Excuse me if I missed an earlier explanation...

But how does the multiplayer for this work exactly?...I know they said there is a straight poet of H2's multiplayer...and there is 100 maps..but do we get all 100 maps ported into H2's multiplayer...or does each game have it's own multiplayer mode?

Meaning if I wanna play "Hang em High" for instance..I have to fire up Halo CE's multiplayer...

The multiplayer from all four games is running in their original engines, but you don't have to "fire up" a specific game or anything. It's one cohesive mode that gives you access to all of the maps at once. So in matchmaking you might be given a chance to vote between "Hang em High" running in the CE engine, Zanzibar in the Halo 2 engine, and Valhalla in the Halo 3 engine. And then depending on which one is picked, it loads straight into that map/engine.
 
Halo 3 is my favorite Halo game, but I absolutely HATED the 30FPS and the blurry mess that it was on top of everything.

So at this point I think I'll be getting myself and Xbox One just so I can play Halo 3 again, the way I always wanted.

Yeah I'm really excited to see how Halo 3 looks at a much higher resolution and higher framerate!
 
I'm confused, HCEA didn't have the Reach engine either.

Speaking of which, they should add the effects from the Xbox version of HCE that were missing in the classic HCEA/Halo PC. Seeing as this is likely just a simple port of HCEA it doesn't seem likely.

Halo CEA runs with the original engine, it just has a new graphic renderer option. Halo CEA MP was a Reach variant. This Collection will have the original Halo CE MP, no new graphics or modifications.

Yeah I thought we all knew it was original CE multiplayer so I was confused what he was saying about Reach heh

Slightly off topic but with the current (and hugely welcome) trend of these HD remasters, do people think there is a chance of EA doing a 1080p/60fps Mass Effect 1-3 collection complete with all the DLC?.
It would make sense with Mass Effect 4 coming at some point and this is EA we are talking about.
 
I assume the H2 MP uses the last Title Update though, correct? (Technically that wouldn't be exactly as it shipped)

Bascially fixes/adjustments to Melees, Magnums, Needlers, Noob Combo, Flag Bouncing, and Super Jumps.

Are we going to get some kind of universal control scheme between all games? I don't think I would like having to remember the button layouts between 1,2,3 and 4 between matches.
 
Yeah I'm still reeling, this is the best news. HCE multi online dedicated servers? 3 shot beast mode: engage. Fully torqued.
 
All have original engines, not sure if Halo 1 is original or reach remake crap

Seems like more effort to port over the reach engine also just for H1A multi, but one thing I do worry about is the H1A co-op, it was basicly lan sized data packets over the internet and it made the game super laggy online, if it's the same deal for halo 1 multi in this collection that sucks.
 
I'm not a halo fan at all. But this announcement is pretty inspired in my book. 5 games in 1. Gives you 5 reasons to get an xbox one. Props to MS. Puts a different spin on the trend for sequelisation and hd remakes.

I was completely ambivalent about the rumored Halo collection, but after the conference, this is my most hyped game of the year. I can feel my youth flowing back. Now the tough part is convincing my Halo buddies to get an Xbox One.

Pretty much. Dan said that people who liked the ranking system in H2 would be happy.
 
To be brutally honest I'm a little underwhelmed by Halo 2's visuals. I was expecting a much larger leap from Xbox to Xbox One.

Frankie did say this is an early build and it will get better as they go in the IGN.
 
There are six PC maps including timberland and gerphyrophobobiarbiarphyrbr.
Any word on which two PC maps aren't going to make the cut?

Even if some of the PC maps wouldn't play well in a matchmaking setting, it'd be nice if they were at least available for custom games.
