True. I even thought the brief scene in the elevator between Dane and Emma might lead to something as they also seemed to have chemistry.

haha I didn't get that, but I also didn't get the sexual tension between Peter and Harry others mentioned.

It's unfair to Andrew Garfield to say Emma Stone is the sole reason why there's chemistry between the two. He did good playing off the other actors as well.

I never doubted she would die. Back when Emma Stone was cast in the first film, she explained that Gwen dying was a big reason she wanted to play the character.

If there was any doubt, it was her contract for three films.

Get ready for Ghost Gwen in The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

I'm still saying that anybody has chemistry with Emma Stone. She radiates chemistry and could share a scene with Hayden Christensen and have people say the same thing.

I think you're discrediting Garfield too much, while the scenes of him moping over his uninteresting parents, and listening to terrible music are a bit much. I think he deserves credit for the Peter and Gwen scenes too. I agree that Emma can carry a shit actor in these sort of scenes, but Garfield isn't a shit actor and adds something to the scenes. I got a good sense of charisma in the scenes where he interacted with Stone while donning the Spidey suit.

If there was any doubt, it was her contract for three films.

Get ready for Ghost Gwen in The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

Ghost Uncle Ben continues to be MIA.

I'm shocked I didn't really like it. I thought I would love it. In some respects it's better than the first, but in others it's worse.

They NAILED the character of Spider-Man, it was so fun watching him do his thing.
The movie was disappointing though. I went in like "Man, a 56%? Harsh stuff." But I totally get why. Every character but Peter and Gwen were either under-used, over-used, or just missed the mark entirely. The plot was shaky, a lot of great scenes were too short and a lot of boring scenes were too long, and the pacing felt all sorts of wrong.
Wanted to like it, I love Spider-Man with all my heart.

Also the slow-mo was EXCESSIVE, and I'm normally forgiving of that

Just got back. It was alright, about par with the first one.

Andrew and Emma continue to have insane chemistry, and their scenes were definitely the best part of the film. Hans's score was pretty boss too. Everything else was underbaked.

And the "end credit scene" was pitiful.

idk if its the makeup but peter's face looked really tobey megureish in the apartment after gwen's death.

And its surprising that they were all using vaio laptops instead of well... xperia tablets. Who uses keyboards in movies anymore??

Just came back from watching the movie. Garfield is the best Spider-Man yet and his chemistry with Gwen is fantastic. I can't believe they actually had the guts to kill Gwen. I was actually shocked even though I had that possibility in the back of my mind while watching the movie. Her death scene was really well handled.

I don't understand the hate for the movie from some people.

Was a frustrating film I felt, the gwen/peter stuff seemed to go on too long, peter's constant moping, eye rolling depiction of max, etc.

Electro was good, didn't see the point of Rhino even being in the film, goblin was underused.

Everything that actually involved Spider-Man was pretty fun, but everything else made the movie overall kinda meh.

My biggest complaint is how the villains both just suddenly become psychopathic murderers. Yeah, okay, they both have legit reasons to be pissed, but just because someone's pissed doesn't mean they start MURDERING EVERYONE.

They're gonna have a hard time making Goblin into a protagonist come the Sinister Six movie.

I watched it again, and it sucks that they didn't bring back the Spidey theme from ASM. I actually liked that one.

saw it for the second time today. still think Gwen's death scene is done really well. I noticed this time how during the slow mo webshot trying to save Gwen, the web actually resembles a hand reaching out for her and it feels like an extension of Pete's emotions at that point. really well done

yeah that was one of the best scenes in the film.

also the scene where he fixes the kid's wind turbine and walks him home. true spiderman moment right there, loved how he was very approachable (reminded me of the elevator scene in spiderman 2 lmao)

fuck electro tho

So either Peter temporarily fixed the kid's turbine and it broke shortly after, or some poor fucks are going to have to spend a ridiculous amount of time cleaning up Peter's Gwen-killing message of love on the bridge.

Oh yeah I forgot to add that I liked Goblin's entrance after Spidey says he thinks that Gwen could still make her flight. Perfect moment to come in and fuck up things lol.

The way he was circling them and laughing was nice and played out well in the theater, the surround sound made it feel like he was circling the audience so I though it was a neat little touch. Spider-Man standing there confused, and Gwen's wtf look was nice as well.

It's a shame he was rushed out for the 3rd act, his one scene alone advanced the story more than like 70% of the film. Electro was never the main villain lol.

Also, holy crap Gwen's speech is so generic, and is about death.. wtf? No one wants to hear that shit upon graduating high school.

:lol.

If you think about it, the kid had a better version of the crane scene arc in this movie.

Man, we were so optimistic about this movie. I'm still disappointed

They should have given Electro the Rhino treatment, or had him as a plot device. Giving him that much screen time (as Max) took focus from Harry, which was the best part of the movie on the villain side. That made his transformation feel rushed, even though the movie is 2.5 hours. What a waste

They just need some good fucking writers lol, they have certain pieces already in place. Webb needs to learn how to keep a consistent tone throughout a film, and not lose focus on the story. He also needs to know when the fuck to say no to Jamie Foxx improv and licensed music (not sure if he would have a say in this seeing how it's Sony). At least he has Spider-Man action down, he understands how to get that right. If Orci/Kurtzman come back for TASM3 the next film will probably be more of a mess than this one. With them somehow, someway becoming directors, you'd think Sony would shop for better writers. They probably won't.

i'll repeat. The scene of "saving gwen" was too amazing. Many of us knew it was coming, yet after seeing movies going against canon you'd expect changes. And you see spidey saving her multiple times while fighting, and when the camera is panning like crazy as the web reaches.... SLAM!

