The Order: 1886 screenshots

Is MP definitely confirmed NOT to be there for the final game?

I remember reading in an interview that they weren't willing to talk about MP yet, not that it was confirmed to be SP only...

If this title is getting a delay, I think it's a mistake to neglect an MP portion. Seems like a perfect fit for it, honestly.

Yeah the Andrea guy said it was single player only, unfortunately.

I hope there is a multiplayer mode. Remember when everyone did not want TLOU to have multiplayer, but I was excited about it. Look how it turned out: TLOU MP is better than Uncharted MP and better than most of TPS games MP.

There isn't.

Nah. It is looking to the left, which is interesting, since it isn't facing Galahad and Igraine. Right hand is just chilling while the left is hyper active.

The press seems to have played the exact sequence shown last year to GI magazine. Here's how it unfolds:

1) Infiltration. We have already seen this portion a couple of months go. The monocular, the shootout throughout the alleyway, melee attacks, combo gun and thermite rifle discovery

2) Meet up with Igraine, use thermite rifle for the first time (it plays like a tutorial section) and drag constable into safe location

3) Push forward to seemingly abandoned royal hospital. Werewolves come pouring in and Galahad calls air support

We haven't seen (3) but GI has and they have described it already. Which is why i think it's unlikely that it would be the E3 demo (the sequence is 8 months old and wouldn't have the wow factor since it is already known how it pans out). I think (and hope) we will see (3) tomorrow. E3 needs to be something no one has seen yet, including the press.

Cool. Thanks!

Agreed. It's an odd omission to begin with. No MP =/= better campaign.

That's interesting, it seems they added some form of taa in addition to 4xmsaa. Impressive

Can't wait for tomorrow! I can barely notice any aliasing in the new video, but then, I can barely notice anything in that video. Hopefully the rumored HQ video is truly HQ.

Most shots look flawless already, but there is quite a bit of aliasing in motion (especially the E3 reveal trailer). Temporal AA is exactly what this game needs.

Seems like a wasted opportunity. Oh well. The SP better be unbelievably fantastic and 15-20 hours in length.
It likely won't be, nor is there a reason it should be. Linear games often overstay their welcome. The Last of Us is the exception and even that padded out Summer for way too long. I'm fine with 10-12 hours of good content.
Unless you mean you are personally fine with cinematic story driven games lasting that long and you think having no MP or a longass campaign is hurting the game's sales potential, then I would probably agree with you.

You're assuming Ready At Dawn has the manpower and time to do both. Their goal, since the beginning of The Order's development, has been to create a memorable cinematic experience. MP beggars are wasting their time.

February isn't too bad. I can deal with that.

The Order 1886 Probably Using Temporal Anti-Aliasing; Dev: “You’re Just Imagining a Downgrade”

I figured they would do something like that. They had a slide in an old tech presentation that said they were trying to get rid of shader aliasing on top of the MSAA passes.

Sony's 1st/2nd party has been a complete disaster over the last year outside TLOU if that delay gets confirmed. Too many of their games are being delayed or are reviewing poorly.

Wouldn't be surprised if this means they turn MSAA down to 2 while adding the temporal bit to make sure they hit solid 30 FPS.

or reviewing poorly.
Not sure how that's a problem when the games still sell well enough and enough people like them. Personally speaking I welcome more divisive AAA games with more divisive reviews. Universal acclaim is rather boring to me these days. Unless the games are completely broken of course and unpolished. But I don't think any Sony game in 2013 or 2014 falls into that category.

Yes how dare they spend more time on their games.

I mean why not release a unfinished game and patch it later?

Delaying stuff is probably a direct response to poor reviews of other games.

No, I'm making a general statement about game development. No MP =/= a better campaign.

And yeah, delay is real. News is coming tomorrow, when the embargo is up.

All these delays are leaving my quite concerned. That said I was actually looking forward to another first party effort this fall, hell at any other point this year, other than DriveClub so that's unfortunate.

Houston, we have a problem.

If this is true that has to be something else that we are not seeing for the second half of 2014, Driveclub ain't going cut it, not even close.

Sadly, they probably won't even care, Destiny, COD, and Batman are gonna sell them consoles this holiday.

Don't think there is any amount of polish that would have significantly improved the metascore of Infamous, Killzone, Knack, rain, Puppeteer, Ascension or Beyond. Those games are what they are and enough people liked them. The Order and DriveClub were likely in a poor state and were delayed accordingly. Don't think there is any relation to the performance of other titles.

Colin moriarty vindicated? I still think the way he went out with such speculation was unprofessional, but at least he knew what he was talking about.

If true, February isn't too bad of a delay. But I agree with people saying Sony needs something for November. Hope E3 brings good news.

If Sony Studios were being managed competently they wouldn't be in a situation where they would have to choose between being a poor game or delaying. I know that point was pretty easy to see so I don't know why you seem to be purposely being obtuse about it Loudninja.
