Sony E3 2014 Conference Thread

Sony had too many multiplatform titles that I were already getting on PC, and very few exclusives that interest me. Ratchet Remaster and Bloodborne are the only things I really want. The Order fell really flat and Uncharted is....:lol. LBP I'll wait on.

Also, odd that the huge focus on TV was discussed for so long. You'd think they learned from MS' blunders.

I almost /FLIPPED/ when Grim Fandango came and I thought it was PS exclusive. Thank god it's on PC.

The fuck even was that?

No Last Guardian.

Excessive Vib Ribbon teasing with no payoff.

Bloodborne, but no gameplay.

The fucking fuck?!?

This thread is pure gold. It's like every other post is "MS 12/10 and Sony was shit nogamezz". Then the next post is "Sony killed it, all MS showed is Halo rehash, blah blah."

Keep em coming!

Did Sony fire most of their devs or why don't they finally announce some new games? Man, LBP3 is the only new game (and it's just mostly a copy & paste successor) and maybe Bloodbourne in coorparation with From Software.

Their first party stuff announced since the February 2013 is just a joke, can't believe this.

And man, who cares for all the boring stuff Shawn Layden talked about at E3? This could've been announced outside of the press conference or cut at least all the stuff they wasted 30 minutes and pack it in a short 5 minute sequence.

Well, at least we have a 30 Seconds Trailer of Nathan now instead of the Teaser.
Such a bad conference and for the first time ever I have to agree that Sony really f***ed up the first 1-2 years in terms of their own studios.

Sony A

It would be A+ except for the middle part dragged too long

EA C

Loved Dragon Age but too much concept

UBISOFT B

Love Far Cry and AC

Microsoft B

Great show but didn't change the narrative.

God I wish law school used the curves you apply to these conferences.

Microsoft: B
EA: D
Ubisoft: A-
Sony C+

Sony loses not just for TLG no-show, but the horrible cocktease of Vib Ribbon. I thought we were getting a PSN release.
This is almost exactly how I feel so far.

Sony's lineup just didn't appeal to me very much, and the ones that did in most cases were things I've already played. Third party stuff is honestly what I liked most of their show (Far Cry 4, Batman). Bloodborn looked badass.

First time I'm irked to the point I have to stand up and leave. For all the leadership, Sony feels like the redundant entity in this business, and it makes no sense. D-

If this is day 0, what happens after ninteno's press conference?

IMO, Sony stole the show. I really wasn't expecting a gta v announcement., I'm hype..

Um, spoiler if you didn't watch it ahead..

Batman looked insanely fun
Fc4 reminds me of fc3 but just a lot of more stuff to do.. Looks good IMO.. Elephants confirmed
Uncharted 4 omg
Tlou, I'm getting since I didn't own a ps3
Dead island 2's trailer was funny.. He stole the dead guys Prada shoes in the end lol
Grim fandango, let's see how that goes
Some cool looking indies

Awful from Sony, really awful.

I saw studios bringing it to the table, I saw Sony waffle on about being connected and vita TV and a load of other rubbish. This is the Sony conference, is LBP3 the best you have got, oh and an Uncharted teaser (for their 5th game).

5/10, only EA's was worse. MS and Ubi were a lot better but nothing special either. Overall a very disappointing E3. There was great info and expansion on games we knew about, I mean that Batman footage was truly amazing but I knew they would do great. Didn't get an "oh wow" moment at all from something fresh.

Is anyone else feel dirty from all the co marketing stuff in these things today. I remember when E3 was for exclusives now it's about pimping third party marketing deals.

Exclusive this, free day one this. ewwww.

Sony had a few games that I want but that was a pretty unexciting watch. I feel bad for the people who went to theaters for that mess

Structure wise MS murdered them

79% Sony
71% Microsoft
64% Ubisoft
46% EA

Sony won clearly but would have been significantly better without boring comic book guy, TV shows and boring stats. Also what the heck was going on with that double Vib Ribbon mention not turning into an announcement. I mean that was just so odd.

Yep, pretty much my thoughts.

I kind of liked Ubi more than Microsoft in terms of presentation, but gotta give Microsoft props for the best games games games pacing.

Weird conference but a ton of variety. Way too many fillers though. Its a shame because otherwise it was a great conference.

EA: C
UBI: B
MS: B-
SONY: B+

MS - Too much CGI and far off titles, but slickly paced and organized conference. Not a dull moment.

