Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Is it true that 3rd party characters are confirmed to be shown at E3? Not that Pacman is anything but a playable character but I just read this a few pages back, Source?

I think heath was joking that since today's picture mentioned E3 AND there were 2 3rd party characters in it that it confirmed 3rd party for E3.

Sorry. I was just being hyperbole joking about it since people like to over-speculated everything.

That would be awesome! My vote would be for the Wily Marine Base from Mega Man III for the epic music alone.

I would love to see the Wily Station & Wily Battleship from Mega Man IV, as both locations seem to be perfect backdrops for the 3DS version. Having that giant Wily War Machine firing missiles (along with Ballade coming in as a boss) would make it a memorable stage for me. I wouldn't mind if they did choose the Wily Marine Base, though. Heck, half the reason why I'm looking forward to SSBU & SSB3DS is the music, especially the remixes that will be included.

I like the looks of this stage already.

15 newcomers for E3

I'll bet my avatar for 100,000 years.

I know that's a joke, but could you honestly imagine if E3 was newcomer after newcomer after newcomer, and just when you thought they were done, there was another newcomer, and then another, and then another, all up until 15+ were shown.

I don't even know wtf i'd do.

But the newcomers
Are 7 koopa kids, 6 babies, metal mario & pink gold peach
.

Metal Mario in Smash would actually make sense though. Not as playable, but a mid-boss of some mode or level.

I disliked how Brawl made everyone able to be metal for the boss fight. Metal Mario is a Smash Staple boss!

Metal Mario is my most used character in MK8

Actually Melee made other characters metal too.
It was literally just 64 that did the Metal Mario thing.

Calling August at the latest. Nothing later.

I think we may get 3DS coverage this week too. If it's filler tomorrow, then this ain't the long awaited "E3 run up" screenshot week.

Only in SSB64. Pretty sure he also always was the Metal character in the first playthrough of Classic Mode in Melee, but that's it. In any other SSBM Classic Mode run you'll fight a random Metal Character.

Sakurai destroying our expectations in this pre-e3 wait. 2 weeks ago we get Ike, last week we get tourney info and gamecube adapter, this week we get a new stage. This is all stuff they could have announced as a huge 1-2 punch at E3, but clearly they think what they have at E3 is big enough that these things can be revealed ahead of time.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got one more piece of big info this week (that's not a newcomer).

I'm really doubting they're going to blow it out during E3 as much as you guys expect.

My hype is in check, so blow me away, Sakurai!

I'm still sticking with my July release prediction.

She should be the new face of Nintendo.
You may joke, but did you see the Australia edition of Mario Kart 8? (assuming this was real and I didn't fall for a photoshop or something)

I wish we had it in North America. If Rosalina turns out good, I would love to main her along with Peach and maybe Wii Fit Trainer.

I'll laugh if it's delayed to 2015. Nothing so far tells me the game is ready for a 2014 release.

Well we just never know with Sakurai lol. But I believe it will be this year as this year's E3 hypes Smash the most, so they gotta keep the momentum and strike while the iron is hot.

I'm expecting 2 newcomers and maybe 1-2 new vets. That will make me happy. If it's less than that, then i'll be disappointed.

The game is nearing release, and the tournament is one of their major E3 events. It's obviously a focus.

Exactly. We're likely getting a new trailer in the digital event. It's likely going to be demoed during the treehouse event. It's getting an entire 1-2 hour tournament. AND it's getting its own roundtable. There are 3 opportunities (i'm excluding the treehouse demo) for sakurai to reveal new information about the game. They could have left the gamecube adapter for the tournament, as a reveal there, but decided to reveal it for the tournament's trailer.

All they need to do is show off 1-2 newcomers and I think a lot of people will be pleased, though not super 'HYPE.'

I think to get really excited they'll need to do the following:
  • Show off 2+ newcomers
  • Show off 2+ long awaited vets (Metaknight, Mewtwo, Wario, Ness, Ice Climbers, Snake)
  • Show off 2+ new stages
  • Show off Wii U exclusive features
  • Release Date for 3DS
  • How connectivity between Wii U/3DS works and what it does.
  • Explain NFC if it's compatible w/ smash (or do nothing if it's not going to be for smash bros)

I don't think it's unrealistic for nintendo to do everything in that list, as well as maybe a few more surprises. I'm hoping for another blowout akin to the smash direct, only maybe w/ more focus on the Wii U version. Obviously less focus on stuff like pokeballs/assist trophies/items and more focus on the information we don't have or know little about.

Yeah, no way Smash 3DS come out by July. August at the absolute earliest, most likely late September.

I'm not sure why you'd think that, the 3DS version seems very complete in all the media so far. All of the images about "finishing polishing" or talking about last minute tweaks have all been the WiiU version. Every screenshot of the 3DS has seemed entirely complete.

I may have been joking...partly. But my god that is amazing. If real do want.

I don't think Ike and Mushroom Kingdom U would qualify as a "huge 1-2 punch" at E3. Most people outside of the hardcore Smash community (such as us) really wouldn't care about either of them very much. A veteran and a new stage are more appropriate for daily screenshot reveals.

E3-level reveals are things like newcomers, new trailers, modes, release dates, etc. You know, like the Smash stuff revealed at last year's E3 (minus modes and release dates, of course)!

I didn't mean just those two, but rather, bundling up a ton of little announcements (like veterans, new stages, controller adapter) followed by bigger announcements like a newcomer or 3rd party involvement. Like a roll of quarters in your fist, but the quarters are veteran and stage reveals.

Predictions huh?

3DS - August 22nd
Wii U - November 21st

My logic is Mario Kart came out on a Friday, so why not Smash as well?

Also, Mallo for Smash!
I kind of want this to be true due to the rage it would cause to Nintendo fanboys

We at least know there's going to be new DK and Kirby stages since the two of them got new musical arrangements in the Smash direct and they have to go somewhere.

You're going to take the new music over Jungle Japes/Battleship Halberd and you're going to like it :P

Seeing those MK8 weekend sales makes me interested to see if Smash U can match them, and if Smash 3DS will affect those sales (in a positive or negative way).
