He basically says that a non Peter Parker Spider-Man wouldn't sell. He might be right, but I would've rather they tried that than a Venom film lol.

I'd love to have the death of spider-man to be a big thing. Have a real, well-written trilogy (it can be done, I swear), introduce Miles as a character early on (maybe movie 2?) so it feels like a natural development when Peter dies at the end of the third and Miles steps in.

And then for movie 7 when they go totally off the rails do the whole Superior Spider-Man thing because that would be awesome

Didn't like it much, too much shit going on at once just like Spider-man 3. I liked how they showcased spidey's flexibility and acrobatic ability though. I'll honestly never watch a Spider-man movie from Sony again.

I watched this earlier today. Overall I liked it! Or, at least had fun. I didn't particularly enjoy the first ASM that much, but I liked this one a lot better. That said, there are some problems (and some good points):

+ Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are great again. They just have fantastic chemistry and really inhabit their characters well, despite the writing failing them at times. They are well cast. And I really did feel a bit emotional when Gwen died. At least they kinda sorta rectified Peter being a dick to Captain Stacy... by making him a dick to Harry Osborne. The bittersweet ending and Peter becoming Spider-Man again were fantastic though. There were some great character building scenes scattered throughout.

+ I liked the villains. Liked Harry turning into the Green Goblin instead of Norman. Peter really does come off as dickish instead of helpful to Harry (you could have at least told him you'll work on it). Actually, I really liked Harry's character a lot (before he went totally laughing insane and revenge-driven). Dehane did well with the material he had. I liked his story of just wanting to survive and then OsCorp, being the assholes they are, screw him and Electro over. Electro actually was pretty cool. I mean, Foxx's depiction is hilarious and over the top, but I had fun, and I loved how his powers were presented. He really did feel immensely powerful by the ending. Loved him being able to phase in and out of reality and through wires and lightning, and I loved how he sees the world. Harry and Electro teaming up was actually a great moment, when Harry breaks Electro out, and Electro helps him cause it's the first time someone has needed him, truly.

I kind of hope the Sinister Six movie is like this. That scene really did feel like these two characters were in desperate and tragic circumstances and their plight felt more interesting than Peter delving into am OsCorp conspiracy.

+ Action scenes and Peter's abilities were well displayed

+ Rhino was hilarious. Lol, Giamatti, what are you doing. I think Foxx and Giamatti knew exactly what kind of movie they were in.

- The writing's not that great.

- The film is very unfocused and jumps place to place.

- The film's tone is so weird. Sometimes it's serious and gravity, other times it feels like Looney Tunes (Max Dillon pre-Electro and the mad scientist at Ravencroft).

- Everyone at OsCorp is an asshole. Every fucking one. Holy shit guys, these are literally the most evil corporate douchebags in the history of cinema. I hope the Sinister Six film is just Harry recruiting people in tragic circumstances screwed over by OsCorp and then coming back and killing everyone and then crippling Smythe.

- I still don't give a shit about Richard Parker.

So all in all, I (and my friends) ended up liking it a lot. I'll probably rewatch it on BR. Definitely an improvement over the first one. Makes me excited for the Sinister Six flick and ASM3.

----------------

How are they gonna make a Venom flick if Peter doesn't get the Symbiote? I mean, we're gonna see Sinister Six next year, then ASM3 (which I assume continues from SS) and then Venom?

I saw this tonight. The biggest complaint I had was there wasn't a single scene in this movie that didn't have music in the background.

Why in the hell was some pop song playing while Peter is putting the map of his parents stuff up on the wall?

The scene when Gwen died would have been so much more powerful if that awful music wasn't playing in the background.

Just a terrible job all around in regards to the music/composition.

That side, I enjoyed the movie otherwise.

This was kind of bad most of the way through. Ending sequence saved it for me. Even though I knew about it from the comics I thought the Gwen Stacy death was well done. Pretty brutal. Thought that they wouldn't go through with it cuz the chemistry of the leads is so good. That and peter seeing dead dad Stacy.

Maybe one day marvel will get control of all of its properties so we can have a real marvel event.

Seemed like they were clearly setting up Black Cat, which would be fantastic to do before bringing in MJ.

She was only in there a little, but good God is that girl cute. I hope she comes back in Sinister Six to help Harry.

I know that these movies are about Peter Parker, but I really do find myself more sympathetic towards Harry Osbourne. He's interesting. I hope they keep some of his sympathetic qualities (maybe regret over his actions in his more lucid moments) rather than just have him be the stereotypical comics Goblin.

Harry as the protagonist of Sinister Six has gotten me excited, actually. This movie was worth it for that set up alone.

