Shut the front door - he's pretty cool.
I am surprised at all of the Guy hate, it's a fun show and he's a fun host. I enjoy having it in the background.

I do like Giada, but most of the other shows seem too formulaic and staged. Also, don't like the host of Chopped. Iron chef is cool though.
Miss old school FN, though. East Meets West was awesome.
Its easy to hate Guy, because he comes off very condescending to the viewer.
At the same time, he puts so much good press into places that I've never heard of before and would be willing to check out on the road.
Considering the Food Network doesn't do staged as much anymore, a return to the Barefoot Contessa or Giada at Home formulaic shows would be a nice breath into the network. Reality competitions and restaurant impossible are getting really old in their schtick.
DDD is hit and missed with me. It's interesting to see the different restaurants he goes to and the food they create, but man Guy has got to be the most annoying dude to ever hit TV.
When he eats the food it sounds like his throat got a mouth and its cringe worthy watching him patronize the chefs who make the food. Adding his two cents instead of just watching the people make the damn food.

I try to watch DDD during dinner as I really enjoy the show.
Also, when I go on vacations I like to look up that city on the DDD site to see if they were there and where I should eat.

I never once thought that - in fact, he's one of the more relatable (in terms of enjoying what he does) hosts when it comes to the FN.
And yes the competitions (besides Iron Chef) and Restaurant Impossible are getting old. Just no fun to watch for me. I do like Mystery Diners though, even though it's heavily staged.
In one episode I noticed, the confrontation happened in daylight and then back from the commercial it was night. Obviously filmed during different times. Most people don't pay attention to small details in "reality television", but I do. Such as staged camera angles that make are out to make the viewers believe something is new.

Just so silly and dumb, I wish he just tried it regularly.Bizarre foods is amazing. I went on a binge one time looking at every episode just being astonished by different food cultures. Some of the stuff Andrew eats seems delicious like blood sausage and pig's head. I used to watch anthony bourdain but he got too full of himself during the past few seasons.

This. It wasn't forced or blatantly staged like the US version. Ramsay acted like a normal human being trying to help the owners and not like a dismissive child.

I saw an episode where this Korean woman owned a pizza restaurant and was making incredible fusion of Korean foods on pizza. She got him to try a pizza that had eggs on it where she even cut right through the yoke with the pizza cutter and he cringed when he was watching her add the egg topping. When she got the pizza cutter and was aiming for that yoke, he was like "wait don't cut through the....awww!" He still ate it and said it was the best thing he had ever had with eggs and then said he'd eat eggs that way again.
It's still a weird aversion for a chef.

Chopped is #1 and Cutthroat Kitchen is #2. I don't watch much else at this point. I miss the early Food Network days when the shows were about cooking and not about reality shows and the "personalities." I watched an episode of The Kitchen and it was the most awkward and forced attempt at a cooking show I could imagine.
While Emeril's show was okay when it started, the point where he started saying "bam" all the time and interacting with his house band instead of cooking good food was the point where Food Network starting going downhill. They realized that dreadful formula worked and they ran with it.

He's the same person on the US version, it's just produced for a different audience. There are far more quick cuts and reaction shots that are clearly taken at different moments in time. The UK show is clearly superior, though his best show to date is The F Word.

There's a joke in here somewhere that I'm overlooking.
I find his enthusiasm entertaining. Like I said it's a good background show while I'm browsing GAF or whatever else. I don't take it super seriously and enjoy the silly atmosphere.

I enjoyed it at some point until I realized that every place he every goes to is identical. Nothing is ever bad which I guess is expected seeing as it's essentially a marketing show for the restaurant being featured. I've been to a couple places that have been on the show that were incredibly shitty.

The places Guy eats at are often interesting so I will put up with his terrible "Flavortown" jokes and idiot face from time to time. Eat St. on Cooking Channel is food truck themed, but it's the same thing without an idiot with frosted tips and sunglasses on the back of his head. Watch that.

Someone i know works on YGEH, And they let me come along and help set up/set down sometimes. Best upside is (most of the time) free food. Great experience as an aspiring media professional. John is a really great guy.

I love this show.
But most of the time I'm just watching Chopped. Watched the grillmaster edition over the weekend...yeah buddy.
No serious.
I watch it for the light nature and festive ambiance of the filming.
I don't get the douche aspect at all. Just a guy that loves what he does. Don't see him as a douchebag at all.
