Well damn.

Is that real? Because I have never read a most misogynistic piece ever in my life.

Just don't become the next Pottery Killer.

Why can't these gorgeous Blackfoot Indian women with flowing black hair realize that my pottery is superior to all these native douche bags?
Have they not seen my clay?

edit:
I use the same kiln as Le Creuset.

His walking on sunshine video is so damn eerie after reading the manifesto. Because you know what's really going through his head, what he's thinking about, his planning and scheming. The fact that he left such a visible footprint before this mass shooting is interesting, the mass shooting is fucking tragic, absolutely terrible, but with this material left behind we're given some perspective.

There was nothing "nice" about him. He can go fuck off.
I should see how 4chan and reddit is viewing this sicko.

Hundreds of people on Reddit were laughing at him last week. Now there's the idea that "we should have done something." On Tumblr, there's a post being spread about how he is proof that the Men's Rights Movement endorses the murder of women.

Bring me up to speed. He was a redditor that posted something dumb and then went on a rampage or what?

Thanks to the unnamed mod who changed the title of thread.

Why is it that I get the feeling that mass shootings in America are becoming more and more common and the requisite rage it induces is becoming less common?

I can't be the only one who thinks this is REALLY.FUCKED.UP.

After the massacre at the primary school I gave up on ever thinking the US could change their gun laws. If that wasn't enough to change thinking nothing ever will be :(

What's scary for me is the idea that every now and then there is genuine sociopathic violent resolve behind your garden variety internet troll.

This war of attritions between MRA and Feminists is really going to bring itself to a boiling point.

I'm guessing this incident will only add fuel to that fire.

Really sad that the parents didn't take action after finding the video :(

Wow, what a deranged individual.

I've got to be honest - I've dipped a little into the PUA stuff, and while some of it has a little merit (confidence in yourself, eye contact etc,) I've found a lot of it to be way too chauvinistic for my liking. This guy kind of proves why.

Some smaller subreddit saw and mocked some of his narcissistic youtube videos a few days ago. There's no evidence in his final writings that he even saw the reddit posting though and his "day of retribution" plans had been written out long before any internet attention.

If a man grows up without knowing of the existence of women, there will be no desire for sex. Sexuality will completely cease to exist. Love will cease to exist.
For starters.. :lol

Maybe he's a self loathing homosexual? To not even acknowledge man-love is pretty telling IMO.

I can't figure this kid out.
Can't be real, can't be real, can't be real.

Just glad he didn't actually win the lottery. I can only imagine what kind of horrible things he would have accomplished if he actually had that kind of money. :(

Maybe it's because of years and years of sarcasm and irony on the internet but sadly I don't think I will ever take something like this seriously unless it personally impacts me somehow.

That last paragraph. Crying and throwing a tantrum because you didn't win the lotto is stupid enough but "thrashing at my bed with my wooden practice sword" and "slashing at the air with my pocket knife" sounds beyond parody.

He was really banking on the lottery to make him happy? Wasn't he already coming from wealth?!

...fuck, this guy was really fucking delusional.

How does one even get to this point?

I wonder what might of happened in some sort of alternate timeline where he won the lottery. Would it have made him happy like he thought it would? He was pretty much banking on girls throwing themselves at him when he got rich. Any kind of girl that wants you for your wealth isn't worth dating. He probably would have still ended up sad. Could be an even worse timeline. The lottery wealth could have helped him get access to better weapons.

Yeah...

He has absolutely nothing to do with 'pick up artists'. His writings show he never even attempted to approach women in any sort of serious way, he just expected them to throw themselves at him because he was in his view perfect (or rather was a narcissistic psychopath). They may be chauvinists, but they're even less involved in this than video games.

A big question that sprung to mind during the manifesto is why the fuck would you ever tell your child that they were an accident.
Seems irrelevant to me. Do children need to believe they were strategically planned to be brought into this world?

I'm pretty sure I was told at some point that I "just happened" and we had a big laugh over it.

I feel as if those who use sarcasm and irony as humor devices are not too apt in knowing exactly how to use them to begin with, myself included.

I can also see the forums and communities where this stuff goes unchecked to be a lot stricter afterwards, or at least I hope so.

Considering the odds of winning the lottery are slim, he was doing nothing more but wasting money which could've been put to much better use.

He was banking on more material wealth to keep him happy and check off another thing on his mental checklist.

After skimming through the manifesto, hanging around with positive people would've made a huge difference. I can understand his resentment due to his inferiority complex. There were excerpts stating his individual strengths and outright rejected it because he claimed there are more people who are more skillful than he is. I was extremely disheartened as I read through the manifesto because he never got out his resentment, and never took the time to appreciate the people who were willing to raise his self-esteem.

Oh yeah did you guys read that part where he did an intense work out for two weeks? I laughed so hard at that part. Like two weeks of training was all his body needed to make him musclebound and more attractive to girls.

Well, I think my problem is that while reading lines about his wooden practice sword and "swinging around crutches as if they were swords," I can't help picture anything but this:

so even though this is a REAL situation where people were murdered, the image I get while reading is such a joke stereotype which has been made fun of so much that it's hard to view it as reality.

