Sony's E3 2014 - What are we all expecting?

If TLG is there then I think it'll trump Uncharted for the last reveal. I could see them stacking both at the end. Uncharted first and TLG last. They did that in 08 with GoW3 and MAG.

TLG as the final game would only work if they don't want to close with a live demo since Ueda's games don't exactly translate well to stage demos. The past few years have had some excellent ending demos. Destiny, TLoU, GoWIII, etc.

A cold open right into Destiny after the opening video might be cool if the demo is interesting and different enough. Sort of like how MS went straight into MGSV last year.

They need to show something fresh about that game though. Something a bit more showy and epic. The recent demo was kind of dull.

If there is a demo, I'd expect it to be the boss fight from that strike.

Any chance of seeing Lily Bergamo?

Hmm...there's a chance. The game is still scheduled for 2014, but they said they'll share more details at TGS this year. I don't think that means "no more details until TGS" though.

Is it common for a game in Japan to release in 2-3 months after the first gameplay footage?
--

I'm looking forward to the Guilty Gear Xrd US release date (devs confirmed to be at E3 this year!) and Lily Bergamo (if it's there. Love the concept, artstyle, and genre).

Kind of like how they did the TLOU demo?

Exactly! I know it's a multiplayer game so obviously banter is expected, but at least make it seem natural like in The Division demo. That just seemed unscripted like a bunch of friends playing together, even though i'm sure it was scripted as it was lacking profanity. :P

Right, i'm just talking about if they don't do a live demo to close the show. MAG and GoW3 closed the 08 show in trailer form.

someone asked waaay earlier in the thread why I'd listed WWE 2K15 as possibly taking-place at Sony's E3. It was just me putting some things together:

- 2K's first game where the game isn't mostly already finished by THQ when they aqquired it. Visual Concepts (sp?) are also doing the graphics, such as face scanning for in-game superstars and divas.
- Have heard it is on PS4/XB1, so it's the entrance into 'next' gen.
- PS4 is the lead console now thanks to it's more memory and easier to use architecture. Previously YUKES/THQ used HD-DVD on 360 and ported accross to BluRay/PS3.
- TakeTwo/2K don't host their own press conference.
- I assume 2K will already be at Sony's E3 in some form, for Borderlands 2 on VITA.

If that game is still coming this year I think we get at least a release date trailer

But has it even been confirmed for an International release? It seems like a Fall/Holiday Japan title.

Hopefully they learned from last year. Though a lot of companies still manage to make it cheesy...

I'm pretty much expecting the Sony PC to rock. They've communicating been very well with gamers ever since the PS4 was announced, so they MUST know that we are expecting a lot. A seeing how well the PS4 has been doing with that approach I can't see them showing any boring wonderbook demos. So I fully expect the PS to be fully packed with game live demos (TLOU PS4, The Order, Uncharted 4) and new announcements (Project Beast).

I seem to recall a longstanding relationship between Sony and 2k and yet I think anything further back than 2k14 NBA last year.

And HD DVD was never used for 360 games.

If project beast is in fact demons souls 2 they need to end with that, the souls series is much bigger than last guardian could ever dream of being these days. And assuming its exclusive, that's a huge get

Sony's going to clean up.

And The Order is going to be so bad ass.

It does look badass, but then I keep having to remind myself that I read something about it being filled with quick time events. I really hope I can stomach those in order to experience what looks to be a rich universe.

Don't know if anyone here follows Tidux on twitter but he's been posting some interesting things on there today.

He says that the Uncharted 3 minute demo is real, as is the order getting a stage demo and also a couple of other things mentioned in the E3 'leak'. He then got called out by Famous Mortimer for only tweeting about 'safe' bets.

He then said that Titanfall will be going multi platform and that a build is up and running. Then followed that with a "happy @atpetedodd".

Not sure what to make of it all really, but he was right about some of the 1.70 update etc.

I don't know many console execs/game devs/gaf members by name, who(m?) is Tidux?

I am very exited to see The Order again

Graphically that looks amazing.
Waiting for E3 for the gameplay!

"Hey I'm Shawn Layden and I am the ne...."

*Ceiling breaks, Jack comes falling down giving Layden a double leg kick off the stage

Jack
"I'm back bitches!".... *Que BOSS music

I would perfer such a scenario but with Kevin Buttler. Still can't get over how he managed to pitch casual PS Move games and stirr tremendous gamer pride in the same speech.

Last year MS opened they pressconf with 5 min trailer of Phantom Pain. Hopefully this year Sony will do something similar [maybe with AC Unity].

Oh I had no idea. But have any titles been announced? One could assume those games were already coming to PS4 anyway.

Well those were the franchises that were announced. Tales will make its way in a couple of years since the new one is on PS3. Japanese third parties, especially the ones that don't have massive western blockbusters are going to take their time it seems before making the jump.

I think that there's a real possibility that Zestiria could have a PS4 version by the time it reaches the states. It probably won't be released here until mid next year, and last gen has already slowed down considerably in the west. It's really in NAMCO's best interest to release it on the PS4 to continue the growth of the series. And I doubt anyone would expect them to do much other than render it at 1080p/60fps.

I hope Persona 5 will have a PS4 port.

My hope is that third party and indie (no offense) get allocated like 20-30 mins max of the show. Focus the rest on WWS games that push the hardware. Show us Uncharted, Order, GG, MM and Bend's new game. Show us the Japanese games and publishers you've partnered with Sony. They really dropped the ball last year in terms of first party announcements last year. MS was quick firing game after game after game. That was awesome until price was announced.

