I think The Last Guardian was already released. The trailers we saw? That was it. Its all about directly interacting with the audience. Instead of the boy dying or the griffin dying, we die, of old age, still waiting for a game that will never come. Thus creating art.

Maybe it's a good thing it's never coming out.. We won't have to feel the heartbreak of seeing EagleDogThing die. :(

Is that worse than the heartbreak of this never releasing? I don't know.. I DON'T KNOW.

after doing extensive research, looking at interviews that have any hint of TLG, updates and status reports, studio japan news in general, insider/leaker patterns...i believe we won't see the last guardian this year.

But it is still alive.

Why do people keep saying that either the monster or the boy must die ? In neither of Fumito Ueda's games has a good character died, only characters that did "die" are the Queen and Dormin (if you consider Dormin to be alive in the first place)

You were wrong, 16 Colossus dead.

Well, that's a way of seeing things.

Wanda was reborn, yeah, but he basically died, I'd say. Now, in Ico I believe Ueda said Yorda dies and the beach part is a dream, but he backed away and said you can interpret either way.

He was cured of the cursed and re-born. That is a good thing. He was basically resurrected, which is always a good thing.

The tone of both games is hope and happiness, hell, even the last song that plays in Shadow of the Colossus is called "In the Land of Happiness".

You should probably play ICO and Shadow of the Colossus first, then you will realize that something like that can never happen.
I have played them, and I don't see how that would exempt Last Guardian from ending like that. Unless of course you happen to be Fumito Ueda and can tell me with absolute certainty that your games will never end with a character's death.

He did everything for the girl and didn't get her back, so that's bad in my view.

He did all of those crazy things to revive his lover so he could be with her. In the end, yes he's reborn but I doubt Momo knows thats Wander, and I doubt Wander's wish was ever fulfilled.

In ICO, well lets just say the happy ending is meant to be a dream ;__;

Both games have bittersweet to sad endings.

She got revived and has probably no idea that Wander did it and that is fine, no problem there, she doesn't have to know through how much pain he wen't to save her.
Wander was told by Dormin that the price will be big so it was pretty obvious to him that he will not survive this whole thing, lucky for him, he did survive and was reborn as a bonus.

And ICO's ending being a dream is kind of dumb, why would it be a dream ? Dead people don't dream. The way I see it, he was knocked out by the blast from the Queen and woke up later. Yorda was freed from her prison when the Queen died and the castle collapsed and ended up on that shore.

All in all, super happy endings.

It doesn't fit the tone of his games at all.

Your the first person I've seen to refer to those endings as super happy endings lol.
If thats your interpretation cool but pretty much everyone else perceives them to be at bets bittersweet endings.

Everyone I ever showed the game to agreed with me, I really don't get where all this negative attitude comes from.

I felt SoTC ending was kind of bittersweet? Not entirely sad or happy, but something in between - often like life itself

I suspect we are being trolled here. In the and of the Last Guardian the griffon or the boy (or both fused together) will become Dormin and he will say "that's a happy ending because both didn't die".

I will always believe in The Last Guardian.

It's where my user name came from anyway. (The Last Guardian + Shadow of the Colossus = Last Colossi)

SotC's ending was depressing as all hell (well the whole game was, but y'know). And when you consider the generally sombre tone that runs through both Team ICO games, it would hardly be out of place for Ueda to kill off the griffin or boy at the end. Mind you, he's had so much time during development to dwell on the resolution now that I wouldn't be surprised if at some point he caught wind of the whole 'who dies?' debate and switched things up to deliberately defy expectations.

I've tried do the math.
Reveal + Hype(x Expectation) + Wait / E3 = ?? (I can't solve it... ha.)
Maybe my formula is wrong ;)

Maybe he's just hopelessly optimistic :p

Hey guys, I think it's finally time to pluck up the courage and sign up for this thing. I've been a long time sufferer. The wait hasn't been easy. I've been lying to myself by pretending everything is okay. I've been living a life of denial, acting like The Last Guardian was something I didn't care about any more. But the truth is, I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. And every time there was a no-show at E3, it broke me. I'm glad there are others out there like me. All this time, I thought I was the only who felt like this. I... I just don't think I'll be able to handle another disappointment guys.

I'm in. I'm starting to get annoyed of this limbo, let's hope in this E3 they re-announce it with a 2014 release date and a gameplay video or announce they cancelled it.
I can confirm the last gaurdian will be at e3. that is all.
What? Do you know what does it mean if this doesn't happen?

SotC's ending was depressing as all hell (well the whole game was, but y'know). And when you consider the generally sombre tone that runs through both Team ICO games

SotC's ending, as in the ultimate ending, is as happy as it can get, it shows that everybody survived, even Agro who was shown falling down a huge valley (into a river but still) and to make it extra certain for people they even named the final song "In the Land of Happiness". Clear example of happy ending.

Both ICO's and SotC's tones and themes are hope, happiness and love, not despair, fear or tragedy.

Every year I spend an inordinate amount of energy to curb my enthusiasm for TLG in fear of being disappointed at E3 and you know what...

tumblr_m4xdmwlClH1rxwzono1_250.gif

I'M ALWAYS DISAPPOINTED

So what's the use in hiding it?

I'm here because I'm excited for TLG and no amount of time between now and
theoretical
release will change that.

I BELIEVE

i'm in. tlg was the main thing that got me to buy a ps3. in 2009.

i genuinely believe there will be a trailer this year. with the shakeups at naughty dog and santa monica, it's their best opportunity of creating a ton of excitement around ps4 this e3.

that said i genuinely believed it would be shown at last e3 too
