What could Microsoft show at E3 to finally get you to buy an Xbox One?

They'd have to make any and all multiplats exclusive and then buy Nintendo and make their games exclusive to Xbox One.

I am not interested in any of MS IP's of the last two gens, so the above isn't even hyperbole. It's literally the only thing MS could do to get me to buy an Xbox One.

New console that can do 1080p

A new Banjo game would probably get me to bite. Not one like nuts and bolts though, more like Kazooie or Tooie. That's probably all they could do right now.

I'm really not sure.. I have far too many options and a backlog of stuff to play with a PC, PS4, Wii U, iPad, Vita and 3DS. I'm out of HDMI ports on the back of my TV as is. Not feeling the pull to buy another pricey box that's mostly redundant to what I own and haven't been a fan of Microsofts direction and franchise stable since late-era 360.

Price drop, transforming Gold into a desirable service instead of its current role as internet toll, some compelling new IP that takes a few risks and a Viva Piñata revival would make for an E3 showing I'd certainly respect and enjoy, but I doubt I'd run out and buy one. Maybe more live game shows? Some old Sega properties? It would have to be a lot of small positive developments over a sustained period over any one show.

Edit: If they're able to solve the puzzle of piecemeal live/on demand TV channels that would certainly make me take notice as well, but it doesn't seem like that pipe dream is going to be wrestled away from the big networks and providers anytime soon.

Who doesn't want to buy an Xbox One: the thread.

Having looked at the thread title before you clicked, what did you think was going to be happening in here? What else could it be but a range of opinions from reasonable to outright crazy:

'Halo comes out after E3 and I'm buying one!'

'If Phil Spencer delivers it to my door at a discount, and gives me a foot massage, I'm in!'

If there's nothing compelling there, then so be it. I doubt there are that many people* who wouldn't buy one just because it's a Microsoft console, we all have our tipping points and that's usually (hopefully) games we want to play that we can't get anywhere else.

*Oh boy, three posts wrapped around mine within minutes. Maybe I've got it wrong.

I still don't want an Xbox One in my home, so nothing really.

Absolutely nothing. It's Wii U/PS4/PC for me this generation, I'm not going to spend money on a second subscription.

Nothing, nothing at all.

not even Dragons Dogma 2 exclusive.

They could get me interested in the system if they improve Gold, drop the price or give me a Kinect-less SKU and blow me away with awesome looking titles. Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break gameplay to start with. That rumored Platinum exclusive would go a long way as well. But yeah, really cool exclusives please.

I'll probably end up buying an X1 when there's a revision or a significant price-drop, I would say a kinectless SKU would also sweeten me but I just don't see that happening and from a business point of view it'd be rathe stupid of MS.

Software wise I'd probably settle for a lot of new IP's, MS obviously don't have the same level of nostalgia that PS and Ninty have with their old titles so they're going to need to build up that exclusive game library even more. I'm usually a sucker for Cyperpunk or space themed games so anything in that department that looked good would probably sell me. If the new Halo turns out to be good that will probably force my hand faster.

White, Kinectless SKU for a LOT lower price.

Rare making classic formula Banjo, Conker, Jet Force Gemini & non-sucky Perfect Dark; perhaps with the second, third and fourth with big multiplayer modes. Although, they may need to bring the old devs in for that...

So pretty much nothing practically possible!

This...

I'm no mind reader, but if i were to guess I would have thought something similar to this would havve happened.......................................

Aye, you're probably right. I was trying not to be too cynical.

But certainly, I don't think the 'Never! Not buying it because it's MS!' has any place in this thread, really.

don't think they can do anything as it's the weaker console and i don't want to deal with bad ports of games down the line. the ps4 being in the lead makes my decision easier as its going to have a larger pool of people to play with. although right now there's nothing i want on either console so i'll wait to buy one.

They need to drop the price by $200 (-$100 off price, add in TitanFall and 1 year of Live would be nice), keep the Kinect in there, and have at least 5 new exclusive games that interest me.

I'm guessing that I wont be getting a bone until after 2015 E3.

alot of japanese video games that don't sell very well, basically. a for real panzer dragoon that wasn't made for kinect. some damn sega games.

and a Rare platformer.

