The Order: 1886 new gifs and info

Perhaps Sony is planning on dropping a bombshell and releasing The Order alongside their press conference day and date, with the next Uncharted coming out late fall....kabooooom.

You're forgetting Planetside2 and DeepDown, there is also TheWitness if you want to count that.(I think we should count it.)
I also think Sonys exclusive beta and marketing will tie Destiny to the Playstation.
And the fact that most 3rd party games will probably look and/or run better on Ps4 is also not to be underestimated.
Obviously there is a bunch of stuff, there will be on XBO too, and just personally, I don't care about DC, FH2, or Halo HD, so I certainly still favor Sony's lineup this holiday, but not having an 'Order-like' release this fall seems like a mistake to me. If Sony dominates this holiday in the US, XBO is done, a single must play exclusive that is technologically ahead of the pack seems vital.

Two things, while this would not be good news for Sony's fall line up, RAD isn't a Sony studio. Second, what issues in the past few years? WWS output last year was fantastic and was solid the few years before. If E3 comes and goes and 2015 looks empty, then I'll start to get worried about management but right now 2014 being quiet is more of an anomaly given what they've done since 2009.

I'm criticizing their preparation for this first year of the PS4. I find the decision to green light projects like Knack and Driveclub to be a mistake. I think it was a mistake to load 2013 with so many PS3 games, almost all of which sold disappointingly, when they could have pushed at least one or two of them into 2014 PS4 projects. It just feels to me like a lot of this was bungled, and while the PS3 did have a lot of games in 2013, the PS4 has now been left with a very weak 2014 lineup. That's a position their poor planning has left them in.

Do I need to prove some people make a choice between two consoles? Blatant common sense should be more than sufficient.

You made a very specific claim within the context of exclusive games, not a general point that people make a choice between consoles.

Are there so many people making this choice based on exclusives it's an issue for Sony?

He claimed that each time someone buys one console they are less likely to buy the other. This claim requires no evidence beyond the facts that 1) the consoles largely perform the same functions and 2) people have limited funds at their disposal.

I don't agree that I did that at all.

I would imagine the mindshare of which is better is the most important aspect, which I think is made up of many elements, one of which is exclusives.

The Order had a good chance of being this generation's Gears, the big second holiday technological generation leap everyone was waiting for. It was never going to outsell the big multiplatform games, but it's position as the Sony's big holiday showpiece would have been central to the perception of the platform.

Indeed. Not every time of course, some people will always buy both, some are only ever interested in a specific one, but I think a very large number of people are willing to buy either, but only one of them.

Alright, I get that.

Why do you think DriveClub was a mistake though? I know it got a LONG delay but the recent previews have been saying good things about that.

I don't think its nuts to say SCE has been a bit if a mess. Ever since last e3 its been Cancelled games, huge depatures and delays.

E3 better be big for them.

Sony's exclusive output has been utterly, utterly dreadful this generation.

What a shambles.

If you thought it's bad now... you should have seen 2006-2007 for PS3.

Regardless, It's in my best interest to not care about Sony's ammunition for the console war and care more about the quality of this title. From what they've shown, this game could REALLY use a 2015 release date.

It's pure personal opinion, but yes, I've been saying it for a while now, I was very confused by the Driveclub project. I just feel like there are lots of games that fit into that same exact niche. GRID, Need for Speed, Forza Horizon, and I feel like all three of those games are more appealing to me. So for me Driveclub just occupies this strange no man's land, and I'm a big racing game fan.

Motorstorm on the other hand is unique in this day and age. I would love to see them make one of those on the PS4, or something else more over the top and unrealistic.

Sony released a lot of games in 2006-2007 despite internal struggling with PS3. This year has been filled with bad news in WWS. Cancelled IP, huge departures, and possibility of delaying of games etc.

Order is all but confirmed is delayed which is a huge bummer to me. It was my system seller this holiday season. I hope Sony has WWS for 2015 E3 news that make me forget about the delay.

Keep testing that fence for weaknesses...

If this is delayed that would suck I was really looking forward to it. This and QB were the games I was looking forward too the most.

