Amplitude (Harmonix) PS3/PS4 - KS (Funded, final day)

Congrats to everyone, I'm really happy to see that my first backed project ended up being successful. I wonder how much of those 12 thousand backers are actually GAF members? Maybe as much as 10-15%?

I truly didn't see this coming but I'm glad it was able to make it. Any official word on why they won't do a vita version?

So I was throwing out a bunch of old artwork I've been meaning to get rid of, and serendipitously found this pic I made in May of 2003. I had no idea I still had it 11 years later!! Thought some of you in here might appreciate this reminder of how obsessed I was with the original game.

It was done with a bunch of glow in the dark pens and highlighters. Unfortunately a lot of the ink has faded and no longer glows in the dark or really responds to black light... It used to look so cool at night.

I would've though Vita stretch goal would be less than 1 mil. Couldn't be that expensive to port it can it?

My guess is given their lack of experience with Vita, plus challenges associated with getting their ps4/ps3 engine to run well on it, they'd be looking at a steep curve and maybe contracting out.

I remember seeing a website or two saying this would never make its Kickstarter goal.

Some retractions are in order.

I even spoke to a Harmonix dev on Twitter about my lack of belief.

I am going to tweet him a picture of a crow on a plate later. Glad I and many others were wrong!

I don't care about competitive MP. An online co-op mode, on the other hand, could be neat. It'd certainly make the harder difficulties easier with two people working together, it'd be fun too.

As the great man Jack Nicholson asked in the triumph of Western cinema that was the film Mars Attacks, 'Why destroy when you can create?'

Hey guys, I'm unfamiliar to how kickstarter works and I'd like to donate some money to this.

If I donate money, am I given a copy of the game? Or would I have to buy it when the game is completed? I don't have an issue in paying more to buy it after the donation, but I'd like to use this opportunity to learn more about kickstarter.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

I noticed he just favorited an Amplitude-related tweet as well.

I'd love if he could work something out with Harmonix to feature one of his songs again.

If any EDM artist will make it, I bet it will be him. Come on, Somnambulist. Oh god yes. Heck, he could get his own stage. Flaming June, Somnambulist, Skylarking, The Emergency...

When you pledge money, you can select a reward tier. For example, $20 gets you a cross-buy code (PS3/PS4) for the game when it releases. It's basically like pre-ordering it (except way in advance).

If you look on the right side of the kickstarter page, you'll see reward tiers. $20 gets you the game.

If you put in $20 and select the reward for the $20 tier, you will get a code for the game when it releases. So no you don't have to buy it again. Assuming everything works out on their end correctly.

I really wish the first stretch goal was a Vita version but you will be able to remote play on it atleast.

Trying to remote play Amplitude seems like a bad idea... it requires *very* precise timing.

Anyway, it's a shame the first stretch goal is multiplayer. I really don't need any multiplayer for a game like this.

...Vita, Vita, Vita, Vita...

Most Kickstarters massively underestimate the cost of porting to a new platform because they only consider the technical aspect of "getting it to run" without factoring in the costs of getting hold of hardware, additional testing, user interface and control changes, usability testing, platform specific compliance changes, platform specific marketing/launch assets, submission logistics, and subsequent support.

well with vita they don't have to market it, no one does, they save money there.

Me as well. The hype train swept me up and then some. I love music games anyways though.

*raises hand*

I don't really understand why it's such a big deal to donate to something you have no intention of playing. I'm investing in people's creativity and I generally want to help out. It's like when I went to Obsidian and people said to me "thank you for our jobs". It was incredibly humbling.

Wow, can't believe they turned it around. Fantastic.
Is the only way to get this game is via this Kickstarter? Or can I buy the game once it's released for PS4?
KS is just for the funding. It's the "publisher". Once the game is out it'll be on storefronts like any other digital game.

So I worked out, took a shower, and had my dinner.

Still feeling euphoric about this. Backed a game from a series I played very little of and totally forgot about. Hell its Mt first KS period.

Just knowing that the (rabid and happy) fans here on GAF get their sequel/spiritual Successor though really makes that backing worth it all.

Yea its great I get a game, but here are some seriously passionate devs finding out that after all these years they still have fans who are just as passionate about their work. It must feel fantastic.

Once again, congrats everyone. Stretch goal or not, I hope to see tons of your streams and show my own.

That looks amazing. You are very talented I must say. You should of covered it or sealed it with that plastic stuff man. Shit looks dope as hell. Cant imagine what it would look like at night. + rep!