But still, ASM2 is solid. I think the good parts definitely outweigh the bad. I wonder if ASM3 will resolve the ASM3/Six/OsCorp plot and then they'll start a new story about the symbiotes.

I said earlier that the first movie to cast Black Cat wins by default. Technically she was only "Felicia" in this so it doesn't count, she'd better fucking show up in ASM3, costume and all, and not just be a name-drop to satisfy nerds

The truth is that there's only one Peter Parker who's been there for me. Who makes me feel like I'm more than I ever thought I could be. That I'm just me. And that's okay. The truth is, I love you. Oh god I love you so much, Tobey.

Well jeez why don't you marry him then? Then refuse to marry or acknowledge him after he makes out with Bryce-Dallas Howard, then break up with him later after harry threatens you to do so only for you two to get back together after a typical having to get rescued yet again from venom.

How about that Sculli?

I think there are some compelling arguments on both sides for whether or not Miles should ever be introduced on film. It just comes off as Producer talk from Arad, like he's just trying to sell the current films instead of thinking outside the box. I do understand the thing about the general audience, and how a lot of people only know Peter as Spider-Man, which is fine.

Miles is a very hard character to do independently of Peter, and probably not worth the hassle unless you're just adapting Ultimate Spidey in its entirety.

Not saying the movie didn't have problems, but you can shit on generally any superhero movie by putting it under a microscope like this lol. Plus this guys sounds really annoying.

True, if they're gonna keep doing Peter though, lets hope they start pulling from some good Spider-Man stories.

Why wouldn't he get the symbiote? They can have their Sinister Six movie (whatever it is), have them all against spidey in ASM3 where Peter finally beats them with the black symbiote, takes it off when he realizes what it's doing to him, it finds Eddie Brock, Venom movie, then ASM4 against Venom.

yep what i was thinking too...sinister six would be a good bridge to the symbiote. then they could finally wipe topher grace as venom from existence.

...is it bad that I find Spider-Man 3 more entertaining than ASM2?

Harry's inclusion was all so sudden and his conflict was rather abrupt rather than slowly building up. Electro was bland (much like the the traditional one, lol). Peter's angst felt... out of place.

You're acting like I ever defended SM3.

Is this movie doing well? I hope it flops terribly and the comic bubble bursts soon. Mediocre shit after mediocre shit, then you have this fucking TURD. Disgusting. What infuriates me is that people not only tolerate, but ENJOY these movies. Like, how? Do you watch one movie a year or something? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, I genuinely don't understand how.

After all the hyperbole about how terrible Spider-Man 3 was, isn't it sad that I'd rather watch that film a million times over then this piece of shit again?

Everyone involved in the making of this film should be fucking ashamed. ASHAMED.

You know it wont be long until we get another reboot (especially after this flop). Can't wait to see that AMAZING MIND BLOWING origin story again.

It's poised for a $95m domestic opening weekend. Expect plenty more of this trash.

I saw the movie yesterday in France, and damn, that was amazing and spectacular !!!
And this finale... it was so superior to anything I've seen!

likewise..

Saw it last night. I really enjoyed it. One thing really bugged me about the writing, but I think I'll get over it. It was fun and I still love Spidey. Just don't make my superhero cuss please, thx. :) (though it was Peter who slipped, but still)

Anyway, I'm guessing Harry Osborne will be the main character of the Sinister Six movie and that the events there will take place during the 5 month Spider-Man hiatus with Rhino being among the last to join. I find Harry a bit interesting and I'm hoping for some inner conflict and not an all out maniac.

I still expect Peters dad turn up wearing venom suit or be alive. After intro where we see plane crashing we know his mom is dead but not his dad.

Seriously would not shock me if guy in hat talking to Harry at end is peters dad

I liked Harry better in SM3. He had 3 films worth of character development so his actions were more believable than the Harry of ASM2 who's turn to evil felt pretty rushed. ASM2 and SM3 are pretty similar with their flaws but I think ASM2 is better over all. I really dislike Maguire as Spiderman and I thought ASM2 had some really entertaining action sequences and humour. Plus as far as villains go, you can't get much worse than SM3's Venom.

educated guess: They gave a lot of goblin&son treatment on the past trilogy, so they skipped Norman in this one for the sake of not repeating the same thing all over again. That's why we have different vilains but the greengoblin appearing was necessary

Strange movie. Had some painfully awful and stupid moments. Had some moments and ideas I really liked. Kind of slow and boring, but some cool action scenes.

Gwen's death was good. I was glad she was just dead. No goodbye or I love you, just dead. Kind of a rare thing to see in movies and it made it feel a lot heavier.

