Wtf happened to this thread?

I for one would be slighly dissapointed if this was anything other than a PS4 exclusive. No need to be hamstrung by those weaker systems.

PS4 FromSoft Exclusive. Praise the sun.

PC master race would like to have a word with you.

guess it's time to buy a PS4.

"Microsoft can easily buy Sony."

Yeah... "easily" as long as MS can convince it's shareholders to buy Sony for what would surely be as big or bigger than all their previous acquisitions combined. Totes easy.

Man these webms must be good to see such huge reaction. Still cannot spoil, must stay strong.

This is the reason I bought a ps4, above all else.

The only thing they spoiled was my underwear :P

The thing I want most is the least tangible thing imaginable, for them to reclaim the 'Souls feeling' which was lacking in DS2 imo, and I can't even put my finger on how it was missing'

Just look at their financials if you don't believe me. They are publicly available.

I wonder what the ranges on shotguns will be... I wish I could see some lifebars. Seeing a lot of Solomon Kane references, but what about Van Hellsing?

In 2012 They were valued at over 80 billion. It seems like you think stocks determine price and nothing else.

Souls games are million sellers. A current gen Souls game when people are thirsty for current gen exclusives? You can bet this might be a system seller.
I want to buy a PS4 RIGHT NOW just because of this game, even though it hasn't even been confirmed 100% exclusive for PS4 (we all know it is though).

Sony would commit seppuku before letting Microsoft buy them.
*dead*

Mmmm... maybe. The Souls series is in that kind of odd territory between being huge like a Call of Duty or Madden and being an indie title. It's a AA title? We'll see how E3 pans out.

Love how you said "You can bet this might be a system seller." ;)

However I do not disagree with you or anybody - some people will go out and buy the console for this game, but will Sony look over the sales data and go:"DAT SOULS BUMP!"? - I highly doubt that.

Nope, son. I said The Order has to convince me I will not praise it for its terrible PR but if the reviews show the game to be awesome then I'm in. I do lovethe setting but right now how anyone from gaf can be hyped by just that is beyond me, the game is giving off major vibes of becoming this gens Lair or Ryse. But we gotta stick it to MS with the list count. lol.

Major vibes from all 300 total seconds we've seen of it in playable form.

Hyperbole abound. I'd wait for some hands on with a beta next year before writing it off. The only thing we really can judge is the graphics at this point in time (and this being GAF that enough for some people)

Yeah - must be almost a dozen!

Come on guys let´s not get stupid. This wont move enough consoles to be called a system seller.
That´s not a bad thing!

Think you're severely underestimating the Souls series and its pull on the hardcore crowd. We're already seeing PC gamers here who had no intention of getting a next gen console considering a PS4 just because of this game, how much of a bump in console sales this will translate to, who knows, but there will be a bump.

I think the game looks fun, I don't give a shit about the list count.

I think this game has the potential to sell more systems than Titanfall ever did. And it probably costed Sony much less than what MS paid to EA.

If it becomes this gen's Ryse, is that tactfully admitting Ryse is a last-gen calibur game?

B/c that's all sorts of a messed up argument.

No I mean Ryse too was hyped fort its setting and visuals but ended up being a boring/repetitive game going by reviews and gamer experience at large. God forbid if the game pulls a Knack, if Cerny can make an awful game then RAD is not safe since this is only their 3rd game and on PS4, that's a bar 100x higher than psp.

I think you are wrong. I will consider buying a PS4 for this if it's good enough. It's the first game yet that might get me to buy a current gen console. And I really don't think I'm alone in this. FROM has a following, a well deserved one I might add.

Folks on NeoGAF or indeed any message board are a very small sample of a very specific group of people. I don't think this'll be a "system seller" in the proper sense of the term, like Halo or Final Fantasy used to be.

Yes I know they are publically available which is why I wonder why you think this. HAve you actually read them? Sony may have been making losses for a while now but there is a great deal more to their balance sheet than that. This is something people seem to forget when they are: "Sony is broke haw haw haw!!"

Nevermind that one company buying another isn't as simple as Bill Gates adding it to his basket and clicking through to the check out.

Anyways I don't think we should detail the thread for this.

Well, it's harder to sell systems in general because you're competing against mobile now... League of Legends and Flappy Bird probably receive more mainstream attention than the Souls series. Which is... troubling.
Anyways I don't think we should derail the thread for this.
Agreed.

Oh boy, really liking what I see in that video. Curious about platforms, etc.

Woke up to another 30 pages of hype posts.. holy shit.

Is this the most talked about game pre-trailer ever?

I think Watch Dogs takes the cake for most talked about game in recent memory.. or at least most criticized. But the hype levels for Project Beast are seriously impressive.

Was it? i cannot remember this at all. Its setting is no where unique in video gaming. It isn't even a fictional creation like The Order.

I quite clearly remember the first revealing of this game got tonnes of flak for being basically an interactive movie in a setting that has been seen before, but pretty.

and that's where they should stay, just look at DaSII nerfs we got because of casuls

not a system seller, but it will make me buy a PS4 if this dosen't come out in pc or a downgraded version for ps3, won't buy a system for just a game if there is a ps3 option

There is a lot of unnecessary The Order hate in this thread, which has nothing to do with that game.

And, no, Microsoft could not buy Sony. Anyone who seriously thinks otherwise does not know anything about economics.

It makes sense. This will actually be an exclusive and the game is for the hardcore playerbase (people who are more likely to buy a console primary for one game).

Well I quite clearly remember people gushing over its visuals and the setting has only ever been used in RTS games, practically new on consoles. This was MS big launch game and hyped accordingly.

Anyway I don't want to derail this fine ass thread with talk of far lesser games. Lets all just agree to disagree about The Order. We'll see if its worthy at E3.

I really hope it looks this good when released. Trying not to get my hopes up like I did for Dark Souls II.

It's NamcoBandai, what makes you think the PC version would be better?

NB wasn't involved with Demon's Souls development, SCEJ was. NB only published it in Europe and Australia. Atlus published it in North America, while SCEJ handled Japan.

Thought Demon's Souls had quite some flaws, Dark Souls was overall a little better but still didn't absolutely love it, and I haven't played Dark Souls II yet. But damn this looks mighty fine, looks smooth as well. Hopefully this one has some stable frame-rate, because its predecessors didn't always have that unfortunately.

So, are there rumours yet as to how this one is going to be called? Demon's Souls 2, Beast Souls?

And there are really no other games out there like Souls.

Titanfall whether good or bad was just another one of very many FPS with some new systems thrown in.

Mobile games have a much wider net cast which encompasses people who would've never played video games or bought a console prior to the mobile explosion... and they probably never will buy a console. That demo probably accounts for the majority of mobile gamers.

Souls is still relatively niche compared to your GTAs and your CoDs. I'm sure the "hardcore" would by a console for it, but that's a smaller sub-section of a niche group who would've probably jumped into the current gen at some point anyway. I think claiming it's a system seller based soley on the reaction GAF has had to it is a little... I dunno, premature?