To me it looked like the web caught up but there was a bit of elasticity which essentially was the difference between being saved and dying by heavy trauma.

I didn't know it was coming... I was shocked. The scene was very well done.

Orci and Kurtzman need to stop writing.

Good directors can overcome them, but Mark Webb isn't one of those.

Hell, Webb can't even keep a grasp on the tone of his blockbusters, going from comedy, to drama, to goofy, to high stakes-action, to unintentional comedy in quick succession on any given interval.

gwen's death was the best part. the way its framed you can't tell if she survived the fall or if her head smack the ground or whiplash or w/e.
Nah it obviously shows her head hitting the ground really hard.

i was shocked that they actually went through w/ killing gwen

i felt like they would chicken out of it but nah they made it pretty brutal
They kind of did chicken out in a way with all of the "No I can't let you come you might get hurt" "It's my choice stuff". Seeing as in the comics he doesn't care and is verbally patting himself on the back for being an awesome hero that saved her the entire time he's pulling her up. It's a valid story choice to change it but I'm not sure why they did it yet.

Also, holy crap Gwen's speech is so generic, and is about death.. wtf? No one wants to hear that shit upon graduating high school.
Gotta foreshadow that ending brah

Orci/Kurtzman go to ridiculous lengths to insult your intelligence in this film.
Isn't that every film they've written though? Hollywood needs a better pool of writers in general.

If Orci/Kurtzman come back for TASM3 the next film will probably be more of a mess than this one. With them somehow, someway becoming directors, you'd think Sony would shop for better writers. They probably won't.
They're writing ASM3 and Venom, Kurtzman is also directing Venom.

I like the first movie. This one, not so much. It was around two hours long but it felt much longer than that. I felt like there was too much going on at once. The action and special effects were pretty cool. Felt like there was a little too much focus on romance.

is spiderman in this universe the most OP hero of their film universe?

I don't feel like he's had any problem against any of the villains in the 2 movies. his spider sense might be a bit too overpowered, although i did like that saving the civilians from getting shocked in slowmo scene.

yeah that was one of the best scenes in the film.

fuck electro tho
yeah that windmill scene was probably the single best and purest "spidey" moment put on film imo.

was i the only one that was real confused about the battery testing scene? It didn't really make sense to me until the final fight prefight talk.

for some reason i thought he was trying to jump start his web thing lol.

Spidey beats the shit out of Superheroes that should whoop his ass because of his Spidey-Sense.

Am I the only one who absolutely loved this movie? :(

I really liked it. My favorite Spidey movie or at the least tied with SP2.

He was trying to develop a method to absorb charge without his webshooters blowing up. Hence the batteries.

Who the hell is running Sony Movies these days? Surely they know ASM1 and 2 have been a pale imitation of MCU. So they recognised the money spinning potential with Spidey license and yet they allow crap people to handle these movies? It is a matter of time one of the spin-offs becomes a box office bomb, people will eventually get tired of their careless directing.

Saw it today. Was really disappointed. Tonally, it was all over the place. Electro was pretty awful. What the hell was with the German doctor guy? It was like he stepped out of a different movie.

The actors are all fine, but they were given awful material to work with. Gwen's death happened just so it could happen. Gwen's death should be a defining moment for Spider-Man. In this, it's just a sad thing that happens that maybe he'll have to get over in the next movie. Which is too bad because it was a pretty well-shot, well structured scene. It just meant nothing. Especially since they basically absolved Peter of any lasting guilt with the "It's my choice" speech.

i didn't get why spiderman was getting pinballed around for the start of the electro fight at the powerplant, but then was able to dodge his attacks fine after gwen showed up.

Gotta foreshadow that ending brah

I know, but it was dumb in a pretty lame fashion. It was a meh speech, except the one line, "we have to be greater than what we suffer." That fits in Spider-Man well.

Yeah, but with these two in particular, you lower your chances significantly.

I have zero faith in the Venom film. I have no idea what Webb is gonna do now that Emma is gone lol. I don't want anymore of Peter sulking and listening to hipster music when he's angry or sad. Use Garfield for better things, and have more Spider-Man scenes. After this movie, Orci/Kurtz coming back is a tough pill to swallow. I can't shake the feeling that they'll find away to involve his parents in the 3rd one.

Anyway, I didn't hate this film, but am pretty mixed on it since there were parts I liked a lot. It's between a C and D- for me.

It should have ended with Gwen dying and Peter at the graveyard.

Have Rhino saved as the stinger or anyone else setting up the Sinister 6. Electro got the IM2 Whiplash treatment in this. Goblin should have been the main villain, it's almost Dafoe levels over the top acting.

It was ok but ASM1 was better.

I liked them displaying his tinkering abilities here. It was much better than the webshooter creation scene in TASM.

It was a really nice moment.

The "throw everything at a wall and see what sticks in viewers head" effect. For further examples, watch a upcoming Bay movie.

The narrative was so unfocused. On top of all this they decided to introduce all these new characters out of nowhere :-(

never read the comics or watched the shows much, but does spiderman ever get 'upgrades'? he has had 'side grades' but has he ever just got a 'power boost' that isn't some temporary thing with side effects?
