Ubisoft: "We won't be showing off any Nintendo games at E3 this year"

Par for the course on WiiU. Put it out to pasture already.

You're right, might as well can MK8 too while they're at it.

Glad we got to see yet another resurgence of the "lol Watch Dogs is cancelled" circle jerk. Figured we wouldn't make it past E3 without one, and I was not disappointed.

No More No More Heroes T_T

Do they have the exclusive right to publish that in the west? I always assumed the company that published Killer is Dead would publish a sequel.

Anyways, if you owned any other 7th/8th gen title, you weren't buying any Ubisoft games for the Wii U. You'd rather play them where they looked better (Xbox One/PS4) or where more of your friends were playing them (PS3/360). So I can't say I'm surprised, or that it's dumb of Ubisoft, because it's not.

This would bother me if Ubisoft actually made anything interesting lately.

Watch_Dogs looks hella boring and Assassin's Creed has been ruined. The only thing that would upset me is a new Rayman title but I'm kind of done post-Legends.

Actually, I think the only game I care about from them right now is Beyond Good & Evil 2 and that wasn't going to hit the Wii U anyway.

If only the industry spoke so freely about their unannounced projects as they do about shitting on Nintendo.

Reading this book right now about the Genesis vs SNES days ("Console Wars" by Blake Harris, check it out decent read) and it makes you really understand why third parties fucking despised Nintendo after the NES era even though Nintendo saved the industry. Their scummy business practices made them money hand over fist, but soured relations with third parties to a degree that they still haven't recovered from.

Understandable. I've been saying since last Fall that after Watch Dogs Ubisoft support would end. Oh well I appreciate their effort. I've brought 5 Wii U games from them and will pick up Rayman Legends and Watch Dogs. Though I Zombi U and AC III were the only games I got near release. The rest were picked up for $15-$25.

Personally Zombi U and Rabbids were the only games that interested me but I got two games at launch to support as well as buy later releases.

As others have said, there might still be a Just Dance, they just won't be showing it since the E3 audience generally doesn't give a crap about such games. Better to spend their time and money on other things. Or maybe the Wii U is now truly dead to them, like it is to most other 3rd parties.

It was only a matter of time. Now on the WiiU, for the first time ever there literally is no 3rd party support left on a Nintendo console (excluding shovelware and Nintendo published games from other companies). It was never even close to being this bad before and all that despite coming from market leadership. I don't think it's possible to fuck up harder than Nintendo did with the WiiU on every level.

it's not like their games were helping, they werent selling any wii u's and they werent selling well on their own for that matter. Ubisoft might as well not have been there because they made 0 dent what so ever, their franchises don't have pull. Any future game wouldn't have made a single difference to Wii U's situation, the only thing that could increase Wii U's sales is nintendo games, not ports of some what popular franchises.

Hey, I'm just being honest, come at me if you want

I would say it's at least mildly surprising if for no other reason than Just Dance.

Though, the answer might be they finally decided to stop showing that series at E3.

I wouldn't be surprised if they push Kinect as the primary platform for that series in the future.

And some people believed that Wii U can live past the 2015. Yeah, right. Nintendo will pull the plug before the year ends.

Why are 3rd parties abandoning the Wii U?
Poor hardware sales (limited maximum on revenue), generally poor attach rate of 3rd party titles, most difficult and obtuse architecture out of all next gen consoles, general poor support from Nintendo themselves, etc etc.

The real question is why Ubisoft remained as the last strong supporter of Nintendo, up until now, and what exactly caused this recent shift in stance. I speculate that they were watching the Nintendo financials very closely, and really didn't like what they saw/heard for the near future.

Why all third party have to mention that out laud?
Did Nintendo killed their parents or something?

Cos Nintendoomed gets clicks from Nintendo fans and haters alike, otherwise it would be like the Vita where nobody gives a shit so the press don't make these type of articles.

Want it to go away, don't be clickbaited. (although Ubisoft not making WiiU / 3DS games is a bigger deal than usual so it's kind of warranted imo)

There's a lot of assumption about Just Dance being a shoe-in even if they don't show it. I'm not so sure about that. I can't find a single bit of news to support the idea that there will be another Just Dance version this year (for any system). In the last 5 years the Just Dance franchise has become as saturated as the Guitar Hero franchise was towards the end of its lifespan. The reviews for Just Dance 4 were decidedly "meh" and the critical reception for the franchise, overall, has been sliding for the last two years.

I think is not a good idea assume that, I really don´t think the next Just Dance is going to skip Nintendo platforms or E3.

It's possible that Just Dance is shown, with platforms TBD. It's also possible that, with camera/motion gaming starting to wind down, that Ubisoft decides to wait to show Just Dance and keeps E3 about more relevant tech & releases.

Will be curious to see how this plays out.

Ehh, that's a shame I guess. I've actually been pretty good when it comes to their games. I've got...6 games from them on the Wii U. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

I'm genuinely surprised that not even Just Dance will be shown (any word otherwise?).

not even nintendo :(

Yes, because there are no more Nintendo games coming out on the Wii U. Smash has been canceled. Zelda U is slated to be a Sony exclusive. The Wii U is being tossed into dumpsters even as we speak.
/sarcasm

I should have expected before even entering this thread that it would be one massive Wii U bashing thread/Nintendoomed thread. I'm leaving now before I say anything stupid that will get me banned. I enjoy Neogaf too much to risk that more than I already have. One last thing before I jump ship, the Wii U has good games, I wouldn't call Nintendo's output awful unless you don't explore the options available on the console.

Because Nintendo fans don't buy any other games that aren't made by Nintendo.

My guess is that most Wii U owners have another console too. So while they play the third party Xbox or Playstation game - they only play Nintendo games on their Wii U.

Vicious cycle. Third party puts more emphasis & effort into the Xbox/Playstation version. Consumer buys that version. Even though they have a Wii U. Third Party stops making Wii U games.

It's not my fault WiiU is a flop. I see little point in even having one other than for some Nintendo games. It is what it is so sorry if that hurts feelings. If it was better than I would be saying but missing out on so many AAA games or just games in general isn't doing WiiU favors.

Ubisoft had a big presence for the system early on so this is pretty bad for Nintendo. I loved ZombiU (still my favorite on the system next to NFS) and just bought Child of Light, which I thought was an action game but that's another story.

nintendo's output on wii u is awful. it's worse if you consider that they have to carry the system because 3rd parties are out. but they are just trying to space out a handful of games with indie and VC releases in between.

And actually there is no lie in there.

Because Nintendo fans don't buy any other games that aren't made by Nintendo.

Nintendo fans (that sounds awful btw) are buying other games too, but they mostly are console exclusives. Even if i cared about WatchDogs why would i get it on WiiU when i can get it on PC? I own every console except X1 (not yet anyway) and all my libraries are console exclusives, multiplats are for PC.

And yea, i buy Nintendo to play Nintendo. If you are buying Nintendo to play AC you're doing it wrong.

Because Nintendo fans don't buy any other games that aren't made by Nintendo.

Not even close to true.

Tiger Woods Wii was the best-selling version. Bravely Default was successful. Rayman sold well on Wii/U.

There are some pieces of software that do really well. The ports of graphic-intensive games, however, just don't. I mean, why buy a port on inferior hardware?
