex Murphy games, or play Gabriel Knight 2, as a result of how bad I think they look. It's not an issue of old = bad - I just hated the style then and don't like it now.

As such I can't get interested in the new Tex Murphy (also I played that Three Eyes to Midnight or whatever it was they released a few years back which was one of the most tedious hidden object games ever). I would like to get over that issue, but I just haven't done so.

If I'm honest, if someone could demake both Gabriel Knight 2 and 3 I would be very happy. Bad FMV and early 3D nightmares replaced by VGA graphics or similar would be absolutely brilliant.

Seriously such a fucking underrated genre.

From the glorious Syberia to the mindblowing Long Journey.

LAST LIFE by Sam Farmer

6 more days left - LAST LIFE

How the heck do i solve this puzzle in Resonance?

OCcka.jpg
Hate that puzzle, iirc you need to calculate the difference between the two values, in terms of letters and values, it changes with each game.
The difference between the will and the blueprints is +4 letters and -4 numbers So you callibrate the arm to point to the location that is +4 letters and -4 numbers from M20:
Try Q16 then retrieve the documents.

Basically you trick the machine into thinking its giving you the will, but since you offset the M20 value by the difference, it's actually giving you the blueprints.

THANK YOU

Q16 worked. For some reason i was going Q10. I spent almost 2 hrs trying to working it out.

So, damn. 5 Days A Stranger. Just beat it and that was amazing. You could feel it wasn't a new game, but it creeped me out more than recent games have and the plot is fantastic. I see there is a whole mythos behind these games, so gonna need to read those side stories as well.

Anyone got a tweek guide for The Next BIG Thing? The game itself is impossible to google. It runs below 30FPS and i can run games like Witcher 2 with no problem and its smooth. All i can see is a option for a resolution change and nothing else.

Wait for the remake!

Only if he wants to trade the uber charming 90's Sierra aesthetic for inferior art direction. ;)

I'll admit the GK remake doesn't look half bad, but I am always skeptical of point-and-click remakes that replace the graphics of classic games with low-budget HD graphics.

Finished The Raven on PS3. Maybe I am just starved of point and clicks to play on console but I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Well, the remake is supposed to have some extra content... but admittedly, after Moebius, I have absolutely no faith in Phoenix Online being able to make this the definitive version of the game. :(

People aren't happy about the scenario around The Whispered World: Special Edition.

This response from Daedalic is hilarious.

Hi all,

we have been asked if owner of the Steam version of 'The Whispered World' have to pay the total price for the Special Edition.

No, they don't have to!

Players who already own the digital version of The Whispered World on Steam, will have the opportunity to purchase all new digital contents of the Special Edition at US$ 5.00/ €5.00 within the first three months after release.

Best,
Your Daedalic Team

I don't think they understand why people are complaining. ;)

What's this special edition? Are they charging people for Steam features and commentaries? o_O

Pretty much, no graphic enchancements like widescreen or improved assets, no steam achievements. They are charging existing owners $5 for a patch that adds Steam cloud, trading cards and commentary.

What a terrible company. I don't mind if they charge for commentary as DLC but add the other 2 stuff for free to the base game for fucks sake.

Eh, this is the company that proudly proclaims how cheap their games are to make while apparently offloading a lot of work onto interns.

It's not surprising.

Could also be a way to try and game Steam. Does an entirely new release get more store exposure than an edition added to an existing release?

oh man, and that's the weakest of the 4 game series. If you're impressed already, Trilby's Notes (game 3) will blow you away.

Chzo mythos quadrilogy is amazing.

Friend was awesome enough to gifted me Blackwell Epiphany. I can't wait to play after work tomorrow :)

I hope one day my idea for an adventure game becomes tangible.

And before I forget,
I was going to contribute.. but they don't have a physical edition copy which I would've gladly paid $100-200 for.

I'll pass on the t-shirt and patch and get the same game everyone else is getting when it releases. still looking forward to it.

The best is yet to come. ;)

The sequel - 7 Days A Skeptic is IMHO better (
by being set on a spaceship it's much more claustrophobic
) and Trilby's Notes has this Silent Hill-esque atmosphere. The last game, 6 Days a Sacrifice, from what I remember is more story heavy (there's more focus on story and less focus on puzzles), but it ties all the plot points from previous games really well.

And before I forget,

Wow, the aesthetic looks amazing. Love it. :D

I've been working on this little project of mine for a while now. I originaly started this as a way to get into scripting for the Visionaire Engine (http://www.visionaire-studio.net) but over the course of time it took a life of it's own...

Now I'm looking for feedback, so I thought this was the perfect place to post this.

Zak McKracken - Hot Coffee WIP

This started as just a way of me getting into scripting and using assets I had at hand when working on the Zak McKracken: Between Time and Space project. Credit belongs to these fine people! (yes, I'm in there too)

Controls:
- left mouse button hold brings up a coin menu.
- right mouse button is look at command (for where I made it work for now)
- double click - standard commands like open open or pick up (i.e. open doors by double clicking).
- ESC or F5 goes to the save screen
- Space is for displaying hotspots, still testing this currently only works in 2 scenes (outside and inside the office), each scene using a different effect atm. Which one do you like better?

Once you are done with the
dream sequence
you can keep exploring (there are a few more locations available) but there are no real puzzles to solve except for 1 (how to cross the water at the north pole).

Let me know what you think. Did it crash? Did you figure out what to do when
dreaming?

The DeFoe games are fantastic.
I would really, really love an HD remake of them. And more games that explored the Chzo Mythos more.

Well, I'm finally going to start Broken Sword 5. Very excited.

I should really go back to the game and finish it. I think I'm at about 75% point and stuck with a puzzle, I'm not sure what the game wants me to do. But anyway, I should be able to figure it out eventually.

I'm scared to play Broken Sword 3.

It's not bad. The story and dialogues were fun. It's just that there's a lot of crate pushing puzzles, stealth sections and QTEs. Those things should not be present in a Broken Sword game. :/

3D graphics weren't that bad (well, for the time; dunno how it holds up today). The cartoony aesthetic helped a lot. I think I even prefer it to BS4 graphics which, while technically superior, due to more realistic art design looked worse.

Wadjet Eye fans: GoG's midweek Indie Gem sale is 50% off The Shivah: $2.50. Thought some folks here might be interested... while I try to remember if I already own it elsewhere or not.
