- EW: ABC renews 'SHIELD' plus orders 'Captain America' spin-off
ABC is doubling down on Marvel TV shows.

First, Agents of SHIELD is returning for a second season. That move was pretty widely expected, despite the show’s somewhat modest ratings performance.

Plus, ABC has also greenlit to series its Captain America spin-off Agent Carter (or, as the studio insists it’s titled, Marvel’s Agent Carter).

Official description of the new series from ABC: “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” starring “Captain America’s” Hayley Atwell follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” along with the short “Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.” “Marvel’s Agent Carter” stars Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter. Executive producers are Michele Fazekas & Tara Butters, Steve McFeely & Christopher Marcus, and Jeph Loeb.

Grate news :)

I wonder how connected the series will be.
And I wonder how they will handle Howard Stark's character.

Now I actually have to hope that ABC cancels Trophy Wife, so we can get Bradley Whitford back for Agent Carter.

Sweet, glad she's getting a big role, as I feel she was cut short (for story reasons) in the marvel story.

They bring up Howard Stark, think they'll bring back Dominic Cooper?

BASED MAHVEL

Next year DC is going to have:

Arrow
The Flash
iZombie
Constantine
Gotham

Marvel's gotta keep up.

Arrow and The Flash should be solid. No idea about iZombie and Constantine. Gotham looks awful.

Marvel's properties are a complete question but at the least AoS and Agent Carter will connect to the MCU. The other series all being on Netflix means they have a better chance at more than one series as well.

IGN seems to think Cooper will be a part of it.

I'm glad it's finally confirmed - both Shield renewal and Carter getting a series order.

Are Arrow and Flash the only ones sharing a world?

I believe so. Arrow, Flash and iZombie are on CW, Constantine on NBC, and Gotham on Fox- it would probably be difficult to coordinate crossovers across networks.

The four "Defenders" shows on Netflix will all be MCU, as well.

The Netflix shows are in the MCU.

So everyone is expecting the Defenders in Avengers 3 right? But what about the Agents of Shield? Do you guys think they will be thrown a bone or will the show be long since dead and forgotten but the time Infinity Gauntlet comes out?

Probably they're going to throw the kitchen sink at Thanos.

I'm not expecting the Defenders or the Agents of SHIELD (aside from Coulson and perhaps a cameo of one of the team) in Avengers 2 or 3.

If they actually do Infinity Gauntlet I absolutely expect them (and all other characters built up to that point) in the film, even they are brief appearances.

I can totally see them showing up in Avengers 3, and very likely will
Thanos needs a high body count

I'm keeping my expectations low due to the fact there are so many variables, many of which rely on how well the shows are made.

But you're right, if they want to show how bloodthirsty Thanos is, there's not exactly a bunch of X-Men and a Spider-Man to slaughter.

Oh goodness.

I can't be getting hyped for Avengers 3 when Avengers 2 is still a year away.

That would require Avengers 3 to be split into 2-parts, which is something I hope they would do.

It would be cool if they have a major death from each of teams (Defenders, Agents, and Avengers) and show how each group copes with it afterwards. Avengers is most likely going to be
Captain America
, Agents could be like Deathlok, and Defenders could be Daredevil (?).

I think they'll do this in 2019. Part 1 in May 2019 and Part 2 in November 2019.

No one would care if Deathlok died.

I keep trying to care for him in the show, especially with his son as a motivator, but the suit just keeps pulling me out.

Well, they will hopefully have a few years to change that. I wouldn't be surprised if the suit gets a redesign next season.

LTTP on the last episode but yoooooooo! I really thought they were gonna pull a Whedon and ice Fitz and Simmons at the same time for a sec there. Had me yelling "NO!" in my head lol. That would have been brutal.

If they do it properly, the Infinity Gauntlet will be Thanos vs literally every single character ever established, across all properties. Even some villains if they're those that would play ball temporarily against a greater enemy.
