People are chomping at the bit off of these few, terrible screenshots.

When a proper trailer with context is introduced, these same people posting in this thread (and many more) will be even more hyped.

Praising will intensify. Don't worry.
 
If this is real and a PS4 exclusive, then I'll buy a PS4 for this and are able to enjoy some other sony exclusives as a nice byproduct.

Amazing, I really thought I would skip this console gen, but not when From is doing exclusives.

I'm making my way through the PC version of the first Dark Souls atm and I am simply in awe at the quality of most parts of the game design and the world. There are a few badly designed boss battles, but overall this is probably the best game I've played since Ninja Gaiden and Half-Life 2.

A succesor would absolutely justify the purchase of a console for me.

I find it so cool the character has a shotgun and is wearing a silk top/bowler hat (or something similar, I am sure someone will correct me).

Also, people saying the shotgun rules out magic need to read the bottom of the OP, where it says 'fireball' and 'magic sword in pedestal'.

...this might be the morphine talking but I'm 100% sure that even if all the "leakers" each shared One project each there would still be a lot left to be excited about.

Yeah I both glad and sad that I heard this news today. Glad for obvious reasons, but a part of me wonders how it would have went down during it reveal at E3, GAF would have went down for sure.

You might already know this, but many people consider Demons Souls even better, so if you dont have a PS3, you should definitely pick one up for cheap solely for that game.
 
Well, I knew I'd get a PS4 eventually. Beast cements it.

In related news, I hope they go with a Dark Souls flask system instead of the easily stockpiled grass from Demon's Souls.
 
Im down for a Souls game every year. Beast Souls one year, Dark Souls the next.

Just keep them coming. I dont want to play anything else!

I don't think I even have a reason. Maybe just "dark" plus "long coat"

I looked at the screen shots on my phone literally two minutes after waking up and it's all it reminded me of ;_;

We should never take such awesomeness for granted.Like everything else, these games will one day be gone.

I am very grateful something like this exists at all.
 
Thinking back, I can't believe how tight a grasp the Souls series has on me (and apparently, everyone else in the thread). In all my frugal-ness, dropping $460~ for a ps4 & game never sounded so easy. Jesus, From. Dat grip.
 
I can't believe this thread is going so strong, when they show a proper clean trailer the internet will explode.
I really need a ticket for that hype train too. It intensifies!

I know its not what I think it is... Im getting a little too hyped..

But this shot reminds me of the stairs from firelink shrine leading down to the graveyard area in DS1 (on the way to the catacombs).

I'm mostly shocked with this news coming only a month+ after the Dark Souls 2 release. Completely unexpected for me at least. I am of course assuming this is a Souls title of some sort. If it's King's Field or something new, the "press release" isn't as unexpected I suppose.
 
It'll still have swords and stuff of course. A shotgun might as well be a magic for it's practical application. It's not going to have turned into a shooter.

You... understand that forum poster hype counts for approximately jack shit in the actual sales performance of a game, right?

That's fundamentally what drives this narrative of controlled leaks, I guess: forum posters thinking that as clearly the most important customers, a publisher's top priority is to ensure that they have a steady stream of "hype." In reality the publishers' priority is getting a ton of more casual buyers, who are hugely influenced by the media but almost not at all by forum hype, to be aware of the game and interested in picking it up.

You basically have to drill down to the type of ultra-niche, 50k-or-less games that only forum posters really pick up before this equation changes, and Souls is way bigger than that these days.

I thought of Cap'n'Hands when I started looking at the character, from the old PS classic LOADED, if anyone remembers that rather obscure but brilliant game:
