So the twitter personalities seem to be hinting at Homefront 2 with their vague tweets that don't compromise them one bit.

Typical.
Really? That is a huge letdown if true. I can't think of anyone that would be excited for another modern combat shooter.

That would be almost as bad as Sony picking up Haze!

It'd be absolutely hilarious if it was Shenmue 3 just to see how many people meltdown from it being an Xbone exclusive.

I would pray for a PC port, because I seriously can not afford an Xbox One for one game.

Timed exclusive ehh?

Had a lot of this as a PS3 owner last generation. It's annoyingly effective. By the time it comes out on another platform, people would already be tired of it and move on to other games. An easy way to establish a platform of choice.

It is embarrassing the how people are trying to change the definition of first party to make ms sound like it has or owns more first party games. Even gears was 3rd party up until they bought the IP last month.

Has nobody picked Devil's Third? That seems the obvious candidate as it still doesn't have a publisher and is supposed to be out in 2014. Game looked like a dog's breakfast last time I saw it, but a lot can happen in a year or so.

Devil’s Third

Last time we heard from creator Tomonobu Itagaki, he said Valhalla Game Studios intended to release Devil’s Third independently in 2014. What we don’t know is who’s paying for it. Bilson does know, but wasn’t telling.

“I know a whole lot about it. It’s funny because that one there’s gonna be an announcement about soon. I don’t wanna spoil information but I can say I’m very close to Itagaki, and I’m very, very aware of Devil’s Third.

After seeing that, I was thinking the same. Itagaki does love Microsoft.

Gears was 2nd party. MS published and funded.

Phil spencer already said they didn't pick up devils third.

Also, perhaps it's that rabbids game from last e3 that ubisoft announced for Xbox one? I'm pretty sure it's a game anyway

When did he say that? I'm not doing an internet denial thing here, just wondering if you have a source.

yup.

First party: Ownership of the studio, ownership of the IP, funding and publishing all lie with the console maker.

second party: Ownership of the IP, marketing, publishing and funding all lie with the console maker. The studio is independant.

third party: The studio is independant and holds ownership of the IP. The publisher takes care of funding and marketing and ultimately decides what the target platforms.

I doubt one of their big exclusive highlights will be HomeFront 2. I just can't believe they would take away E3 time from Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break for it.

A timed exclusive in 2015? Userbase difference could be huge by then in favour of the PS4.

Wasn't the 360 at sales of 7-8 million at PS3 launch? financing these new deals must be costly for MS.

Lol homefront 2?

That's why I hate these "big" news kind of things, ain't nobody got time for that

I played homefront and while it was decent it was quickly replaced

I just dont know what it can be.

Dragons Dogma 2 seems too small to be worth buying. Too Niche.

I think it has to be something big. Something people say was imposable for them to get as a exclusive. Something that would actually be seen as a bit of a game changer and get people pissed off.

RE7 has bounced around and I guess that might fit but the way leaks normally work are we get very few from Japan so I guess since a lot of people sound like they know what it is I think its a western IP.

Moneyhatting or not, if a big corporation like MS wants to throw lots of money in to this somewhat struggling industry, then it's no bad thing. A publisher is only going to agree to it if it's a profitable decision.

Good poinrlt. Though I would like to know how the industry is struggling. I hear it all the time.

Somewhat struggling? I thought it has been growing every year since a lot of years ago. Please remember we're in a generation transition and that stuff like NPD doesn't check downloadable games, DLC, mobile, browser games, etc.
