The Order: 1886 Delayed Into 2015. [Stop talking about MS lineup]

So Sony's only 1st party game in 2014 is Drive Club? Yikes.
Strictly speaking for the end of the year, it's looking just like DC and remasters for SCE. Another game could really help them out and strengthen that lineup. If not it's hard not to call it a pretty sparse first year.

TBH it's not like the competition has much more, but it's still disappointing.

Let's be frank. The real reason why it's delayed is so they can watch the first season of Penny Dreadful which is like a Showtime TV series version of The Order: 1886

Im perfectly fine since Fall will be packed with multis and ill be occupied with Sunset overdrive and Halo 2 Ani if the rumours are true when I get an Xbone this year. I think it will be well worth the wait for this game.

It's kind of hilarious to remember back to last year when insiders were claiming that Microsoft was "6 months behind on their software". lol
And how were they wrong, exactly?

Forza 5, Killer Instinct, Ryse...these were all 360 games bumped over to the XBO. Same from Crimson Dragon. TitanFall is a 3rd party exclusive, not 1st-party. Sunset Overdrive is a 3rd-party exclusive, not 1st-party. Forza Horizon 2 may or may not be coming out this year. Halo AE is a remaster much like TLOU; not a new game, just a port. And just like Sony indie games such as Resogun and Hohokum, stuff like Plants vs. Zombies Warfare doesn't get counted for whatever reason, so they're mute.

Those rumors were true, Sony already has 3 major 1st party exclusives on their system compared to MS's 2. On the surface MS looks in better shape but that's almost entirely thanks to moneyhats; not that I'm shaming them for it (typical business practice), but beneath the surface their 1st party output has actually been slower than Sony's.

Not to start a console war or derail the thread or anything, but I feel like my Wii U purchase is more and more being vindicated with this sort of news. At this rate it'll be 2015 at the earliest before I see any games on the other systems that actually get me interested in purchasing either one, unless there's some big stuff at E3 for this holiday (which is totally possible, mind you). Wii U had it's poor start up too, but now I'll be playing Smash Bros. and Mario Kart while my brothers with the other consoles will be praying the PS+/games with gold games are worth a damn.

The game does look interesting though, and I loved Ready at Dawns smaller games on the PSP, so hopefully this pans out for them.

I seriously don't mind the delay, take your time make it the best you can.

My pre order is sitting and waiting to be turned into one of the best looking games I've ever seen.

Welp... It's really starting to look like no PS4 until 2015 for me. Lily Bergamo or Batman, or some other surprise game might force my hand this year though. We'll see.

So between inFamous (march) and The Order (october) theres nothing else? (1st party related)
The most I think about it, more surprised I am... thats a huge gap!

So ur bro is playing Watch Dogs while u r playing Mario Kart this summer, and ur bro will be playing Batman Arkham Knight and Destiny while u play Smash Bros this fall. I think he gets the better end of the deal.

PS4 has third party support. I know as a Wii U fan it's easy to forget that third parties exist, but they do, and they are releasing a ton of games this Fall.

With all of these delays and third party publishers taking their sweet ass time going next gen only I still see no rush to buy this or the Xbox One. My PC is still holding up well too.

I expect Sony to have a good E3 but will once again question when those games will actually come out. Here I thought with the PS4 being so much better for game developers we wouldn't be seeing so many delays. Boy was I wrong.

2014:

inFamous
MLB 14
The Last of Us
DriveClub

Kinect Sports Rivals
Sunset Overdrive

That's all confirmed, other discussions after E3, please.

Until all 2015 titles get delayed to 2016.

Hey, I didn't want to be too negative. If more **** gets delayed, then there is something wrong with Sony. 2015 can be impressive, but that doesn't take from the fact that 2014 has and will probably be terrible for the PS4. At least the PS3 is chugging out great games still.

Don't you dare go there. Third parties don't exist here and games are only enjoyable when people who have another platform of choice can't play them.

Well, TLOU remaster, Helldiver, Hohokum all listed summer, all first party.
I don't think any first party can release a retail game every month, but that's pretty good for me.

Haha. Tell me about it. I'm good in regards to the PS4 lineup this year. Just hope they pad the summer with more indies to get me by.

See, if we twist something this way, and we don't count these things because reasons, and we don't count this other thing because you know, we arrive at things being completely different from how they really are.

Yeah I dont have a problem with this. While I am looking forward to The Order I'd rather play a finished game in 2015 rather than a rushed product in 2014. :P

Not in the slightest. This:

is the real reason. Exclusives are going away as the "end all, be all" to console gaming. The number one best sellers this holiday season are going to be multiplats, which for this generation will be better and advertised more so by Sony (AC, Destiny, etc.). Hardcore gamers will lament over this, but in reality, this amounts to a fart in the wind for casual gamers looking t hp on board the next gen train. Still won't stop the insane hyperbole in this thread though.

I get that, but still, those exclusives helped diversify the system's library, and even tho PS3 never caught up in NA, it still caught up worldwide. And outside of NA and UK, I don't think franchises like COD and GTA have massive appeal; they don't sell gangbusters in Japan for example. So it had to come down to other games, like w/ Japan for instance, even if some RPGs were on 360, that console performed like shit there so they were virtual exclusives to the PS3 and did a big part to help the system out.

I agree, exclusives aren't the end-all, be-all game anymore, not even close. But I wouldn't say having the better multiplats will in and of itself sustain PS4 with big numbers for the whole gen, especially when it's only a handful of franchises with that mainstream appeal and especially worldwide. 360 had all that and still got beat WW after all ;)

See, if we twist something this way, and we don't count these things because reasons, and we don't count this other thing because you know, we arrive at things being completely different from how they really are.
Whatever I discounted on MS's side I discounted on Sony's as well, but the point still stands. That rumor was about MS 1st-party development for XBO and we all know that, not 3rd-party moneyhats and not 360 games moved to the new system. From that basis, the rumor is true.

And I forgot MLB '14, so that's actually 4 for Sony vs 2 for MS. If you want to count the 3rd-party exclusives the picture looks much different, but that's not what the rumor was on about.

Sony giving me much needed time to tackle my backlog. Since I only want a PS4 for exclusives it's looking more and more like I can delay my purchase until next year without missing out on much. Might as well wait for a price drop.

Yup. I'll be playing a lot of Wii U and a lot of PC. PS3, PS4, 3DS, Vita look like they'll be collecting dust this year.

For Sony's sake, there had better be a few new game announcements at E3 for release this year. It's looking bare, though the same could be said for all the platform holders. 2014 is the Year of Luigi the Third-Party.

We can react to this news negatively now, but doing so without the context of the E3 reveals has limited value. I'll delay my judgement until June 10th.

I knew something was funny about releasing footage on a Friday randomly before the holiday weekend. They should have just announced the delay Friday and all would be forgotten comes Tuesday ;)
