I want this to be one of those shows that sticks around for awhile. I really like it and 8 episodes it merely a taste of goodness.

Agreed.

Also, I hope it's not an Anthology series. As much as I like that format, I'd love to see at least one of those amazing casts for these new series stick around

Really wish this wasn't on showtime, will most likely have to wait until amazon gets it so I can buy it. I really liked the first episode, but only got to watch it because showtime was free on direct tv for the premiere.

Is this good?

Not really, no. But it was On Demand a week early so that might be why it's so low. They're not putting Episode 3 up on demand early, so it'll be interesting to see if ratings go up significantly next week (although because it's Memorial Day, we might have to wait until episode 4 to get a better sample). I don't think the show is in any danger though. It's Showtime's youngest skewing show since Dexter and it's been well received by critics and fans alike.

I'm pretty sure it's not.

Understanding her wasn't hard at all. Though I guess season after season of Kelly from Misfits gives you the super power of understanding all kinds of weird accents.

Misfits, Doctor Who, Luther, and Sherlock here, but I still couldn't discern a real UK originated accent from a fake one. Either way though, I guess all that made it easier to under her dialogue in this show.

I got confused during the seance due to mixing up everyone's names. Was it implying that Timothy Dalton had sex with his daughter? Or his daughter watched him have sex with someone else (Eva Green)?

I don't think anyone knows at this point. Hopefully they'll expand on it in the future.

Finally got a chance to see the second episode. Don't know if I liked it overall as much as the 1st but still. Dat ending! Didn't see that shit coming at all. The possession scene was pretty nuts too. Also, Timothy Dalton is so fucking perfect in this. I feel like he should be in way more stuff.

Started this last night, great first episode, about to watch episode 2 but....

Will there be
werewolves? Because werewolves > vampires since I was 4 and saw abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein

Speculation!

The Serial Killer is a Werewolf

They kind of spoiled that in the second trailer. And there's a huge goddamn throwaway line in Episode Tew that pretty much confirms that theory.

You need to pause the video to actually see it, but it's not a blink and you'll miss it thing, either. It's Josh Hartnet's character

Second episode was pretty weak compared to the first, IMO. Hopefully things pick up. It is a short season. Really like the premise and want to see this continue for a few seasons at least.

This show has the correct recipe and cast to be awesome, I hope it picks up the viewers.
Eva Green killed it in the seance scene, her and Dalton play really well off of each other.

First I would like to say I really like this show. Dalton is kicking ass at all points and I am just happy he is around. Frankenstein is also working his ass off as well. The ending to eps 2 was just god damn amazing. Makes me really just want a show with Frankenstein and his brood.

God damn this show is really good. Eva Green and her bug out eyes are creeping me out. What a performance. Are we going to see
Dracula, the invisible man and werewolves?

Yeah, very good episode overall just for that aspect. They did a great job providing the Frankenstein backstory, and the monster's eloquence (Caliban now, I guess?) was an unexpected treat. There really wasn't much else to the episode though. How long was it, like 43 minutes or something? I missed the first ten minutes or so and stuck around after to check it out on the replay, and there was at least 15 minutes of commercials before the hour topped out. It felt like they dragged out both the wolf scene and the sex scene because they were starved for content.

Maybe trying to find a compromise between skipping a new episode over the holiday weekend and having people fall behind as they would if it were a "regular" episode?

Another great episode. The backstory to The Monster was really well done and I felt like the London Zoo stuff was great as well. So far every episode has made me really want to see the next. Absolutely love the tone and pacing.

Speculation
I think it's pretty much a given now that Ethan is a Werewolf. I also get the feeling that the creature they're seeking will be Dracula himself.

Yes they are seeking
Dracula cause Mina's husband's name is Jonathon Harkin, so Mina is that Mina.

Also more Dorian Grey next week. Yay.

Just wondering if the hematologist is Hellsing. And if we are getting Jekyll/Invisible man as well.

Great episode. Calling the Monster Caliban was a nice touch. Making him eloquent much like the monster from the books was equally amazing. I particularly liked the comment about him being a sign of Modernity. This show has been really well-researched.

In the book Dracula, Renfield is a lunatic who serves Dracula, so yes, they are hunting Dracula

Ah ok. I'm not well versed at all with the classic literature which birthed these characters so it's new to me. Though, I don't recall a Renfield being mentioned in the show.. was that something I missed?

Fantastic episode! Loved the backstory to the Monster, now going as
Caliban
. Really enjoyed the characterization they provided him.

Calling it now that Victor will end up using Brona to create Caliban's "bride" (immortal mate).
The stars seem to align for that eventuality, what with them once again showing us her deepening sickness amidst all this backstory for
Caliban
and his desire for love.

Also pretty sure
Ethan is a werewolf
. Fucking sweet. Oh, do we know who is going to be cast as
Dracula
yet?

Lol.
He gave his name as Fenton, so maybe he's not THE Renfield, but in the books Renfield wanted to grow his strength by eating Animals, so the parallel is till there.

Ahhh gotcha. You guys are making me want to read the original novels but I don't think I'd realistically be able to before this season is over. I guess I'll put it on my to-do list.

Team Dread assemble!

I thought frankenstein's monster is also phantom of the opera

Great episode. I really like Harnett's character is more than a gun slinger
