Who will have the biggest E3 surprise?

For me, E3 is all about the surprises. I like a good stage demo like anyone, but the moments I live for are the things I didn't see coming. The FF13 to 15. The KH3. Gabe introducing Portal 2 at Sony. Mirrors edge 2. No new restrictions on used games. So on and so forth.

So, as with any E3 I look forward eagerly to the biggest surprise.

Who has the best chance?

Sony. Pick a game, the last guardian, god of war 4, some other game . thing about Sony, they are good at these surprise announcements and pretty good with the execution. Most of the moments above were Sony doing what they do best.

Who will probably have it instead?

Got to say, these MS pre-E3 annoucements make me think they have an ace in the hole planned, something somehow bigger than halo 5. Problem is now, I'm expecting something big, so if they don't deliver its going to be problematic.

What about the other contenders?

Ninty, I honestly don't know what the elephant has planned. I mean, we do, Zelda. I guess that's the problem. Nintendo hasn't surprised me in a long time, last year my expectations were sooooo low that I didn't think they could undercut it... And they did. I can't wait to see Zelda, and I'm secretly hoping for another game to blow me away.

Ea. Great conference last year with Battlefront and mirrors edge 2. Surprises? I bet on it. I think we are going to see a lightsaber game, or rather something really cool with that star wars license.

Ubisoft. Two solid straight years of a strong game finishing out the conference. Problem is, now its expected. I want a prince of Persia surprise, something more action and adventure and less shooty.

Point is, surprise game companies. Its why e3 exists. I wanna hype.

The best part of a surprise, is that they are surprising. And if you are expecting the surprise, it kinda failed as a surprise.

So uhhh. I dont know yet, thats kind of the point of a surprise. Instead of speculating, why not just be surprised?

Earlier this year I would have said Ubisoft given their two year successive surprise, but i highly doubt it for them this year given their resource allocations.

I'd say Nintendo.

Nintendo hasn't announced any game in the last few months, apart for Pokemon remake.
I think they are going to unleash a storm of announcements.
At least I hope so.

I'd say Nintendo or Microsoft, I really don't know what those two will come up with. Nintendo will probably show some new Zelda stuff, but that can't be everything right? MK8 is out, SmashBros is almost there and I doubt they'll do yet another 3D/2D Mario.

MS already announced Halo 5, so they will probably have something even bigger (or will fail spectacularly). I guess Sony will show some more Morpheus, Uncharted, Last of Us, maybe a new GoW; even if they'd show Last Guardian it would be no real surprise, would it?

not sure if activision is having a press conference, but i think they have a lot of potential. Even though bliizzard shows everything first at bliizzcon, I wouldn't be completely shocked to see a teaser or something from them at e3. Plus with destiny and advanced warfare, they will have some amazing things to show regardless.

bethesda could announce a new fallout game or a new ES game and that would also be quite the surprise, but also kinda necessary with how ES:O has been received.

Probably Nintendo, despite not having any surprises last year. They're the best first party at not having everything leak, imo. So if they have surprises to show, they will be surprising.
I'm kinda worried Sony's big surprise could have been Project Beast. I'm also worried that Microsoft will consider revealing nktrnl leaks surprising enough. But hopefully those worries won't prove true.

Hopefully Nintendo, they haven't announced shit all year, even skipping over the usual bimonthly direct for the Smash, Tomodachi and Mario Kart directs. Should make for a much more exciting E3 than last years for them.

Does anyone outside of specific hardcore video game forums actually want The Last Guardian? I don't even know what's so special about it apart from the fact it's been delayed a lot.

Microsoft must have a few major bombs if theyre announcing a bunch of stuff early. Sonys show will be as interesting as doing a tax return unless ps3 ports get you excited. Nintendo will have almost nothing for wiiU(end of life) and solid 3ds lineup but nothing that will destroy minds.

Nintendo: Metroid Prime 4

not happening. next Metroid is a side scroller on 3ds.

If it isn't Nintendo, they have some serious problems. They've been exceptionally quiet with announcements all year.

With that said, I reckon Sony's probably going to have the biggest shock.

Nintendo will surprise me like they have always done. Sometimes not as much as other times, but surprise still. Since I don't follow Sony's and Microsoft's doings, I don't think anything by them surprises me.

I feel like we know so many unreleased games for Wii U as it is so I don't think there will be much on that front outside of showing what the new Zelda will look like (and FExSMT tho who knows when they show it). When E3 comes we are still waiting for Bayo 2, X, Yarn Yoshi, Zelda, FExSMT, Smash and they JUST got MK8 out. There is a lot of baggage from last year carrying over.

The interesting thing to look foreward to is what they have to show for 3DS methinks. Do we know anything from Nintendo outside of Pokemon remakes coming? (edit: and Smash, forgot about that one.)

Well, I guess the QOL stuff could be surprising?

Back to the topic: I think MS will have the biggest surprise this year. Some third party deal I'd imagine.

Nintendo Joins forces with Apple and creates the ultimate gaming phone perfect for gamers. Megatons and lots of tears of either joy or sadness, people would not know how to react.

I'm still hoping Sony is going to WOW us somehow.

They've been so quiet since last E3, they have to have SOMETHING worthwhile to show.

Sony is the one with the most cards, they still have a fuckton of 1st party title to announce and who knos how many 3rd party collaborations are preparing (like Project Beast, which btw i hope if it was Sony's surprise they better get another one).

Also MS has very good chance, they are so desperate to reduce the distance between them and Sony that they're open to everything. Just if it's a big surprise i think it won't come from their 1st party, probably a 3rd party exclusive.

Everyone is expecting ME4 at EA's conference so that's already ruled out as the big surprise, maybe one of the unnannounced Star Wars games, but even there we already know they're developing them.

Ubisoft had two very good reveals in the last years (Watch Dogs and Division), but you already know that whatever it is it's gonna get downgraded with time.

SE, we already doubt FFXV is gonna be there, let alone a brand new game from their japanese IPs (although one of their western games is almost guaranteed).

Aside from MGSV, Konami could push out a Contra or Castlevania reboot.

Capcom's next gen schedule is pretty barren outside Deep DOwn and the obvious STIV. I guess they teased RE7 for a reason iirc.

My money is on Microsoft. They're gonna want to turn the tide of the konsole warz before Sony's lead becomes even more drastic.

But then who fucking knows what Nintendo is up to.

They're the most quiet of any of the big three. Not a peep out of them aside from Yoshida retweeting the date for their conference. Even Nintendo is making more noise than Sony.

Nintendo have the purest potential for this stuff, but whether they deliver or not is completely different.

their skylanders like game with Nintendo characters is going to be their big thing. theres huge potential for it, especially on 3ds but I don't think the gaf crowd will care.

It'd be hilarious if Microsoft's Platinum Games deal is Bayonetta 3 exclusive to Xbox One. That would definitely shake things up around here.

Realistically I think MS will have some good surprises, though. They've got a lot to make up for.

I'm gonna guess Xbox, they seem to have something big planned for E3. I have been burned too many times by getting my hopes up for Nintendo press conferences or announcements and having them be colossal disappointments. I'm keeping my expectations low for them.
