Gamespot rumor: Big third-party Xbox One exclusive at E3

So is it a 'third party exclusive' being revealed, or is it an exclusive reveal of a third party title? (Which isn't exclusive to One)
Is there any clarification on the quote in the OP?

i believe that if you're discussing what is a first-party game, you're actually discussing the holder of the intellectual property.
Except that doesn't seem to be what anyone else is discussing.
people are free to believe whatever they want, if they believe development funds have a purpose in deciding what a game is to them, but that doesn't mean they're right in a real-world sense.
It's a semantic discussion about the use of the term in the vernacular, in which I don't think there is any real "right." As posted in the thread, the former CVP of Microsoft Game Studios and now Head of Xbox, considers first party to be defined by who publishes the title in question.

I'm assuming it's only become a topic of discussion in trying to interpret what exactly Gamespot means. Is it likely they're referring to IP rights? Or is it more likely they're referring to the game in question either being (1) developed by an external studio and/or (2) published by an external publisher, regardless of IP rights.

I'm going to guess Resident Evil 7 as well. Exclusive or not I hope the next RE is closer to RE4 or even set in another century like The Order.

GTAV, Mass Effect and RE7.

Nah those games are too big to go exclusive. I reckon it's a medium sized AAA developer, it could very well be a Platinum game, the rumor was there a couple months ago and recent news is that MS has some Japanese games to show soon. Platinum is also not afraid of making new IP's and going exclusive.

What happened to the xbox one, reminds me of the xbox1 days, where at the beginning they only had Halo, oddworld and dead or alive 3 and then after a year they announced a lot of multi stuff at E3 with Metal gear substance, silent hill 2, genma onimusha.

This is Microsoft at its best, thinking that the whole gaming world think they are already defeated, they change the course by announcing all this great stuff and participate back in the game.

MS is only one can do that. GTA, Mass Effect and RE7, mark my word.

If its Shenmue 3, do you reckon that they will also have to HD remake Shenmue 1 and 2?

There are a lot of people who have never heard of Shenmue, (I've heard of it but never played it) and seeing as its heavily story driven it would alienate a huge amount of potential buyers if they just released Shenmue 3.

So, my bet is that if it is Shenmue then its the whole set in one go.

Wouldn't a Platinum game probably be published by MS?

When I think 'big third party game', I think of a 'big' game from EA or Activision or Take 2 or Ubi...

Third-party exclusive?!
Hey, it's MS! I expect them to have moneyhatted at least an exclusive from every third-party publisher out there!

Doubt it's any major IP. PS4 is far too successful to ignore.

Devils Third
Platinum game

Devil's Third is already confirmed by Spencer that it's not an Xbone exclusive...hopefully we'll see the title at E3 though.

I'd love to see Vanquish 2 from Platinum, Vanqush was such an amazing game. <3

Sigh, here we go again. As long as it is not Fallout 4, Witcher 3 and GTAV, I couldn't care less about the rest. Dino Crisis, RE, any game from Platinum, Crytek, wouldn't rustle my jimmies.

guys lets be realistic it's not going be any game that would sell well regardless, it's going be a company who needs funding

Why would GTV or RE be exclusive?
doesn't make sense.

I can see ME maybe being exclusive because it started on Xbox. But even that it's not smart for either EA or MS.

EA will lose the sales on other platforms and MS have to pay alot to compensate those sales. So it wouldn't make sense at all.

Maybe its a third party IP that MS founded to revive.
Or third party that needed founding.

Uuugghhh desperate MS throwing tons of money out there to differentiate themselves with more exclusive titles: Shocking News.

This is also unfortunate for broke gamers, but....

I can't imagine how much money Microsoft would have to pay to get GTA 6 as an exclusive. Didn't they pay $50 million for just timed exclusivity for GTA 4 DLC?

So I guess you were at that table when the deal was finalized?

We don't know nothing about that game, nor if the rumor is really real either.

Those throwing money scenarios is really getting old bro.

oh god they're really announcing Mario Kart

So everybody is excited for the new Mario Kart, eh? Guess what, we bought Nintendo just in time and now you're going to have to play it exclusively on Xbox One.
Nintendo asked us to tell you....eh wait *looks at cue card*..."Please understand"

I would welcome this, because I wouldn't have to buy a Wii U.