Sony - More gameplay and variety, but too much talk and just a messy structure overall.

I'd give it an 8 out of ten or a 7.5. Better content than Microsofts imo but the pacing was much much worse especially at the middle free to play/tv stuff.

Great conference with a nice game selection and a few pleasant surprises. It was well paced and they presented all their initiatives nicely. I could have done without the comics guy near the end, but I guess you have to hype that show since it's on PS+. 9 out of 10 from me.

Microsoft 8/10
Sony 7/10
Ubisoft 5/10
EA 3/10

Even with the stack of games that aren't coming to XB1 you score them higher? If you take out that middle gap, Sony simply had more games. I really liked the approach MSFT took with their conference but it boils down to not only what games I want to play but how many you simply will not find on XB1. I don't get why that doesn't count with people unless there's some favoritism at play. I thought Sony had to bring it with games and they did just that despite the hole in the middle. That doesn't take away from the avalanche of those games which will simply not be on XB1 at all or for a bit.

Microsoft: C+
  • I fell asleep towards the end (during The Division).
  • Sunset Overdrive looks really great.
  • Assassin's Creed demo looked great.
  • Less games, more other features would have been nice. I would have like to see them talk about the other features that make it a better value than a PS4 at $399.
EA: Incomplete
  • I faded in and out.
  • Battlefront being one giant cock tease was disappointing.
  • FIFA looks pretty but that may just be World Cup hype talking.
Ubisoft: B+
  • Assassin's Creed, The Crew, Rainbow 6, and Sad WWI Dog looked great.
  • Fitness game and Just Dance segments were entertaining.
  • The Division and Far Cry 4 seem meh.
Sony: A
  • LittleBigPlanet 3 looks amazingly charming.
  • Great to see the TV stuff is actually going somewhere, Powers is a fun comic. I hope we see more image comics get shows in the future (assuming it turns out good).
  • Ratchet & Clank movie looks beautiful.
  • YouTube, PlayStation Now, PlayStation TV, and VR headset all seem interesting.
  • Pacing was bad. I would have preferred if they showed fewer games. Did we really need to spend time on The Order, Bloodborne, MGSV and Batman when they are all so far off?
I can't wait to see what Nintendo brings to the table. The bar has been set.
This is Neogaf.

The last 30 minutes saved the conference, but the first 90 were rough.

The Order is pretty but gameplay continues to be a non-presence in everything they've shown.

Bloodborne looks awesome but I have no idea how it'll play, exactly. It looks a little busier than Dark Souls, doesn't it?

Second Son dlc seems ace. LBP looked like LBP. A lot of indie titles punctuated by No Man's Sky, which impresses.

Otherwise things didn't perk up until they showed the TLOU, GTAV, MGSV, and Arkham. So, remasters and multiplats.

Uncharted wins the day simply by showing up, although that would be true no matter what else was shown.

Solid B.

At thid point if you're still getting disappointed by the Order then you need to actually look up what the devs have said. They've made very clear what game they're trying to make.

Ill give the nod to MS over Sony. Both were pretty similar in all surprises/new games were 2015 and neither blew me away, but at least MS they didn't have 30 minutes of tv/other shit.

MS: B
Sony: B-
Ubi: B-
EA: just turrible

ya they just had 40 min of cg trailers lol

Having suffered the whole thing, that was definitely one of Sony's weaker E3 conferences. High profile games looked very lackluster, and the 2014 lineup leaves a lot to be desired. The emphasis on non-gaming content for a decent chunk of it was also baffling after what Microsoft did last year.

Very uneven conference, and Jack Tretton was sorely missed. They should have removed about 30 minutes of uninteresting filler/non gaming stuff. Microsoft's presentation was much better in this regard and didn't feel too long, either.

So basically, Sony Press Conference was:

Remakes, remakes, ports, we're perfect and arrogant, exclusive content on 3rd Party games even if it's just 5 more minutes of gameplay, TV TV TV, a Ratchet and Clank movie, No Man's Sky (damn cool BTW), Bloodborne, Batman, MGS:V and UCH 4... all of them 2015/2016 titles if some of them get delayed.

Yep, bad conference overall, slow paced, boring in some points. I feel really sorry for those on Europe that have to stay awake for this... or those who were to see this at theaters.

Nintendo will save us tomorrow.
