Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (Naughty Dog) Shown - 2015

Graphics looked nice, but not showing actual gameplay was a massive fail.

Is this your first time seeing a game reveal in general or something? With all past Uncharted games, they've never shown gameplay for the first shown visuals of the game. This is absolutely nothing new..

How exactly is it a massive fail? I feel like it's the first E3 for a lot of people these days

Jesus christ you people, the game couldn't be in better hands.

Relax and let Druckmann and Straley do their fucking job, they know what they're doing.

The sand deforms from the weight of his arm... Shiiit

Is that what you said about the U2/U3 reveals?

My opinion about those reveals are my own. I've never publicly said anything about them. What I am concerned about is the number of people with unrealistic expectations. There is no doubt in my mind that some people are going to see past any graphical shortcomings between the final product and the trailer, but from a purely technical standpoint I honestly do not see how the PS4 could be capable of this level of graphics any more than the PS3 was capable of KZ2 reveal trailer graphics.

I'll gladly eat crow if I'm wrong. I'll wash it down with the sense of satisfaction I get when something exceeds my expectations.

Edit
This was suppose to be impossible too
Just saw your edit. Unfortunately they video you linked is from a cutscene in the game. It is not rendered in real-time on the PS3. I guess the same could be done for UC4, although that would kind of nullify the graphical impressiveness.

It pays to not doubt the Naughty Gods, from the Uncharted 2 world premiere thread:

What the fuck was this shit? This was not real-time! Somebody said it was going to be real-time! Whatever that was, it will not be found anywhere in the retail game, well except for that bloody hand part.

And what the fuck was up with God of War 3? When I first saw Kratos face I thought we were going to see his PS2 face transform into his PS3 face, though for some reason it remained shitty. And to think some people actually suggested that Kratos would look somewhat like how he did in the first CG teaser. THIS was going to be the pinnacle of graphical achievement this generation? It looked like a painting come to death.

I stood up two hours early to watch this shit. What a waste of time.

P.S. It would be nice of you guys at Naughty Dog if you could show us how the game actually look like in the near future. Thank you.

man, dat married life

Yup. Then they changed their unveiling approach for Uncharted 3 and TLoU. So why should Uncharted 4 suddenly go back to 2? Looking at the most recent examples of their work seems to make the most sense.

I'm going to guess it has something to do with this being their first effort on the console. You're missing my point, though.

Maybe this is exactly how the uncanny valley feels like, but something about the new Drake feels off. He is somehow lacking a certain charming look he had before, and as weird as it may sound, humanity.
The new Drake looks unlikable. Like a henchman.

Yup, I got the same feeling too when watching the trailer. Something is defenitly off about him. It's not as much uncanny valley as it is just this slightly cartoonish character being taken a bit too far along aboard the photorealistic graphics train. He feels more like a 'What if Nathan Drake was a real person?' interpetation of the character than something that belongs in a true Uncharted game. Might just be the omnious tone of the trailer in combination with only seeing him half a minute though, I imagine he is still the same fun smartass we got to know him as in previous entries in-game. And they might change up the design a bit too still since the game is so far off (Ellie got a new look in the final version of TLOU too).

Oh, and I don't like the logo. The subtitle font and placement are weird. I mean, it's fine on its own, but it just doesn't look right with the 'Uncharted' and the placement of the '4'.

I love older Drake. I hope they kill him off or at least address all of the people he has killed over the years. It could be almost be Max Payne'ish if written well.

Uncharted 3 looks the same as the Cutscene in the retail game. Naughty Dog has been mentioning how their in game character models and cutscene models will be the same in next gen.

I really hope the story isn't

"Sully, I have to do this for personal reasons"

"Why Drake, you've been out of the game for to long"

"They kidnapped my kid, Sully"

Last thing we need is another kidnapped kid plot.

If it is it'll be because Elena is pregnant

That's not it at all. The rumour was born from a blink-and-you'll-miss-it shot in some PS promo video of what was presumably a 16th-century ship sitting in water. People began speculating that, since the game was announced as just "Uncharted", you'd be playing as Francis Drake rather than Nathan Drake.

As I've said, that was a lame speculation based on basically nothing.

*sigh*.

Hyped and disappointed at the same time. I want a fun adventure with lots of quips and humor, colorful locales and a happy, romantic ending. Leave the melancholia for Last of Us and other IPs.

At least it's actually staring Nate. Had virtually zero interest in the series continuing without him.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7BAelqlxwI the reveal for U2 was actual gameplay

I'm pretty sure this game will be not dark as many people predict, but I want to share my opinion and I wish to sent a message to the ND (just in case I'm wrong and this game will be dark...):

Dear ND I will respect any of your decision about the story of this game, but please just don't forget the Uncharted series is about adventure, friendship, humor, awesome place, a series that feature two funny and smart ass guy (Drake and Sully).
Please, don't turn this game in "The Last of Drake", we already love TLoU and I think the Uncharted series must retain all that aspect that make this series so awesome.

Uncharted = Uncharted.

Thanks!

Most of slept through the UC2 and UC3 reveals huh? Equally as dramatic and dark.

He looks older, but also looks tired. He's been through a lot and as you said, he might have lost his 'humanity' through all of it. He's done a lot of killing and he's nearly died a lot. I wonder if this is the last we see of Drake.

Uncharted 2 was different considering they opened with a real time cutscene. People doubted, they learned their lesson when the game came out and looked exactly the same. Uncharted 3 and TLoU were unveiled with a pre-rendered cutscene. As a matter of fact TLoU doesn't look as good during the actual game, so anyone who doubted there was essentially proven correct. Uncharted 4 will look bloody amazing, but not as good as this. If someone says it will look like crap compared to this they are obviously wrong too.

I played Uncharted 3. Didn't look as good during gameplay as the unveiling cutscene. It's not even about character models, that's completely believable. More talking about IQ.

Uncharted 3 soured me so bad on the series, I couldn't even finish the game. But holy shit this looks amazing and I love the ominous tone the game has. Druckmann the god.

The Uncharted 3 cutscene looked just as good is what I was saying, and if Naughty Dog isn't lying about in game models now looking the same as in game models for PS4 then this should look the same in game

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't all of ND's games showcased gameplay exclusively on E3? Just asking.

Don't worry! It'll probably be that exact plot with Elena captured instead.

Can't wait to watch this. No matter what happens, when Naughty Dog release this game every other dev will learn their place and work to try harder. I am sure of it.

eventually. Not during initial reveals. This is looking like a fall 2015 release (especially given bloodbourne is spring 2015) so well probably get gameplay next e3 or vga if this ends up being a late summer release.

where are those who said "oh druckmann and straley know the franchise! they're not gon a make it dark and gritty!"

as far as i can tell they just further pushed uncharted into darker territory. maybe that's why hennig was fired.