I am fearing a boring conference like this happens:

PS3 talk: "In its 9th year, the PS3 lineup is as strong as ever with games this year like COD/BF blahblahblah"
PSVita talk: "Vita has hundreds of games to play and will feature more indie games and collections"
PS4 games: "Order 1886 demo, Batman exclusive stuff, GTA5PS4 (will launch on PC/X1 same day), Uncharted 4, DriveClub, Infamous DLC, AC5 demo, indie presentation, Destiny Demo, FF15 trailer"
VR demo: "Driveclub, something from MM and SCE Japan"
Services:"PSPLUS games for July, PSNow is tied to PSPLUS and more on price and NA rollout"

Yeah i can see both Zestiria and P5 getting a ps4 version. I mean, they could keep it this way because fans of the sagas would still buy the games on ps3, but if they want to expand their fanbase they can't count on last-gen only in 2015, when a lot of people will already be on next-gen.
At least i hope so lol

What iz diz crazy talkz?
3rd party games help sell systems
and Sony has 3 events ahead to spread their announcements

If anything they need to cut time from vita talk
Betta yet pretend it doesn't exist

we'd better see uncharted PS4 as there's been a lot of speculation about how that project is going as employees have been leaving ND

kingdom hearts 3 info and/or gameplay

hoping (not likely) for Dead Space 4 (returning to it's roots) on next gen that'd look really good.

Read Dead Redemption 2 (about time)

Demons Souls 2

new next gen god of war

new sly cooper

If it makes for a better PS4 showing, go for it. There reason why I say cut back on third party because unless trailers, they take way too much time and they are almost nothing mind-blowing. Especially for Ubi and EA games that are demo-ed in their own conferences

On the other hand, Gabe announcement back in 2010 was freaking epic. More of third party like that.

I expect The Order, TLoUPS4 and possibly Deep Down.
Hope for Project Beast too.
I' ll be excited with just that, everything else will be a pleasant bonus.

They said they tried that and it didn't work.

I think what he means is that if time is gonna be taken-up at the Sony Press Conference by 3rd party stuff, it'd be nice if they were at least exclusive 3rd party games. From going from FF15/KH3 Hype to 'oh, they will also be on XB1, huh?' after E3 was massively annoying. Especially since I believe there was a Sony exclusitivity on VersesXVIII, but the name change to XV works around that to make it a multiplatform title.

I wonder if Until Dawn will reemerge this E3, presumably with Morpheus support. Or maybe that'll be saved for a later date.

Wish list. (All for ps4)

-Ape Escape 4 (would make my e3)
-Syphon Filter
-Wipeout
-Wild Arms
-Uncharted 4
-Timesplitters 4
-Tenchu
-Street Fighter 5
-MAIN R&C, none of this spinoff bullshit.
-New IPs from First Party studios (Guerrilla etc..)
-Dragon quest XI
-Deus Ex
-Condemned 3
-Bloody Roar
-Alpha Protocol 2
-Yakuza 5 localisation (ps3)

I know the chances of even a quarter of the games in the list is slim, but I would love if any of these happened.

Uncharted is a given but would love any of the rest to be shown.

Uh what exclusive 3rd party games?
I'd love to be there to see ppl's faces when Omega Quintet gets a live demo

Oh I agree they could use some more entertaining live demo
but it applies to some of the first party stuff also

Agent, Crash Bandicoot, Dark Souls 2, GTA5 PS4, Shenmue 3, Syphon Filter PS4, The Last Guardian, Wip3Out PS4, WWE 2K15 possibly next gen exclusive... All rumors I've heard thrown around at least a little for Sony's 2014 E3.

And then there's the usual 3rd party stuff like AssCreed, Batman Arkham Knight, Battlefield, COD, Destiny, KH3/FF15, Madden, The Division, WatchDogs

Wow dat wishfull thinking

It's been quite a while since we've last heard of major project updates from the following studios that we've heard rumblings of them being involved in Sony first-party games:

- Tarsier
- Sumo Digital
- Giant Sparrow
- Supermassive Games
- Zindangi Games

In regards to Sony-first party:

Sony San Diego's Modnation team seems to have been brewing something since Road Trip, that's rumoured to be F2P based off job listings looking for people with F2P experience. It's been 2 years since then, I think it'd be a good time to unveil their next project.

Guerilla Game's new IP is going to hit 3 years of development soon. Given that new IP ideally needs longer lead-time from announcement to release, sometime this year, even for a simple unveiling seems realistic.

Sucker Punch had previously mentioned their SS DLC would be in the veins of 'Festival of Blood.' I can see that being its own unveiling as well.

Who the hell knows with Media Molecule. I do hope Rex Crowle gets to continue making games though, Tearaway was awesome.

I wish we could get a clearer picture of the cycle of Sony's first-party teams soon. SSM and Quantic Dream, for one, is unlikely to make an announcement given that they released a game just last year. ND and GG are special cases of having 2 teams with titles being cooked in the pipeline for a while, but even then we still don't know how they'll manage their schedules team-to-team. Will Steven der Heide/Neil's Druckmanns'ss next game come in 4 years time, or 3 years?

Realistically, the next cycle of announcements should be Bend, London, Media Molecule and Guerilla. I definitely hope that's the case.
