It will be brutal to see every gaming media shit on TLG.

- While the open world is vast and beautiful, it's empty and have nothing to do..
- Control is shit and clumsy unresponsive.
- Lack of content and replay value, the game can rush through within 5 hours
- Horrible framerate
- no multiplayer mode
- no optional mission
- no multiple ending
- no customizable character
- Creature and the boy both white and male, its racist and sexism.

I was mildly amused throughout and finally I cracked up at the last point. This is a horrible scenario but one I'd not consider unlikely with the sort of opinions people like to express these days.

Sony wants their next Journey, The Last Guardian has the chance of being that, plus they need a really 'radiant' project to back their current PS4 library. The PS4 doesn't have that many exciting games, and nothing of that caliber so far announced. They've said they have people working on it, I still believe it will come.

Shinjite...

Yeah I actually don't think it will be shown. I think its dead, and Yoshida is a sadist that enjoys stringing fans hopes along to be crushed by disappointment.

Only reason I'm in this support group is be cause other poor sods can't help but reinvigorate my yearning for this game and my deep sadness for its loss... year after year.

I used to believe. I believed in 2011 and 2012 when the game had been dark for more than a year or two years...and I even believed last E3.

But no, it is now hyper omega ultra dead and it cannot be revived.
I'm an ordinary man, Kev, meat and potatoes, I live in the real world. I'm not a big believer in magic. But this E3.. is different. It's special. The others don't wanna talk about it because it scares them. But we all know it. We all feel it.

The idea Sony would pretend it's in development even though it isn't is really absurd.

They canceled The Agency after having shown it for years, and had it playable multiple times. And Sony basically announced TLG was canned via Tretton, and they went out of their way to confirm he was wrong. They'd already ripped the bandage off, and they decided to still put it back on.

Pretending it exists when it doesn't is really not believable. When we see pictures of Ueda at the office what do people really think is happening? They have an image editor on staff photoshopping him in? They pay him to come in and pose with a Rift on to keep the myth alive?

The game was a technical mess, they had a new console coming, so they delayed it to PS4, and it hasn't been re-revealed yet, that's all the 'mystery' to it.

Spot on. Exactly how I've felt this whole time, and I can never tell if the "it's dead, jim" posts are legit or just trolling because that's the go to TLG joke.

Well said. That's why I'm always baffled when people say "it's dead, let it go." It's only dead if Sony are content with digging themselves a deeper hole and eventually incurring the wrath of the internet every time they confirm it's still development when really it isn't. Of course it is. I know Sony is a corporation, and corporations aren't exactly golden beacons of truth and honesty, but what is there to gain from lying year after year when there's no way of avoiding the incoming shitstorm that will result later down the line. People aren't going to suddenly forget The Last Guardian exists, and Sony is fully aware of that. TLG is coming, it's just that the game was hamstrung by last-gen tech in a big way. And the fact that Ueda is a contrary bastard.

Now Agent for instance. Yeah, that's dead!

I still believe in TLG. It is dead for the PS3 though, but will resurface on the PS4. If they don't upgrade their graphics too much (which would add years to the project again) the PS4 should make it possible to run this game. So hopefully it should have no technically issues anymore (though won't be a PS4 looker, more like SotC HD on the PS3 was a great version of SotC but not on par with Uncharted).

It will not come this year though.

And the right place for this game would be TGS anyway and not E3.

(lol at Agent though, that is dead, was never alive beyond a one slide title).

P.S.
You can add me to the group.

Honestly with how unbelievably good the game looked, I wouldn't be surprised if they hit a lot of technical walls during development on the game for ps3, and that's why progress got so stagnant. With the ps4, they can push the graphics they wanted while making the game run smoothly as well, and that's one of the main reasons why I'm anticipating it at e3.

That and the fact that sony is pretty upfront with game cancellations, and this one hasn't been noted as killed off yet.

Bought a PS3 for this game. Fresh off the the first two ICO games blowing my mind. Spent many, many years waiting. I can't even count the amount of pillow cases I've had to replace due to the many tears I've shed. I could use some support.

Hi Everyone. My name is IkariX. And I've been addicted to the hope that The Last Guardian will one day be released.....(sits down in chair)

1st step is admitting you got a problem. ;)

You know what? This thread has completely fucked me up. I thought I had buried all this deep, deeeeeppp down inside. Now its back on the surface and sending me on a rollercoaster all over again.

