Aesop Rock laying down the law.

Was happy to see him being the undisputed winner. Aswell as just seeing him on there.

Well deserved Bazooka Tooth.

Random Aesop quotes for those who are wondering.

Inorganic pat on back. trim the panic flat on backer. Back to back like Mad Hatter magic rabid mastiff collaborative splatter bachelor fabric fatter with Cabbage Patch lit.

Wanna be a fighter pilot driving that childish early Wright brothers experiment prototypic model fossil. Sittin', sweatin' bullets on a console busting accidental dirt bike donuts outside the most ridiculous poison-tongue-brain-silo.

Saw this the other day, might need to check out that Aesop Rock guy. Not surprised to see Wu Tang near the top

Number 3, Kool Keith, I have only heard once and it was on a drewtoothpaste song lol. "Crab Hand" lmao

Now he should do one with punk bands.

Someone should do one that compares there education to these results.

I mean the Insane Clown Posse dropped out of high school in year 9!
Sorting by region sort of does that; it ends up exactly as expected with East Coast being on top and South coming in last.

I'm a little sad that they only list The Clipse in there and not Pusha T by himself.
I'm a rap snot and I think he has some pretty awesome lyrics, and though his verses tend to recycle some of the same themes of selling dope and, being dope, he talks about some fairly high minded shit and I think of him as a lyrical class act. His verses tend to be pretty packed. Maybe his slow delivery doesn't lend itself for fitting a lot of varying words...

"Givinchy motorcycle leather...
Mad Max, 5 stacks, for a look this weathered
Small circle bad bitches all think they clever
The mixed ones whole shape and recycle better

Sit them on a curb when I'm done with 'em
She oblivious her girl wanna come with 'em
Can't blame her; other ni**as can't run with 'em
Usain Bolt through these b*t*hes then I'm done with 'em"

But I love the idea of analysis like this.

Odd that Atmosphere ain't on there.

This is a cool ass experiment that hopefully gets more people into Aesop Rock.

French rappers blow all of them out of the water.

While I'm quite a fan of French rap, and while I also don't know enough French... it seems like rapping in French would be way easier, what with like half of the words ending in -e (and an accent on it, to boot). Just kidding :P

But yeah, some of the French rap out there is quite nice :)

Haven't seen it yet, but yeah, I generally think that the whole "street poet" stuff is a bit overstated in regard to 2pac.
Not sure why people even go that way, 2pac was a fucking awesome rapper and he wrote great hip-hop lyrics, but they don't really work as poems, and I don't know, claiming that always struck as somehow suggesting that poetry is somehow a superior art-form.
I personally think such ranking of art forms is silly, but if one must, hip hop has a much much much MUCH higher batting average than poetry.

What does "batting average" mean here?
