I loved the first two Souls games. I seriously did. But this looks just bad. A fucking gun? Nah. I will not buy this game. What a sell out, From. What a sell out.

Franck

Started the souls series with ds2 and absolute love it, I dont typically like to go back to prior versions of games because you tend to lose features the sequels have/better balancing. With this being said is it worth going back to dark souls 1 after comkpleting 2?

Oh man, I remember from software during years 2000-2003. No game of them got many threads on gamingage/neogaf. Lost Kingdoms, Otogi, Kings Field, Evergrace only got half a page and look at them now, they are on the front page on GAF being discussed by everyone. Man if you told me that back in 2000, I would never believed you. Congratz From Software, you are the new Squaresoft in terms of japanese developer that everyone is hyping up. One day you will be Square Enix sadly.

;_;

This will single handedly make me purchase a PS4, without question.

Souls is my favorite series and with daddy Miyazaki at the helm, my hype levels are astronomical.

I really hope there are no shields and no health bars. A Victorian, Val Helsing esque Souls makes me about as giddy as I could possibly be.

We all ditch the shields in favor of roll superiority eventually anyway, so a game built around no shields would be incredible.

Also, keep the damage numbers so we can see weapon strength, but ditch the health bars ala Monster Hunter. It makes you play on your toes and you never get sloppy, because you don't if it's the middle of the battle or the final hit.

Demon's and Dark Souls are better games in almost every way except online play.

Guns have been around for centuries man, they are not a 20th century invention. You can still do dark fantasy with a flinklock. I highy doubt there will be an m4 in the game.

I swear you've mentioned TLG dead several times in the last two weeks or so.

You know something but aren't letting on... E3 2014 reveal. HYPE!

THIS. There is only so many times it can be brought up when not even being talked about. I'm thinking this is hinting.

Yes, indeed. The world design for Dark Souls 1 is significantly different, as it's far more interconnected than the more route-like design of its sequel. It's also got a different, far more oppressive atmosphere (though not nearly as despairing as Demon's Souls), and certain overriding gameplay aspects works a bit differently.

PS4 exclusive.

Ah, yes I've gathered that now. Thats cool! I've been kinda tuned out to this game but I did watch the video. Looks really great, and Vaati's dissection was also interesting. The return of Ragdolls is nice, and the weapon that extended outward looked really brutal and intimidating. I'm a gigantic DarkSouls fan but still have yet to play DS2.. that 2 minutes of footage from this already looks way more interesting than DS2 ever did.

Thought Demon's Souls had quite some flaws, Dark Souls was overall a little better but still didn't absolutely love it, and I haven't played Dark Souls II yet. But damn this looks mighty fine, looks smooth as well. Hopefully this one has some stable frame-rate, because its predecessors didn't always have that unfortunately.

So, are there rumours yet as to how this one is going to be called? Demon's Souls 2, Beast Souls?
Considering its a From Software game I'll bet my saving that it will not run very smooth. They've had 3 attempts and it only works when you get it on a decent PC rig. Xbone and PS4 are great, but 60 fps is just not going to happen if you ask me.

It would be a mess to name it Demon's Souls 2 as we already have two Dark Souls games. It doesn't look very Demon's Souls like. I'm going for something that includes "Beast". And given that it will be a Souls game, "Beast Souls" would be quite fitting. Of course, Dark Souls 3 is possible but the art looks too much of a departure in comparison.

Absolutely yes. The first Dark Souls is still one of the best games of last generation and doesn't lag behind the second one in the slightest. You will appreciate the bigger amount of polish that went into the first game.

Only the netcode is inferior, but the game is so good it will outshadow that problem.

O.o

I'm sure shotguns are just as much a requirement as Greatswords were to the other Souls games.

I hate Greatswords.

Yes. Same with Demon's Souls if you have a PS3. All three are amazing despite large differences in structure.

Dark Souls needs the DLC if you're playing on consoles; Artorias of the Abyss is amazing.

Dude have a little faith and embrace them for trying something new instead of more of the same

I welcome the new ideas with open arms

New? LAWL! They are just conforming to the CoD crowd adding fucking guns, bro.
Shameful antics right here. FROM has been officially corrupted by the West.

It's over.

Dark Souls 2 in terms of environment design feels more like Demon's Souls, while Dark Souls 1 is designed more like an open world game. Granted, the world isn't as open as something like Skyrim, but the game allows multiple paths and exploration, and isn't quite so Point A -> Point B. Demon's Souls probably has the best story while Dark Souls 1 probably has the best worldbuilding. I like to call Dark Souls 1 what an action-adventure videogame would look like if it also had archaeology in it.

I cried when I finished Dark Souls 2. I cried because it was so good. And now they are letting me down. I guess that's that. I hope you guys enjoy the game. I'm out though.

Yours,

Franck

I think the differences help keep them fresh and distinct!

Looks like the same idea is in play here.

Maybe thats why Souls Fatigue hasn't struck quite yet though Dark Souls 2 was a weary and long ass game

What...what's bad about guns?
Honestly, I feel like guns would just make Souls games harder. I mean where the hell do you shoot? The eyeballs? The tip of the tail? Most of the enemies don't even have eyes, or too many of them, and I'm pretty sure your average Prowling demon can't tell the difference between a bullet and a fleabite. Also, I can see them using the reload time to screw you over as often as possible. I think sending the Souls universe a bit farther into its own timeline is a cool concept.

Speculation is that it'll be called Bloodborne, as Sony recently filed a trademark for that title and demonite had it briefly included in a list of his most looked forward to games.

But I dislike that as a main title, and have grown quite attached to the Demon's Souls IP. I hope it's a subtitle.

Demon's Souls: Bloodborne sounds nice, and it gets the point across that it's not a direct sequel.