Not having a big exclusive game for this fall may cost Sony US and UK this holiday season.

highly doubtful. What most people on this forum continue to fail to realize is that 3rd parties drive most of the software and hardware sales. We're getting Destiny, AC Unity, Far Cry, NBA2k Madden, COD, Driveclub, TLOU remaster. Plenty of things for people to buy and be happy with.

I think people need to stop acting like 3rd parties don't exist. This is the price most of pay for being an early adopter unfortunately. Still in this first year there is plenty to play. Devs need time to make these games as good as they can be.

And can we stop with the hyperbole? People leave studios all the time. ND was highlighted most likely because it's such a staple of this industry. And we heard about ONE cancelled game that we saw nothing of. It was probably shit.

So lets just calm down. Get ready for E3 and lets watch all of these companies compete for our dollar.

Sony's exclusive output has been utterly, utterly dreadful this generation.

What a shambles.

Yet Res0gun is one of the best games I've played this gen.

Infamous was hella fun. And is easily the best looking game out there.

Killzone has probably the most enjoyable online multiplayer in an FPS so far this gen.

MLB : The Show has all the features of the previous gen titles but with greatly enhanced visuals

DriveClub looks like it will be a very fun racing game, while looking and sounding better then almost anything else out there.

In all reality, the first party output has been phenomenal. Can't wait to see what these studios can do now that they are away from the launch / launch window rush and can do nothing but concentrate on content / gameplay.

What a shambles!

The hyperbole of this generation has been nothing short of awe-inspiring

What worries me isn't the fact that Sony has seemingly lackluster releases this year - it's when these "exclusives" studios that had 1st dibs on the PS4 devkits are about 3 1/2 years into development, most of which are supposedly AAA-budgeted titles.

It really is very concerning when they need THAT much development time to release a game. Delaying it till next year would only extend the costs further, so what exactly is happening is the poor management within their studios or this current-gen phase is that much more problematic to develop for than the previous gen.

Damn Knack don't get no love

WTF are you talking about? The console has only been out half a year, and in the last few months Sony first-party studios released the gorgeous Infamous: Second Son, and the best sports game on the market, MLB: The Show.

If this game is delayed, I do expect we'll still see a lot of it at E3. After a reveal that didn't do the game any favors among people who haven't followed RAD's interviews, they really need to show the monsters, the unique weapons, and the destruction.

I guess I can't really weigh in on that since I'm not a racing game fan.

All eyes will be on the live stage demo. It will have to impress to get people on board the hype train. I really hope the gameplay wows me as the BRoll footage from February didn't show much of what they promised.

Oh come on now

I mean dont get me wrong. The platform wont exactly starving for games when The Order gets delayed but its still a bad showing on SCE's part.

Sony giving its developers freedom to take their time or resting on its laurels and thinking it can coast with some exclusive DLC for a few multiplat games and some indies in between? E3 will be the answer.

Having no other big game in the pipeline for this holiday if the Order gets pushed is a bit of a bad look.

Doesnt help when you look at how the big SCE studios are doing.
SSM is clearly a mess right now.
Uncharted 4 development is in disarray
Insomniac bailed
Polyphony Digital is off in its own little world and if GT6's performance is anything to go by they cant simply rest on that brand anymore.

Wait a minute.....Maybe Media Molecule has something coming in 2014? Could that happen?

You have absolutely no idea what stage of development the game is in. You have absolutely no idea what it's like behind the scenes there.

I do though. I'll tell you. Like every company in the world, people in video game companies make transitions, including high level people. When they do, the company hires more talent. And life at the company goes on as normal. The end. Scandalous, I know.

How many of those studios have games coming soon? Ie. This year?

If all SCE has to show for 2014 is Infamous, TLOU HD and Driveclub? WTF! 2 of those games are delayed launch games and the other is a HD remaster

They also have The Order. Which you're assuming is going to be delayed for no other reason than you enjoy panicking. And of course there's the possibility of an E3 surprise. Compare that to MS, which currently only has Sunset Overdrive and Halo collection. Probably Forza. Sony is doing fine.

There is another reason called twitter.

MM and/or a mid sized project from SCEJ seem like the kind of things that could get away with being announced at E3 for a fall release.
