The English dub was fun and silly and was easy to watch.

The Japanese one takes itself way too seriously and the music is horrid. Be careful what you wish for...

Are they ditching the English names too??
The English dub also butchered the hell out of many plotlines and "sanitized" the show to the point of ridiculousness. It was also extremely uneven. And as someone who's seen every episode in Japanese, it's still plenty silly.

And yes, the Japanese names are gonna be used.

He's actually not alone. I have a giant box of Sailor Moon and Precure merch that I keep hidden under the bed. I'll probably never display any of it. lol

I actually went to Prom as Tuxedo Kamen.

Sometimes I go to class as him randomly.

I don't think I'd ever complete the full set, but I'd be down for the first couple seasons.

I also liked the English dub when I was a kid. I doubt it holds up.

It was a different time back prime time cartoons in the 90s couldn't show what we have today.

I dunno I remembered the big war back in the day but if you watch the dub for what it is and teenage girls fighting giant lipsticks don't take the show so serious

Japanese music horrid the dub music matched the tone IMO and the names were not butchered adaptions everyone pretty much got closish american names

My waifu isn't happy about the money being earmarked for these after I've purchased all of the Figuarts series too.

She'll live.

I'm going to buy this, and put it on a large, flashy pedestal with neon signs pointing to its magnificent glory.

I'll probably put the Jem and the Holograms DVDs next to it, too. Hah.

Female-lead animated shows are the best!

One of the first times I had sex (I promise I'm not lying!) was to a Jem VHS tape playing in the background. I may have even gotten that sex for saying I watched Jem as a child and enjoyed it, prior to the act (maybe LiK was right about Sailor Moon..)

I was a huge fan of the English dub when it first premiered too, but as soon as I learned just how much they altered, I can't even watch it anymore. And the dub quality varied wildly from season to season, which also was quite off-putting.

And I never had a problem with the music.

I don't know if many people are aware of just how much was changed between the versions. The amount is quite staggering. (Not to mention, the original dub out-and-out removed a bunch of episodes too.)

I hope they don't call Tuxedo Mask Tuxedo Kamen in the English dub. That's a keikaku level of localization.

Ok I'm willing to accept everything else i liked about the dub being altered for the more accurate translation.

But for fucks sake, keep Tuxedo Mask's name Tuxedo Mask please. Please

The English dub had a ton of problems, but Luna in my head will always be grandmotherly. RIP in Peace, memories of freshman year marathons.

I have that light-up rotating case from Saints Row IV. When Viz finally gets to releasing Stars, I will probably actually store one of the sets in there because that'll be a major event.

I think it was just dumb how sometimes within the same season, attack/object names would be different and inconsistent.

I think the interview refers to him as "Tuxedo Mask" so we should be good with that. I hope they don't try to pull some weird translation for the Ginzuishou and just call it the Silver Crystal. None of this illusionary/whatever stuff.

Obviously, I think the most pressing localization issue of them all is how they're going to handle
Star Gentle Uterus
in Stars.

Girls love men that love girly cartoons. It's the truth.

Hehe. Awesome. I wish I had one of those, but I got the regular version of Saints Row IV. :(

Nice avatar, by the way! Jem's the shit!

Going to miss some of the English songs, mostly just the song of the other sailor scouts transforming/powers and Tuxedo Mask's theme.

So good and brings be back the 90s (...and preschool). Though the original Japanese BGM for transformations can't be beat. Sailor Meeeerrrrcuuuuurrry Sailor Mars Sailor Mars~

They'll just use the same name. I don't think they'll really mess with attack names.

If I remember correctly, there were two English dubs. The 2nd one was Serena basically yodeling every spoken piece of dialogue. It was...tolerable when I was younger, don't know if I can stomach it now.

Oh god, didn't that thing have like five different names over the course of a single episode in the dub? I seem to recall Sailor Moon Abridged making a joke about that.

Bleach and Naruto are Viz shows that are on Toonami.

Speaking of Bleach and Naruto, isn't it kind of nuts that Viz hasn't tried to capitalize on the popularity of those two series with a Blu Ray release yet? I'd love to own Bleach up to the end of the Soul Society Arc on Blu Ray.

I would much rather buy them in sets than a bunch of fragmented DVD releases. Would even be willing to pay like $35-40/season.

It was the Emperium/Imperium Silver Crystal for a while but then they dropped it around R.

I think when translated from Japanese, a lot of different groups had different names for it due to the 'maboroshi no' that came before it normally. I hope they don't use the illusionary thing in the dub :/

The English dub Sailor Moon music was much more fitting to its series than Bruce Falconer's music was to Dragon Ball Z.

Sufferers of stockholm syndrome, this is your opportunity to recover! 20 years of pain is finally over!
I have the season sets and several of the ones from Pioneer/Geneon and I still love the 90s dub. Recently my brother got a bootleg set of those and we've been enjoying the memories.

Still, I'm bummed Viz got this as I'd rather Funi have it, especially in regards to the dub and price. The great news though is Animaze can't charge us out of house and home.
