2014 Microsoft E3 Conference

Sunset Overdrive GOTG so far for me. Imo looks the best title across all platforms so far being innovative and different with an unmatched amazing art style.

Plus 8 player coop!

Apparently you haven't seen Insomniacs other games... say... the last 5 or 6 they have made?

Microsoft played this as safe as they could, but really thats how they see "core gamers"?

- COD trailer with a guy loosing his arm
- supercars
- AC French Edition Trailer ending with heads on spikes
- Over the top cartoon violence in Sunset Overdrive and Dead Rising DLC
- HALO 1-5 (Halo is the new "TV")

Also, I missed "THE POWER OF THE CLOUD"... dedicated servers on Xbox Live sounds more reasonable I guess.

Crackdowns city destruction will use the power of the cloud to make it possible. I don't know what else there is to prove that, there is really something useful to gather from the cloud. (My opinion)

I just don't get why everyone is gushing over this game. It looks promising to be sure but GOTG?

Nurburgring for Forza alone is enough for me to buy an Xbox One, when it's released in my country (the Netherlands) on September 5. That track is good for hundreds if hours.

Some of these comments like sunset overdrive being the same as crackdown and "cgi, cgi" make it hard to not believe there is a strong anti-MS bias out there.

Your just showing your own bias. Sony will likely get the same treatment when their presser inevitably disappoints.

I have a PS4 and WiiU and have no plans of buying the xboxone but their conference was solid and to the point. Loved the demos showed and was the best microsoft press conference ive ever seen. Bravo.

I thought it was a good showing. No wasted time on media partnerships and that kind of stuff. No awkward demos. Was hoping for better megatons, but they got my attention. I'm still on the fence, but this was a good nudge.

phantom dust and scalebound were the only titles that might interest me so an xbone is still out of the question for me. i do see my brother leaning back towards an xbone though.

Ok, there is something that strikes me about this list.

Let's consider for a moment that their original strategy was to have every Xbox One sold with a Kinect, and that it was going to change the way games were played (lol).

Are you really telling me they have no other major Kinect-only games but Dance and Disney in development? They wouldn't have known they were going to remove it until they got clompled at market. So did they really decide they didn't need to justify the thing with games prior to its removal? I mean, i'm just struck by it. I'm glad, I think it's a good move. But on an intellectual level, I'm shocked they thought that would fly. it's ever more apparent they had no strategy for it.

What is your GOTG? The next COD? There is nothing like Sunset OverDrive and the gameplay, the weapons, and the art style is totally refreshing and innovative not like another Assassins Creed. It's adrenaline filled like Jet Set Radio where you have to continually be moving. The story looks compelling and the city looks like a blast to explore with a roller coaster in the e3 demo. Surely, there is more. As Greg Miller says, Insomniac is finally doing a project that they love doing and old school Insomniac is back with the humor. The trailer was lovely and creative looking like one for Battlefield.

Annndddd... Imagine running throughout this colorful city with 7 other people in online coop causing havoc?

I don't know why this reaction. The IGN panel also said Sunset Overdrive so far looked like the GOTG.

When Crytek dropped the Kinect support for Ryse, MS gave up on Kinect. No one wanted to be the guinea pig. No one wanted to make another Lair. Then they had to change their strategy and that's why we're seeing a lot of CGI trailers of games which are a long way off. One can only imagine what their original plan was, but I bet they were hoping for a Kinect control scheme in a lot more 'core' games.

I really don't get the bashing of the conference? Sure, the first party games really don't do anything for me, but beyond that, the conference as a whole compared to last year is a vast improvement.

No defense force, no constant "Xbox is your TV!" BS, no Mattrick out there talking about how if your out at sea, there's a lesser console out there for you to buy. It was about games, and future announcements.

Maybe its just me, but I liked the approach. And I was really down on the XBox brand at this point last year.

yeah sunset overdrive totally is a mix between ratchet+clank and resistance. the big monster moved like the very first boss in resistance 3 and a boss in a crack in time. weapons look straight out of ratchet+clank even. i guess there's the bioshock infinite mobility.

In saying that I thought that their conference was solid but it felt like it was the work of a company securely in the driving seat with a commanding market share rather than a company that has the huge task of playing catch up with a competitor with all the momentum.

Actually, I'd say it very well could be a company that's trying to play catch up, or at least not lose more. Their game may be to at least keep their core audience interested rather than bleeding them over. After all, I believe they make their most money off the people who are buying the Live Gold fee and their core audience is going to be a majority of that. So their game may very well be to try to keep their dedicated fans dedicated.

That's second party, MS is publishing. Third party exclusive would be more akin to TitanFall.

Gamespot. They must have thought third party dev therefore third party exclusive.

Oh man that thread is making me laugh now. This is why we shouldn't trust these gaming websites and their "rumours"

Where were the megatons? Rumours swirling round of RE being exclusive, a huge 3rd part game, shenmue etc, nothing. Even all that twitter hype and pre E3 announcements made it seem as if something huge was coming. That platinum game looks weak I still can't believe that was the huge exclusive, the 2016 release window doesn't help either.

It was better then last year, and they delivered on the games, games, games promise. But I must admit I'm underwhelmed. My hype levels might've been to high after the big talk of spencer and the fact they revealed Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive Gameplay and Halo 5 beforehand gave
me the idea they had some megatons up their sleeve. They did not.

They showed the exclusives we knew about, but didn't tell us anything new (why no 8 player co op SO gameplay in stead of the same type of stunting and shooting we've seen a month ago?). Halo collection is nice, but it doesn't really make me shit myself with joy (not too big a Halo fan, although I enjoyed the games), and they showed lots of multiplats which I'm getting on my PS4 prolly.

The worst? "10 years without a game? Better make one ourselves'-Conker moment. Djeezes. I saw the guy popping up. Thought. OH SHIT! New conker. It's a freakin DLC for Spark? Seriously?

Scalebound en Crackdown kinda saved the day, but CGI only trailers are hard to get worked up about.

So i had hoped this E3 show would've waved away my little regrets of getting an Xbox One early, but it didn't. Saw lots of cool stuff, but most of it multiplat. Good show in the end, but one without any 'OH SNAP!'-moments. And after all those levels of hype, that's a damn shame.

Same boat, same opinion. MS conferences in the past usually just reinforce my decision to not get an MS console, or at best they're alright. This one has me legitimately considering a 'bone sometime in the future, whereas this morning I had no intention of ever getting one. Good show, MS. Lots of games for gamers and minimal pandering to casual markets and non-gamers. Phil's leadership showing through quite brightly now.

I (my wallet) really need Sony and Nintendo to blow me away and make me forget this MS conference or I'll be on a ramen diet for a good while.

Just finished watching the VOD of the conference. I really liked it. Sure some of the dialogue felt forced (which conference doesn't, it is PR after all), but the games on display looked very good. Sony and Nintendo have a high bar to clear to beat this.

Made me want to get an XBOne sooner than later.
