its a good time too after toei built new suits of the oldies with gokaiger, and i think there is a new dino megazord suit made for some of the movies...

but im expecting cg.

i do hope that canned MMPR2 megazord makes its way back.

Meh, they had more than enough screentime, and are among the least interesting characters in the series.

I say let another better team take the spotlight.

Not gonna happen. We're going to ride this nostalgia train until it breaks down and blows up. Then we'll switch to the imagination train.

odds of it going through production hell?

and im betting they ditching spandex.

Everyone like iron man right?

power armor rangers

They never use spandex for the first MMPR movie either. In fact Toei/Sentai should learn from the first movie to use PVC suits instead of spandex.

Hell I don't mind they reuse these PVC suits again.

Aren't quote a few past cast members show up at conventions?

There's more than a few actors that don't mind being associated with the show. I know JYB and the actress that played Aisha has no problems with attending conventions and interacting with fans.

I just learned Seal dates TimeForce Pink. Damn

Power Rangers is one of those kids shows that I was juuuust about too old to watch when it first came out.

That being said, if they were able to make an actual film out of the concept, and have it not just be some kiddy crap mean just for little kids(like the original Power Rangers movie was), I'd be down for it.

With modern blockbusters so obsessed with destiny, I wonder how they'll twist the MMPR story so that the rangers were always meant to become heroes instead of Zordon randomly picking the first five decent teenagers Alpha found.

Is this going to be a gritty Nolan-esque reboot?

I would be so down for it if it was. It doesn't have to be Power Rangers, but I'd love it if someone in the West tried to make a super serious gritty super sentai movie.

That said, a Power Rangers reboot shouldn't be Nolan-serious. But it could definitely be cheesed down a bunch and still be fun. Like a Marvel movie level of tone would be perfect.

I was just thinking about this the other day. I accidentally stumbled upon this fan film and thought it was real then got sad that no one seemed to care enough to reboot the franchise for real.

Coming from someone who hates most things Michael Bay, I have to say that this reboot would be perfect for him. There's no story whatsoever to screw up. Just hot teenagers fighting aliens in giant robots.

Considering that the PVC suits couldn't last longer than a couple of scenes at best (and that was when they filmed that movie), Those suits probably won't make the journey from the warehouse to the studios.

They would be better off either going the Go-Busters route and use a leather version of the MMPR suits, or having Toei make the suits themselves, whether they would be Metal Heroes/Heisei Kamen Rider-esque or something closer to the Kikaider reboot.

Nolanesque? That would miss the super sentai point so hard

I've always wanted to like Power Rangers, but the budget of this show is laughably bad. Like its on purpose its this way.

Dark and gritty movie set in the original Power Rangers universe.

Hardcore white ranger slice'n'dice please.

I have always wondered when Hollywood would start mining Japanese IP for new superhero movies. There's a lot of potential in concepts like Kamen Rider, Casshern, and the like.

I love it when properties from my childhood are revistited, especialy when they're stylistically very far apart from the original.

Gatchaman next, please!

I'm cool with JDF still clinging to his MMPR fame. At least he's aware of the fact that he's a one-hit wonder.

I like that he's embraced all the green ranger stuff but looking over his Instagram is kind of pathetic. Dude is asking people to PayPal him $50 for a piece of green ranger spandex, $50 for autographs, $25 for green ranger beanies and shit...

Saw this there though, very awesome:

Someone needs to give justice to Kamen Rider
Though, after the last attempt financially bombed... I can see why they don't.

Its just wrong that we are gonna get a MMPR reboot before that awesome Voltron script that has been kicking around Hollywood for six years gets made.

Targeted audience: passive aggressive 12 year old males

Real audience: Kids of the 90s now older & a lot more bitter.

Please, please let the leader/red have more personality than Plank from Ed, Edd, n Eddy.

lulz. So much this, but not really bitter. Would deff see it for nostalgic reasons if based off of MMPR

I want Genndy Tartakovsky doing the action, maybe Del Toro directing. Genndy is fantastic with action and has Sentai cred with Dexters Lab and SymnBionic Titan; and did great live action fights for the ending to Iron Man 2. And Del Toro did Pacific Rim and is an expert in Sentai-like monsters with Pan's Labyrinth.

I've actually had an idea for a Power Rangers reboot in my head for a while...

It would start with MMPR, but instead of calling them "Mighty Morphin", they'll be "Dino Warriors" or something. Because it'd establish early that they're NOT the first Power Rangers, and we'd get even get appearances from the last team, the Flight Force (Jetman). They would be tasked with fighting Rita's monsters and all that, fighting the Green Ranger, and eventually defeating Rita and her son (this was actually the original plan before the show got popular).
Afterwards, the very first Red Ranger (from Goranger, new name still TBD) will congratulate them and give them new assignments around the world. Hence they'll be out of the way for the next team, the Star Force (Dairanger)
