Ridiculous ass btw

I could be off base with this, but from the dialogue quoted in the article it seems like they swapped thanos and Ronan in drax's origin in that killing Ronan seems to be Drax's only objective.
Yeah, that's how they changed it. Though people have speculated that it'll turn out that Thanos was behind Ronan all along, and he's the one truly responsible anyway.

I'm going to be so, so let down if they don't regrow Groot from a splinter.

Edit: Knowhere, fuck yeh. Cosmo better show up somewhere up in this bitch.

Pratt signed on for three Guardians movies, weeeeeeeeeeeeee, please be the new starwars, but each one more awesome :)

Standard Marvel contract I believe. I hope Pratt finds success in this, as someone who had never heard of him nor GOTG before any of this, I really want to see more.

Nah, it's pretty clear that that's the case. It's going to be the Avengers who ultimately defeat Thanos in the MCU (though the GotG could well guest-star in Avengers 3), so setting that up as the resolution of Drax's arc wouldn't really work.

Pratt is the chosen one. He is what Taylor Kitsch, Ryan Reynolds, Army Hammer, Josh Harnatt, Tom Sizemore, and Ryan Gosling wanted to be.

Oh, it was confirmed somewhere?
Missed that info.
Makes more sense for the film.
I'm sure we'll see some ties to thanos in the film, I wonder how overt they will be though - so many of the characters have links to him in their own back stories.

My girlfriend was watching this, turned to me and asked me how this was not in our collective veins and whether we could name our first born son Rocket.

The first trailer said Drax's species was unknown. I assume they'll get to his true backstory in a later movie. I think he should still be the one to kill Thanos further down the line past Avengers 3.

What is Marvel's biggest risky film, this or Ant Man?

/I'm sold on this but I have a nagging feeling it might not do good, I guess we should be thankful 50 Shades of Grey got pushed back.

GoTG will probably be the riskiest. Ant-Man is actually a superhero, plus you have Edgar Wright, Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas. It seems to be much easier to sell.

It's all but confirmed that Thanos will actually appear in full, but he's unlikely to get much screen time and it almost certainly won't be as any kind of physical antagonist. The latter would be tough to pull off without diluting his role in Avengers 3.

They seemed to have cut his ties with Thanos to be honest. Ronan kills his family in the film and that's who he's going after for revenge, he might go after Thanos later but he doesn't have the physical connection to him that he has in the comics anymore.

Still don't think it will do well. All these trailers are terrible IMO. If this movie turns out to be good, they need to stuff whoever did the marketing for this movie into a rocket and shoot it into the sun... Because they have done next to EVERYTHING to convince me its awful.

Even the music choices in the trailers is off.

As someone who doesn't read comics and had never even heard of GotG prior to the first trailer, the two trailers they've put out have rocketed it to the top of my list of most anticipated movie. Over the top, fun, awesome... Sign me the fuck up.

Same galaxy, just not in our solar system. At least that's how it is in the comics iirc.

Nope, Xandar is in the Andromeda Galaxy, Hala Ronan's homeworld is in the Large Magellenic cloud, and Knowhere is at the literal end of the universe.

so they going to be getting around.

I'm kinda glad that Agents of SHIELD won't be able to walk in on the set of GotG. Or even reference anything about it. Keeps the Guardians and the mystery of any other species or authorities out of Earth's reach.

I'm pretty sure the Xandar and the Kree are both in different galaxies. And Knowhere is like at the edge of the universe.

It appears I am wrong, that's a bit confusing. So what's located in the milky way galaxy?

You don't think the Chitauri haven't been autopsied to hell and back already? More alien shit coming to earth is inevitable.
