I feel the same way, and one of the biggest reasons I'm so excited for this game(even though we only seen a couple of blurry screens) is because it doesn't seems to be a direct sequel to Demon's Souls. Don't get me wrong, I love Demon's Souls but I don't want another Souls game that re-uses plot, characters, and setting wholesale from the first game and just ads a new coat of paint like Dark Souls 2 did.
I want Miyazaki to innovate and evolve the Souls formula, and more importantly create new and interesting lore for me to discover.

Am sure this was said by now somewhere in this clusterfuck of posts, but Id reckon this being a global release when announced. As in released at the same time. With how popular its in the West and with how Japan needs an exclusive like now, would make sense. Plus with how the games have been designed to already have english voices in there, its just a matter of having the localization teams doing up the text then the rest of the dev team doing what they do with the other part. Its not all that uncommon to have multiple language versions being worked on at the same time, so its not out of the question that its what Sony has in store with this title.
 
I really hope they show this at e3.

I'm a little behind in the thread, but is this mostly assumed to be a new Souls game? For me, the fog gate screenshot is kind of a dead giveaway.

Id say possibly would be more in a "related" universe than being an actual title in the series. But thats just me.

With how much western appeal this game has, I wouldn't be surprised to see this come out in the west first and the japanese version much later.

Yeah i think most people consider it more like a "spiritual succesor" than an actual Demon's Souls sequel.Which is perfectly fine IMO and gives them more room to implement fresh ideas.

I can agree with you on this one however, Dark Souls II's reuse of plot and assets without any true innovation has more to do with the team that made the game. Some are calling them the "B" team. That said, I loved the lore and overall vibe of Demon's Souls. I can only imagine the beauty that the original creators would formulate with a direct sequel.
 
I hope everyone at the train will be watching the E3 so I can sneak in under it, probably the only place with a spot left....

Wouldnt make sense to do that considering that they need something now over here in Japan. That and if they started development at the same time its more than possible to pull it off no problem. Seeing how Sony has become a lot more serious about localization and such, Id imagine their budget for undertaking such projects exists now therefore doing a global release would be in the plans.
 
Yeah a lot of views for this thread.
Sony e3 show suddenly got a lot more people that will be there to see if this is a real game.
And a kind of people that can be for the most part described as hc gamer, the one that buys a lot of games and systems.

And all that with a couple of super compressed screens.
 
I just watched Vaati's video on the subject, and he brought up the idea of guns and explosives replacing heavy armor and shields as the main left hand weapon.
To me that sounds amazing, it could be a more offensive Souls game with swordplay intermixed with crowd clearing shotgun blasts and smoke bombs and caltrops as defensive measures.

STOP JUST STOP my hype cant go any higher. Ive read through almost all this thread and wow what a ride. Demon's Souls, Beast's Souls, Miyazaki lead new IP. INTO MY VEINS.

Guys, E3 is coming.

I'm not a big Souls guy, but in 2010 I've professed my on this forum for the Witch Hunter class and you actually got me interested. This is such a badass style:

Always wanted to get into the souls games to play with my son, but reading about the way you party up really put me off.

Always wanted a 2 Player game like souls or skyrim (ESO does not really count)....dragon age...god anything that is 2 player ...

Maybe now theres a STAT that defines your ability to use firearms.

OMG my thread got a shoutout :D
Though Sal Paradise deserves all the credit.

Some very interesting stuff he says. Particularly in how Soul arts may not be around in such a universe hence the reliance on guns.

Oh and I'm glad ENB and Vaati both agree that Demons Souls has the best atmosphere than any other Souls game. Entirely agree, especially how it mixes horror and this sense of despair.

Now that I think of it this game already looks to be more horrific Souls game. There is a very clear Castlevania vibe coming from it and a Souls game with more emphasis on horror....oh boy cannot contain the hype.

Most dragon in gaming seem to land right next to you and start smacking you like a normal monster. Not Kalameet, first he just nukes you from the sky, giving zero fucks. Only after a sidequest you can force him to land and then he will still wreck your shit like the ant you are.

I wish there where more dragons in gaming like Kalameet.

You should play Dragon's Dogma then, that dragon fight is quite epic.
