So, can we all agree that Diner's Drive ins and Dives is the best show on the Food N?

Lmao, so true.

Fuck Guy. He's a piece of shit.

I must be old school, my favorites were always Good Eats, Emeril, and Mario Batali's show.

My wife and I used to watch Emeril a bunch back when we were dating.

On a tangential note, I remember when the Food Network first launched.
I thought to myself "Food? On television? Who the heck would ever want to watch that?"

The difference between Mario Batalli Guy is that Mario and his family have a long history of being involved in the food industry. I've bought cured meats from Mario's dads place in Seattle. Guy owns a chain of applebees and used to be a pitch man on infomercials. He's a phony fucker from Modesto or Stockton or some other piece of shit place.

In a world where Good Eats is a thing... I must disagree.

The Good Eats cookbooks are also great. Sometimes I just read them because of the science and history.

Guy is not a horrible human being.... BUT HIS SHOW FUCKIN SUCKS!
images

its basically the dude eating stuff and then making this OMG THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER FACE. Next episode.... NEXT... EPISODE!!!

Chopped for life yo!

But... she's so friendly and...

I probably should've seen it, considering how rough the TV business is.

It also helps that her grandpa brought us Conan The Barbarian, Barbarella, Flash Gordon, Death Wish, Firestarter, Maximum Overdrive, Raw Deal, Army of Darkness, Assassins, and many more so bad they're good films of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.

I don't get the appeal of Chopped; also don't like the host.

That's what doesn't make sense to me...

Wouldn't the daughter of a big time Hollywood bigshot be able to easily throw her weight around to get her way?

Her giving out the good stuff to producers doesn't add up to me.

It is a good show. I've never really understood the hate the guy gets personally. Does he make some insane items with insane names? yup. Does he give some regular items insane names? yup. It just doesn't bother me though. I've found a few of the places he goes to be really cool. I also love seeing some of the insane heart attack inducing stuff that some of these places make.

Maybe I'm just a little bit crazy though.

Maybe she just likes giving out the good stuff and it has nothing to do with her trying to succeed in business?

Not everyone has an angle. I know I don't. Well, maybe a little bit of a curve.

I believe most of the rumors are about how that's just what she likes to do, it's not about trying to get something in return.

Guy does suck, and that hair is almost too much to handle, but I don't mind the show and there are some places near me that he has been to on the show that I've heard are good, and I think I might go try them out. If his show is helping some local restaurant or local chain then that's cool with me.

Guy isn't the coolest but his show is entertaining. He's a likeable dude even though he looks like a mid-life crisis poster-child. He does know a little about what he's talking about, mainly in food prep. Plus you know if the food really sucked or not all depending if a fist bump proceeds the first taste.

Also found this haha. Makes me want take back all I said.

Since Good Eats is over the answer is Chopped and it's not particularly close.

Is Good Eats with Alton Brown still going?

Slightly Off Topic, since people are mentioning Alton Brown and Good Eats.
Though I'm not sure if many people know this, but it's a worthy mention.
While I don't know if Alton Brown will ever bring back Good Eats, he did make his own Youtube channel awhile back which is basically the same style as his show, but he seems to have more fun with it:

Edit: There's new video every Wednesday, so that's exciting!

I love this show and it's easily the best show on the food network. Not because of guy but because of all the individual places they go to and see how they cook their food.

So...

Anyone here know Giada. Anyone?

Since a lot of people here like Alton Brown, he hosts a podcasts (The Alton Browncast) and Giada was on as a guest a few months ago...and she came of borderline psychotic.

Let's just say that she took the Iron Chef Challenge loss to Rachel Ray and Mario Batalli really hard...REALLY hard.

I wouldn't care for the prospect of losing to Rachel Ray either.

I'd be upset to if I lost to Rachel Ray.

^ DAMN

Hey, I would love to.

If you have a spare room to put my wife and I up in so that we can move there, then -

"Darling~! Let's move to the UK~! Some Gaffer has a room for us there, and we can listen to the accents on the TV from 4PM to 9PM!"

Sounds like a viable plan.

Triple D is my favorite show on the Food Network. I love the premise. I don't mind Guy at all, so some former employees say shit about him. Who cares? I bet there are dozens of people that can talk shit about me. Doesn't change the fact that I'm the single greatest person living today. Fuck those guys.

I have looked up dozens of recipes from those shows and made them. I've never been disappointed with the results.

I like the show quite a bit. Maybe not so much for Fieri or prospects of cooking lessons, but mostly because if I ever get the chance to travel, I'll have a vague idea of where to go for some nice food.

Also really dig Chopped and Cutthroat Kitchen. The latter can be very entertaining if only because it shows how the prospect of winning can bring out the worst in otherwise decent people.

It is a great show. I like seeing all the local places and their specialties. It also shocks me how unhealthy a lot of those meals are haha.

My god I hope you are joking. It is the very downfall of the food network. I remember when it used to just be cooking shows, and now it's just fat dudes going around eating stuff. I'd say, not only is it the worst show on the Food Network, but maybe a close contender for the worst show on television. And Guy is by far the biggest tool on TV this side of Fox News.

Maybe I'm just too damn old, but I wish the Food Network actually still had cooking shows. Now it's just cooking contests and gluttony, and that's not what that channel used to be in it's prime.

Lol OP forgetting that Ina Garten runs that channel. She's the Don of the Hamptons. She keeps Jeffrey locked up in the attic until it's dinner time.

Guy can't even say his last name right.