This is the camp I'm in. It's really hard for me to believe anyone is this insolent.
Unless it's some kind of autism spectrum disorder?

As expected, 4chan isn't condoning this kind of behavior (at least from what I've read most of today on /b/). There were many, many comments about how "beta" he is.

As a side comment, I feel like there's little room to blame "video games" for this type of incident, as multiple media outlets usually do. He references WoW a lot, but he constantly says he used it as an escape - is that considered positive? Or is the media going to find a way to turn this into a "video games cause violence" situation?

No.

Most pregnancies just happen in a manner of speaking, but his parents went into specific detail about how the contraception failed, how could that be of benefit to anyone besides weighing on them in their darkest hour.

Excuse the tardy response I was busy.

It might be an honest answer but it's unlikely to be a useful answer because sex and relationships permeate our society and are the foundations of almost every living creature.

Your assessment on how society overemphasizes certain things and how he devalued all the advantages he had just from coming from a wealthy family among other things (heck he couldn't have had various victims in his apartment if he didn't have any social capital) is well reasoned.

Skimming some of his rants it's clear he couldn't appreicate various advantages he had because inability to have sex and relationship and not seeing women as human beings.

Through that skimming I have to agree with your earlier assertion there are wider issues at hand.

For instance he makes a point about sex being evil and barbaric and he fully acknowledges that because he can't have it no one should have it. I'm sure people have made illogical leap of conclusions like this just like how too many people think they will win the lottery. The difference between him and everyone else is that these thoughts are fleeting but for whatever reason he retained and maintained such judgements even when he was proven wrong on certain things.

I believe at this point looking at influential factors like society or upbringing may have been secondary to a serious brain defect and one that has yet to be adequately accounted for by doctors.

As for your remaining points, I get where you are going with the idea of social constructs now.

There is a high chance I'm wrong about the brain damage. Regardless since he went as far as to kill people for his problems I think multiple approaches would have to be tried.

Regarding your point about sex not helping him I would have to point out there are actual health benefits to having sex including reducing stress and lowering blood pressure. (http://www.webmd.com/sex-relationships/guide/sex-and-health?page=2) This shouldn't be surprising considering how sex involves releasing the same brain chemicals we release when using various drugs to reach ecstacy.

Interacting with another human being at such an intimate level can do a lot for your mental well being but that method usually isn't an option. In fact this is the same guy who declared his female therapist a prostitute because he was exchanging cash for time to talk with her *exasperated*. When you have some that divorced from reality his problems run deeper than just his failures to interact with women beyond friendship.

He had constructed for himself as some sort of ubermensch and reality told him no and he couldn't that.

I don't deny having sex doesn't help the body. But I am talking in relation to how he ended up conceptualizing it. What if he really twisted having sex to be such a profound experience that the real thing seemed hollow? It would perhaps do very little for him. He focused on vocations with the endgame literally being losing his virginity for starters, so you have evidence he put it up there as a holy grail, as we typically propose to young teenagers. But he only kept it propped up, and perhaps held higher than most people would ever hold it. Except maybe the banned guy who thought oral sex would make the world a better place.

The problem here is not what relationships or sex could actually offer him, but he took the concepts of what they were to such an extreme that the real thing would not satiate his desire. Like a man who continues to accumulate money, constantly feeling he never has enough. You could give him enough that any reasonable man may have and he's still feel poor as fuck. Ideas can be enlightening and absolutely dangerous, and the latter happens when ideas, concepts, thoughts of what ought to be and what must be are taken way too seriously. Reading more of his manifesto, there's little bits of practically every social norm that one "must" have somewhere in there; besides relationships, he talks about the need for fame and the need for fortune, and that last one is the biggest offender for most people's suffering in life. He also spoke about how he was "above" people and particular things, bringing the social concept of superiority into the fray, which also played a role in his deranged thinking.

Perhaps he really had development issues, confusing ideas and stereotypes for objective reality. Most people have some level to see the illusion of much of that, but he seemed absolutely incapable of seeing any of it. The falsehoods he saw were his delusions, particularly about women.

This entire episode is the result of actions of a mentally unhinged person.

That really is all that needs to be said. It's just scary how many people are probably just as unhinged or more.

Speaking of, I'm gonna go play some BF4 on PC.
Mind numbing shooty-bangs are in order.

The Misogyny aspect is so strong here I don't think it would be necessary to use gaming as a scapegoat. The again, the news does have a way of disappointing me in cases like this.

I mean I think we all knew that from the beginning but the lottery thing really brought it home for me. There was no reaching this guy, he was in his own world. It will take a whole team of psychiatrists to evaluate him and truly figure out what exactly he was suffering from. As our understanding of the brain and mental disorders continues to evolve we will get a better handle on guys like this. We really need to invest more in research.

This is motherfucking cartoon villainy.

Typical of people who think western media depictions of life are normal and expected. If they don't have the happy perfect life depicted in advertising they feel like a failure. If they externalise you get this shit.

It's almost like the male version (or just general version) of women destroying themselves reaching for the false body images portrayed in magazines.