I would say a new proper Perfect Dark, and Crackdown 3 for starters. Still, I'm having issues with the low resolution games they're putting out for it. They would have to convince me past that as well.

I already have a couple Xbones. So, for me to pull the trigger on #3 I'd want a "slim" version sans Kinect at $299 price point. I think those 3 requirements also happen apply to a lot of other potential buyers who havent jumped in yet. Basically, ditch Kinect (which is useless and pretty much collects dust in my household anyway), drop the price, and give us a svelte case design that makes it more competitive with the PS4 in the looks department instead of a circa 1984 era VHS player. So, pretty much the version they should have on store shelves sometime in 2016-2017.

Edit: I should add I dropped XBL Gold a few months ago and because of how much better of a value PS+ truly is I havent felt compelled to re-up my subscription to MS's service. I think MS really needs to restructure XBL Gold and make it a better value and more competitive. This would not only bring back people like myself who have left, but also help sell new systems.

literally this

Go buy Forza 5.

not just forward rendered racing games / sports games or Tetris...that are much easier to accomplish

All games, in particular 3d First person and third person shooters, adventure games etc.

COD / BF / ACreed / Mass Effect, Borderlands / Next Skyrim or whatever...they should all be in 1080p in 2014. No excuse.

To me Ps4 is underpowered, should of had more grunt to do BF4 in 1080....

Xb1....

Oh, just show more games and cut the price by 50$.

In case, people interested in it will buy it (and even stop complaining about Kinect, once they try it and find out it is actually very nice also as a interface...).

Halo 2 Anniversary
Viva Pinata 3
A look at Project Nagano.
At this point H2A and Project Nagano are guaranteed to be shown eventually, so really it depends on Viva Pinata 3.

Someone did't read the thread title and OP very well.

Not really, they need to come up with some technology to make games play at full resolution.

Don't care what it is, but should be their focus. If they cant and ps4 is the multiplat console this gen, then its game over.

I have a console that does sub HD, its called a 360.

I have a couple Xbones and so far Kinect has been 100% useless in my household. Not one game out for it that is good. And the interface is easier to navigate using a controller than inaccurate gestures. Voice control is fine but you dont need kinect for that...it can be done with a mic.

Not really, OP clearly states Xbone, NOT a new system as that one poster was saying.

It's all about price and library. They need to amend the price first and foremost.

What I find here a lot is the strong emphasis on multiplat performance when last generation it did not stop people from buying inferior performance at all, especially when trophies came on the scene.

Considering every other game is 1080p on the PS4 EXCEPT Battlefield 4, I'm pretty sure that is just Dice not having enough time to fully optimize the port rather than the PS4's power being the problem

It's a complete myth that Xbox One 'can't do 1080p'. Xbox 360 did 1080p. It's just some developers prioritise fidelity over resolution. Next Wolfenstein is 1080p, by the way.

exclusive games which are NOT FUCKING MILITARY SHOOTERS/FPS.

oh and any good approach of using kinect.

still waiting for a similiar experience like child of eden.

I think this generation is going to increasingly target multi player online persistent worlds so that developers and publishers can live off subscriptions/DLC for years to come.

So it's difficult to see how these games will function without a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live subscription. I already have a PS4, so I don't think there's anyway I'll be persuaded to pay for XBone + Live.

After owning a 360 for the last generation, I've no confidence in Microsoft being able to deliver first party content that I'm interested in. I've already had my fill of Halo, Gears and nothing on the horizon looks interesting.

So unless they drop the Xbone to impulse buy levels and throw in a free Live subscription I'll be out of the Xbone eco system for this generation - and I'm fine with that.

Nothing. Finding my gaming time dwindling as well as my money, plus the fact that I already have a PS4 and it's not getting utilized very often, I see no need in buying the third Xbox console, One. Considering all the crap that went down and attempted to force down our throats as the future rather alienated me from the Xbox division as well.

Loads of people used the PS3 as an exclusive machine last gen bro

Also, the difference was usually way smaller than now

On topic:
I've got so much shit to play on my Vita & PS4, I wouldn't have time for the Xbone anyway. So unless some gigaton like Fallout 4 exclusive drops, I probably won't ever get one. Don't think that'll happen though.
