Batman Arkham Knight delayed to 2015

Dammit. What a horrible first year for next-gen consoles, everything at E3 will probably be 2015 too. (Fuck any 2016 announcements)

Really is the gen of delays.

Shhh, just let him have his little victory.

Really shows how ready devs/pubs were for the new consoles.

It's disappointing given how developers and publishers were screaming for new hardware. Apparently, Ubisoft were the only ones actually ready for the transition.

Probably because we just game off of a 8 year console generation and they're sick of last gen games even if they're up ported.
Wanting vs. expecting...

People can want a lot of current-gen only titles, but expecting it probably isn't warranted. At least from the crop releasing this year and probably into next year. Because things releasing this year were likely set in motion more than a year ago, and the PS4 and XBO have been adopted at a surprisingly fast pace, while last gen software is falling faster than anticipated.

Transition will probably move faster now going forward, given the rapid installed base growth and strong tie ratios from the new systems.

You want games this year?

NO GAMES FOR YOU
Far Cry 4
Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare
AC Unity
Driveclub
Destiny
Middle Earth: Shadow Of Mordor
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Forza Horizon 2
TLOU Remastered
The Evil Within

Seems plenty to me. :P

It is getting ridiculous though. 2014. Year of the delay.

Maybe it's just my PC gamer frustration talking, cause we sat on very powerful HW for some years now, but i really want to move on, and stop catering to 512mb RAM and whatnot.
Sure they run better, but when you build a game from the ground-up, knowing you'll have to retrofit it to 8 years old machines, it will influence your design.

So yeah, it matters to me, how many titles are cross platform and how long this practice keeps going.

Thankfully the attach rate of current gen consoles (minus WiiU, but it doesn't really factor in my argument in the first place) seems pretty good, so hopefully we can move on.

^That's what I'm sortof getting at as well.

Not surprised at all. WB also has Shadow of Mordor releasing in the same window. They likely didn't want to risk the two trampling on each other's toes, and considering they're both open-world 3rd person action games - that was definitely possible.

Doesn't matter - nothing else has a chance with Civilization: Beyond Earth this year.

Now, if THAT gets delayed - I'm jumping out of the nearest window.

This just highlights the fundamental issue with such game reveals. Unless your game is guaranteed to be out within 8 months of the reveal, don't fucking reveal it. Now obviously there can be development issues, but these publishers reveal their games not giving a shit how long they'll make us wait. Just makes there be an air of scepticism with every release window posted.

I'm happy with the delay as I've still get plenty of games to play and Rocksteady will have the time to make Batman AK a top quality title.

This is also where buying a Wii U a few months back was a great move.

I expected this.

October was packed with games, and I'm only budgeting for one or two games a month, so many games originally releasing in October weren't going to be bought until much later anyway. My wallet is grateful for this news.

Wow, October just got a lot more comfy for Shadows of Mordor, Assassin's Creed and Dragon Age. Now 2015 is getting crowded with The Order, Witcher 3 and Batman. At least it won't be a dull Spring.

2015 is fine by me. I guess the people that wasted their money on a PS4/XB are boned, though. I wonder how much stuff actually slated for 2015 will slip into 2016, and which titles delayed for "early 2015" will have to be inevitably delayed until later in the year to avoid a crowd.
How is it a waste of money? It's not like you won't need to buy a PS4 next year to play these games and they aren't dropping the price any time soon. Only difference is my PS4 sits in my room and gets moderate use vs sitting in a warehouse not getting any use .

Probably thinking about price depreciation, opportunity costs and better deals down the road.

That there is a lot less coming out a year after One/PS4 released then there was a year after the 360/PS3 launched. It's pretty obvious what he was saying.

That's not going to get better. There will be fewer AAA retail releases every year compared to last gen. The market has changed.

So the only game to look forward this year is destiny

C'mon. There are still plenty of potentially great games coming this year.

On topic, I'm kind of surprised, seeing as they'll have had three years of development. I guess it's been difficult for devs to get a handle on the new hardware. I wonder what else will see delay...

At this rate nintendo will the only people releasing anything in 2014!

And nothing in 2015

As a long time nintendo fan i died a little inside realising that

Sadly this is true. What's is worse is that a higher proportion will be yearly titles. Which is just lovely.

Everything is 2015 now

Sums up my thoughts upon reading the title.

Guess I'll just stick with my PS3 for the rest of the year. Might get a Wii U, assuming Smash doesn't get delayed (and has positive word of mouth from the community).

Next year should be amazing though....unless everything becomes 2016.