Harry being the worlds greatest detective was pretty bad. "Spider-Man was bitten by one of our spiders!". Really!? You don't think he injected himself, or he was just another Oscorp experiment. He fucking nailed that shit dead on. Spider-Man saved Gwenn, he must be Peter. Does Spider-Man date all the people he rescues?

And, holy shit whoever was working those cameras was terrible. Gwenn and Peter's scene outside the restaurant after graduation was the most out of focus shit I have ever seen.

Seriously would not shock me if guy in hat talking to Harry at end is peters dad

He's helping Harry put together a team to kill his son?

He's helping Harry put together a team to kill his son?

from the trailers, and probably on the uncut version of the movie, harry knows that peter was put under surveillance by Oscorp. He probably thinks it's about his father at first, but then everything "clicks"

He's helping Harry put together a team to kill his son?

Eh with whole blood theme we getting I think needs his blood or something to control a power he got(venom).

We had Harry cursed with disease passed on from father

Peter blood is unique like his fathers so can only get power from the spider venom

She was only in there a little, but good God is that girl cute. I hope she comes back in Sinister Six to help Harry.
She had no reason to exist in this film. Seriously, they had the perfect opportunity for her to actually either steal the serum or just manage to hack into the doors or whatever. If she isn't sex on two legs by the time she becomes Black Cat, I have no idea why they even bother having her in these films.

I liked Andrew & Emma's chemistry.

I liked the action sequences. Especially Times Square.

I dislike how now EVERY villain apparently originates from Oscorp now, really? Doc Ock's arms are just sitting in that room? Along with Vulture's wings? What a bunch of nonsense.

I HATED Norman Osborn, the whole "We has a disease that'll kill us!" plot. Let's be clear about this, Norman Osborn is the fucking Green Goblin, he's the best Goblin, and he was responsible for Gwen's death. It annoyed me about how Harry went about becoming the Goblin, the entire neglect of the Goblin serum, the entire lack of Harry/Norman having any interaction, and of course Harry going full villain because....why the fuck not? Say what you want about Raimi's films, but I thought the entire Green Goblin arc had come full circle and was built up very well in all 3 movies(And should have been the prime focus of the 3rd, but I won't get into that). What happened in this movie to the Green Goblin was a bunch of nonsense, unfaithful as shit to the comics and left a terrible taste in my mouth.

If his father needed his blood, I think he'd just show up and ask for it. There is zero chance that that is Richard helping Harry. That is complete nonsense.

When Venom shows up, it will be Brock. He is getting his own movie.

Saying something that was cut might make it make more sense doesn't make the movie any better.

It is crazy how much was clearly cut from this movie again. Especially the post credits scene. I wonder if they've just straight up changed their mind about doing something with Norman and he'll stay dead. I expected Harry to die, setting up Norman for Part Three.

It's a shame because everything else about their relationship was very natural and believable (setting aside the super powers, of course) but just so odd to add in the stalker angle. I mean I get that people can be obssessed and its "ok" in this case because they were both interested in each other but I would have expected a weird reaction to being watched not a flattered one.
I mean...I would be pretty okay with being watched over by spidey. It's like having your own bodyguard. But superpowered.

Also ASM is the only world where 5 months has three seasonal cycles.

So you're saying August in New York and December can't have seasons that vary wildly? Of all the things to complain about in this movie, this one seems rather minor.

Saw this yesterday, and thought it wasn't good at all. Aside from Garfield and Stone being good together, the less of the film had little to get excited about. It was completely all over the place, and after I saw who wrote it, I understood why.

No kidding. Almost all of the scenes that aren't action in the trailers are gone or flows differently in the movie.

They started filming with Mary Jane in this also, right? Wonder how she would have originally played into this.

I expected there to be a scene of Harry and Norman talking about Peter being Spider-Man from the "not everyone has a happy ending" line from Norman that was cut. That's Norman saying "We have plans for you, Peter Parker" in the last trailer too, I think?

Just watching the trailers again, they are fucking packed with cut stuff. More than I remembered. Like, none of Peter's voice over stuff from any of the trailers made it into the movie. Maybe it was all just done for the trailers, but seems kind of weird.

This wasn't in there either, was it:

So anybody questioning why they didn't have Emma Stone the natural redhead be MJ? I mean who is going to play her now?

Wait they are actually making just a sinister six movie starring Harry?

That sounds great.

sorry, i didn't mean to say it makes the movie better, but it's reasonable that after seeing gwen too attached to spidey, the relationship of peter and spiderman, the explanation about his love-story situation and the cut material about oscorp going after pete... I think it makes sense that he realized it.