But its coming, it surely is.

Absolutely agree with Stuburns. There is no way they would go out of their way to say it still exists, if they have cancelled it. However, it is missing this E3 then I am not sure if they have got their head screwed on properly. This is clearly going to do better in the West than in Japan. It will create the biggest splash at E3, and Sony sure needs to bring something special this E3.

We are going to hear nothing at E3, and that's going to be worse than a outright 'it's dead'.

Then we will hope again until TGS.

If we don't hear anything at TGS then it's done.

There's always next year ya know.

I used to believe. I believed in 2011 and 2012 when the game had been dark for more than a year or two years...and I even believed last E3.
I feel Last Guardian has simply been Sony Japan's FFXIII & FFXV combined. Not completely analogous, but basically Sony Japan has been kind of fucked during the PS3 gen with the whole studio having been mismanaged and in trouble in regards to developing on such tricky hardware, which (in addition to an ambitious aim with the game) caused Last Guardian's development to be riddled with problems like Crystal Tools/FFXIII were. Then some other projects have taken priority and in the end they moved it to PS4 like FFXV. The reason it didn't appear at E3 or TGS 2013 is simply a matter of priorities in marketing (Puppeteer & GT6 were Sony Japan's last hurraah's for PS3, Knack was the sole focus on PS4). If they knew Last Guardian was a late 2014 or a 2015 release, they wouldn't want to show it too prematurely, they only announced stuff like The Order & DriveClub so early because they needed to have something for the future and it was better to show new IPs rather that has had tons of development problems in the past. It's the early days of a console generation, devs haven't even gotten to develop on a finished dev kit for a year so stuff is ready to be shown a bit later than normally in the development of a game. Now, Sony Japan doesn't really have anything else announced, so IF Last Guardian is their next push, I would hope they could get it out by early 2015 at latest and showing a PS4 level Last Guardian with maybe a tentative "in 2014" or "early 2015" release date would be somewhat of a megaton for E3, and Sony will probably need those to fight against Microsoft's possibly large showing.

The other thing is that resources were diverted to Project Beast (probably just producers), Knack, Puppeteer, and other Vita projects. Not sure who would be working on this other than a small team and that would mean this is far off. But it is dead so it doesn't matter.
Knack & Puppeteer are the only games actually DONE by Sony's Japan Studios from all of those and not just creatively controlled and/or published by Sony, are they not? And both Knack & Puppeteer are such not-huge projects that they wouldn't necessarily have to halt development on Last Guardian completely while working on them, but a smaller team could still have been working on Last Guardian, taking the project forward while Knack & Puppeteer were being focused on. And then they could have moved all of the workforce behind Puppeteer & Knack to work on Last Guardian after those two games were finished. The game's initial move to PS4 would probably have happened so long ago (2012?) that I don't think it's completely impossible a notion that they could crunch out Last Guardian for PS4 within 1-1,5 years after PS4's launch for a late 2014/early 2015 release. If the groundwork has been laid well before late 2013 when Puppeteer & Knack were released and they've then moved a big part of Sony Japan to finish it, a year might be enough to push it out, even if they've done a bigger revamp (especially if the decision to move it to PS4 was made early enough, which would explain the silence around the game a little bit, much like the silence around FFXV was explained by it) and not just upped the resolution or something. And really, the game would probably still look gorgeous even if they "just" upped the resolution into 1080p & made improvements to framerate, AA, lighting, maybe some other VFX and at least to the protagonist, catdogbird and other more important characters..

wow sir. this is an honour! ;_;

pm me closer to E3 and we can discuss strategy. one way or another we are going to get this game in June and GAF will bow down on its knees in legit shook

Japan Studios has Freedom Wars, Oreshika, Gravity Rush 2, Project Beast and a few projects like Deep Down with other studios going on, the SSM dude who went over there said the problems when he arrived there was that the studio took on too many projects and nothing was getting finished. Lots of projects were put on hold and staff put to work on fewer, more matured games. TLG is either put on hold too or it's a long term slow project currently maintained by few core staff that is stilll years away. I believe Japan Studios is working at full capacity now to get those ~6 games out,

It will be brutal to see every gaming media shit on TLG.

It's not dead until we see the body. It's the law, GAF.

E3 will be the proving ground. Or Tokyo Game Show. Or next Comiket. Or *snip*
